Yep!
My Craft Room is a disaster.....
So one of my INTENTIONS for this year is to go through everything, and by that I mean all the tubs, boxes, etc. in my craft room, and seriously decide what I will keep and what will be passed on....
And that will require me to be MINDFUL of what I want to continue to have in my house, storage of those items, etc.
After I do all of this, then I INTEND to re-organize both the Craft Room and the Sitting Room as the closet in the Sitting Room also contains some crafting supplies...
This is going to be a HUGE task so I am hoping that the Summer will be cooler than it has been in recent years so I can work up in both rooms as i do not have air conditioning in those rooms....
Read for pleasure
I INTEND to start to make time in my day even if it is only 2-3 times a week, to read....
During the Pandemic, I bought 4 bags containing 10 paperbacks each of books at a local library sale....
I think I have read maybe 6 of those books in the 6 years since the Pandemic...
And those book are in addition to books that I accumulated prior to my retirement thinking that I would read...
I realize that I have more time to do this in the Summer as I am not redecorating the house for different Holidays every 4-6 weeks like I am from Fall to Easter....
Drink more water
I INTEND to drink a minimum of 64 oz. of water daily....
To accomplish this, I bought this from Dollar Tree....
This is part of my Wellness INTENTIONS
I really need to start to exercise again this year....
It seems that since Joe passed away, I have a mental block with walking like we did when we walked our grand pups every morning as my son and DIL were at work....
Grief is a funny thing, isn't it???
This was our coldest Winter in 30 years but even though that is an excuse for not walking outside, I could be using my stationary bike in my bedroom....
Which I have not done and I know I really should be doing as it will maintain the Range of motion in both my knees, especially the one with a joint replacement....
So this falls in line with the INTENTION to
Tell myself the truth , always
Meaning that these are no good excuses....
So .....
I INTEND to start walking even if it is at the Mall, which is level and climate controlled. right down the road from me, 5 minutes away....
At least 3 times a week....
Have I started to do that???
Not Yet!
Again, I am being truthful!
I do admit that I felt great when I was walking daily....
Try New Things
I INTEND to do this by going to different events and places where I have not gone before....
One example of this was that I went to The Raging Reptile Show at the Mall by me even though I am deathly afraid of snakes....
Embrace opportunities
This goes hand in hand with trying new things if the opportunity presents itself....
I am doing this through a lot of events that the new Senior Social Club I belong to, and am President of, are doing.. ..
We went to a high school presentation of "Fiddler on the Roof yesterday...
More on that in a future post...
Spend time outdoors
I INTEND to spend more time out on my front porch and back Patio even if it is unGodly hot this Summer by using a fan outside!!
The heat and humidity kill me in the Summer because of my auto immune diseases but I do INTEND to fight it this Summer...
Some other specific INTENTIONS for the year
1.Start to organize my Mother's old photos in an acid free container that I bought several years ago...
Notice I am saying "start"...
2. Decide what sports Memorabilia of Joe's that is left, will be kept or passed on in addition to those that I already went through...
3. Go through all the CD's I have and decide what to keep or pass on
4. Continue to go through everything in my storage room and decide what to keep or pass on
5. Continue to go through everything in my storage unit that I rent, donate some things and hopefully, be able to move to a smaller unit...
6. Go through all of my dishes, glassware, etc. and decide what to keep and what to pas on..
These are all fairly big projects that I INTEND to work on and complete, by the grace of God, by the end of the year,...
I may or may not list them in Monthly Goals unless it is a specific task that I want to accomplish in doing those big projects....
But I am focusing on the last statement...
I INTEND to buy LESS...
I can't guarantee Buying Nothing but so far, I have decreased my Buying...
I also INTEND to Shop my own home
I have been watching some You Tube Videos where decorators are doing this and using everyday items to decorate with..
I have started to do this with using Holiday decorations for different Seasons and Holidays than what they were INTENDED for...
I INTEND to sew something and make something once i get my craft room in order...
Other INTENTIONS for the year....
Spend LESS time on Face book
Spend MORE time reading Blog posts
Respond to Blog comments quicker
Watch MORE You Tube decorating Videos
Listen to some Podcasts
Reconnect with a few old friends and meet for lunch or invite over
I did just hat yesterday as I got to spend an afternoon with an old friend and former co worker as she rode with me and we sat together when attending a high school play with other members of our Senior social club.
She belongs to my church , is a member of the club and also recently lost her husband...
Be in contact more, whether through messages, texts, phone calls or visits with more family members....
Well, that is about it....
I know it seems like a lot....
But.....
My favorite quote!
Good morning -- What a great post -- so much to think about and, hopefully, do. Pushing forward when you feel you can't put one foot in front of the other is usually so helpful. After reading the previous post about you going to a reptile show, I saw an ad for a reptile show here next month -- it's not free but it looks like something my grandson might enjoy. He's had a lizard for almost eight years. I hope you do find some reading time -- I'm reading "The Shell Seekers" by Rosamonde Pilcher -- excellent book about a family in Scotland. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeletePatty,
DeleteThanks again for stopping by!! It was an experience going to the Reptile Show but fun anyways...
Hugs,
Deb
Lots of things to think about in my own life. I am starting to make some changes, but maybe I need a little more INTENTION and planning. It sounds like you are doing awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo many great thoughts here, Deb, and lots of food for thought. I'm not always as intentional about my day as I'd like to be. When I started my blog years ago, it was based, slowing down and recognizing the beauty in small moments and the everyday views around me. Now the moments I spend on my blog are the happy times...time spent reading friends' blogs and seeing their pretty creations. Funny how that worked out!! Have a fabulous day my friend and thanks for an inspirational post!
ReplyDeleteYou have some really fabulous intentions and I like that you've broken them down into different categories. I did just awful at getting exercise in every day this winter and definitely used the cold and weather as an excuse as we do have exercise equipment in the basement and there are always walking YouTube videos and things I COULD use. I'm just so unmotivated to!
ReplyDeleteIntentions is such a great word to focus on this year! Being intentional about the choices and priorities made really brings things into focus! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all of your "intentions"! I know you will do great things this year.
