In my last post, I shared More of my "Under the Sea" Decorations in the Living Room for Late Summer...
Click HERE if you missed that post..
And now for a few Personal Notes...
On Friday, my son, Joey, treated us to deep dish Brick Oven pizza from a local eatery called Whatinthe Sam Hill Pizza....
We have had it before but not for some time.....
It was so good!!!
I made some Rotini with meat sauce the other day for dinner and had quite a bit left over so I layered it in a pan with mozzarella cheese and slices of American cheese and put it in the oven for 45 minutes and created a baked pasta dish.....
It turned out pretty good but I am used to pasta and American cheese together as my Mother made lasagna with only American cheese as she did not really care for ricotta and mozzarella cheese...
Our grand pups have been staying with us since Wednesday evening and will be going back home tonight as our son Jim and his wife Danielle went to NYC again for several days to see a concert and they also were able to catch Aladdin and Hadestown on Broadway....
Hopefully, this time they do not come home with Monkey Pox as the last time, we all ended up with COVID even though we could have been exposed to it way before they went to NYC........
I will be staying my distance and wearing a mask when they come to pick up the pups tonight...
Just a safety precaution...
The pups did enjoy being out in our back yard and patio as I had the umbrellas open to keep it cool for them.....
Faye does like the sun.....
Azumi....not so much.......
She does like to check out the flowers though.....
Faye later moved into the shade.....
Faye gets a little chilly with the air conditioning on....
They have central air which kicks on according to temperature where we have the window units....
Azumi does not mind the air conditioning....
They were happy to see Uncle Joey....
Yep!
All 6 foot 4 inches of him gets down on the floor to play with the pups!!!
Faye is the one who is always alert and on the look out...
Joe just left to get the newspaper for himself and our neighbor Ed...
She is like me a lot because that is how I am....
Azumi is laid back and let's Faye check things out and be the guard dog...
Pretty much how Joe is...
.
Sits back and lets me take care of everything.....
They are on the ottoman in front of the chair where I am sitting with my lap top, working on this Blog post....
Faye thought she would give me a paw with it....
We do enjoy when the pups come to visit us!!
But I do not get to do much when they are here and that has tired me out more than if I was gardening, cleaning and working around the house....
I do not like to sit that long, not doing much of anything.....
I like to be more active even though people on FB keep telling me to relax, sit back and live a little..
If you follow me on FB, I have let it be known that I am doing PRECISELY what I want to be doing and for me, this is living a little compared to the hectic, chaotic life I had when I was working.....
And I told them it is none of their business and I do not need anyone's advice to be like them.....
If they do not like what I post, they can do what I do with so many posts...
Scroll through and ignore them!!!
I will be making up for not doing much since the pups were here in the next few days though....
And Believe me when I say this.....
It will be what I want to do, like doing and am quite happy to do!!!
I want to share another Sunset from our front porch after some storms went through the area....
I love when there is pink in the sky...
For several years now, after the 4th of July, I have set up a display on top of the TV Entertainment Center that depicts what I call "A Day in the Park" in Victorian times.....
I change it up as much as I can from year to year.....
It
reminds me of the scene in the movie Mary Poppins when Bert and Mary
take the children to the park on a beautiful Summer day .....
This was 2021's rendering....
2020's
I missed 2019 because of my Knee Replacement Surgery....
2018
And 2017, which was the first year that I set up this display....
And this is 2022's version.....
I decided to leave the white Tree up that I had here for Easter and for the Patriotic Summer decorations...
I added a few more figurines....
Mothers and Nannies are in the park with children......
There are beautiful Victorian street lamps.....
I decided to just leave the white Tree undecorated....
All the figurines used in this display are from Home Interiors.....
Same colors used in the Living Room....
And hanging below the wreath is a reproduction Pepsi Cola sign...
To me, it just screams Summer....
As you know, I love the way you decorate. I especially like how each year you have added a different accent color to make things “pop”! I never thought of Mary Poppins, I always think of Sunday in the Park with George! Keep up the beautiful pictures and ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for taking time out of your busy day to drop by and for letting me know that you did by leaving such a sweet comment!! You made my day!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
DeleteHugs,
Deb
Your patio is all blooms and color, very pretty. I love the original Mary Poppins movie the best. I saw the latest one and it was o.k. but I like the music with Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteAwe, your grandpups are adorable. I too baby sit for one of mine sometimes. I have three but I only keep the oldest one that has an old soul like me! LOL! He is so laid back and really doesn't require a lot. Sorta like me! LOL! Love your Curio and I am in love with your Victorian pieces you've collected. That carousel is lovely. My granddaughters would love that. I enjoyed reading your post about the way you enjoy your life. Good for you girl. Too many people trying to live up the JONES expectations. Just be you sweet lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThose sunsets are dazzling. I just love it when your dogs come to visit -- I think they have it pretty good in Debbie-land! Loads of love, walks and cuddles!
ReplyDeleteYour "Day in the Park" is just wonderful, so pretty and the carousal is the perfect touch for that summer day.. It has been hotter than hades today and I talked my husband into an outing where we spent over 3 hours masked in an un-airconditioned hall. All I can think of right now is how HOT it must have been for those poor ladies in those skirts!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so much to get a behind the scenes sneak peek of the grandpups Deb! They are total cutie pies. I swear people look at me like a I have 2 heads when I tell them it's hard to get things done with an active dog in the house but it's so true. Piper gives us a work out every day! Love the pops of red and sunflowers you shared and how you used a movie for decorating inspiration. That is so cool! Hope your kids make it back ok and all is well. Hugs, CoCo
ReplyDeleteThe "Day in the Park" is such a sweet and nostalgic theme. I love the pretty, Victorian dresses and the carousel.

Your figurines are just lovely and I really enjoy your day at the park display! Sounds like the pups are keeping you entertained and busy.
ReplyDeleteOh, my... I didn't mean to hit the button. I wanted to add that I'm glad you got to have the pups over for a week or so!! I pinned one photo to my Animal Friends' board on Pinterest. :)' It is hard to clean with dogs walking around, but not impossible. ;) Glad you will be happily cleaning afterwards! I'm getting geared up for fall cleaning; I like to get the living room and bathrooms really deep cleaned before the rainy winter season.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and enjoy your beautiful home and gardens,
Hugs,
Barb :)
