Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
This year, I have decided to go back to choosing a Word of the Year along with also choosing a Theme of the Year.....
“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
-Melody Beattie
Many years ago, I read Sarah Ban Breathnach's book, Simple Abundance.....
I was GRATEFUL for the gift of Time that I had been given to spend with my family.....
Again, simply having GRATITUDE that you woke up another morning to face another day......
Because after all, not everyone is given the chance to grow old......
This year, I am reading "Simple Abundance " again.....
It is a Day by Day journey into discovering one self through 6 simple principles with the first one being GRATITUDE
I feel it is something that I need to do in my Retirement and with everything that has gone on in the world over the last year......
I do keep a daily GRATITUDE Journal and have for several years now.....
After last year and the year before, I feel it is even more important to write down what you are GRATEFUL for on a daily basis.....
In 2019, my life was shaken up and rearranged and I did end up in a different "place"
But I feel it was the "Place" that I was always meant to be in and for that I am truly GRATEFUL.......
I do believe that with GRATITUDE, you do become more present.....
You become MINDFUL of everything around you.....
And when that happens, You have more GRATITUDE for what you have.....
And Vice Versa.....
I started this New Year with GRATITUDE that my family is healthy and safe, that we have not lost a loved one to CoVid like so many others have, that financially we have done okay during the Pandemic and we have everything we need......
So have you chosen One Little Word of the Year ????
Are you ready to face this New Year regardless of what it has in store for us?????
I know that things do not change miraculously with the turning of the calendar page to a New Year and New month but how we live and how we handle what is going on in the world is up to us.....
So how will you handle yourself in the New Year?????
Are you going to focus on all that you gave up or lost in 2020 or are you going to forget that and Live in the Present......
We can all strive for this, no matter what.......
And I think that cam be achieved by MINDFULNESS....
Soon, I will be sharing why I chose MINDFULNESS as my Theme for this year.....
Here is a list of other Bloggers who posted about their Word of the Year......

ReplyDeleteThat is a great word for the year! I try to practice gratitude often too.
ReplyDeleteSuch inspiration!Adorable post!Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGratitude is a splendid word for this year and for all years. Long ago I did gratitude journals where I would come up with five things a day. I don't do the journals anymore (although it's such fun to look back on them) but there isn't a night that I don't go to sleep and before I do think which five things I'm grateful for that day. Some are simple -- Lizzie's purr or the fact that she managed five minutes of lap time without squirming or a close parking spot on a rainy day. Some are big -- a good diagnosis or good news for a friend. Or a vaccine. It's SO important to remember and say or write it.
ReplyDeleteI love your word grateful. That is my word too. I agree we all need to be thankful each day and be grateful for what we do have in our lives. Sometimes being human is hard but there is always something to be grateful for in our lives. I am grateful for a new year and new beginning. Happy New Year. Big Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteI love the word you have chosen. YES, grateful I am too lady. Happy New Year. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI don't tend to choose a word but it was interesting to read through your post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteSending my good wishes for a happy and healthy 2021.
All the best Jan
I love this post Deb! Such a great word for this year too. I see so many of my favorite quotes here and while I do not keep a journal, I do try and start each day with thoughts of what I have in my life to be grateful for. You're posts always inspire me so today I am grateful for you! Thank you! Wishing you and your family a wonderful 2021!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, my second word would be LIVE...! Happy New Year! Sandi
ReplyDeleteWow! Who could have guessed how much positivity would serve us in 2020?! And gratitude really does change everything. Thanks for sharing this, and happy New Year Deb!
ReplyDeleteEvery day! Still mulling around a woed or theme for this year. Uncertainty is not a option for my word! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLovely thoughts for the new year, Deb! Thanks so much for sharing on Farm Fresh Tuesdays! I kind of needed this reminder today. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great word for the year and thanks for sharing so many inspiring phrases to consider and ponder as well. I pray that this year is so good to you. I actually chose a word this year and it is Nurture. For what you nurture will grow. Happy New Year and thanks for visiting every week. #HomeMattersParty
ReplyDeleteYour post is so full of good things! I could linger here for days pondering over all these things you share. Gratitude is something I need to focus on more myself.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, I had a cancer scare myself in 2009 that was caught early enough that no treatment was needed after they removed a cancerous polyp. I have to have more frequent colonoscopies as a result (not fun) but I'm grateful that that's the only outcome of it all! I'm very glad you linked up at our One Word linkup. If you write about your word again next month, I hope you'll link again on February 21 with an update on how things are going with it!
We go out into the world in search of our dreams and ideals. Often we put in the inaccessible places what is at hand.
ReplyDeleteToday there is no lack of reasons to smile and every moment is an opportunity to experience the best sensations in the world. May this day be the stage of the greatest adventures and in the end our hearts are filled with joy.
