I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my last post, I shared the other half of my bright and cheery Patio....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

I hope you were able to spend at least part of the Memorial Day weekend with those that you love....

Since my son Jim and DIL Danielle work every weekend and holiday, I hosted my family's Memorial Day Cook In on Tuesday as they have every Tuesday and Wednesday off...

On Monday, I decided to prepare a few things ahead of time to make it easier on myself....

Jim and Danielle love deviled eggs so I made some.....

Glad I did because they really enjoyed them!!

Since both my sons love Kielbasi, or what my son Joey calls spicy Polish meat, I also decided to make up some and they also enjoyed that as I usually only make it for Christmas and Easter...

I cheated and bought 2 containers of Price Chopper's potato salad , which I actually like better than mine, but I added celery, a bit more mayo and some seasonings to it....

It also was a big hit....

In addition to these, I served cheese burgers, hot dogs, Mac N Cheese ( Bob Evans), corn on the cob and Klondike bars for dessert because it seems that there is always room for ice cream!!!

I set a simple table.....

Used a vinyl Patriotic tablecloth that my husband Joe bought in Ocean State Job Lot a few years back ...

I used Patriotic dinner plates that my late friend Anne Marie gifted me 2 years ago.....

Funny thing is that she apologized at the time because she could only find 4 of them and not 5....

Little did she know that 4 dinner plates would be the right amount a year later......

I also used my red handled flatware that I bought many years ago in Wegman's along with crystal glassware that was gifted to me by my next door neighbor....

And again, as I have done since Christmas at the suggestion of the Hospice Unit where Joe passed way, I burned the memorial candle that I received in his memory at a special Service for All Soul's Day last year....

This is a new tradition that I started and I will continue burn this candle to symbolize that Joe is with us at every family get together.....

My twin granddaughters are now 17 months old!!!!

Hard to believe.....

Jim and Gigi.....

Jim trying to eat his corn on the cob....

I love the look on Gigi's face....

Mimi realizes that she needs to have "Stuffies" for the Twins to play with....

Gigi with a Patriotic bear on mine...

Danielle and Lily

Lily with a bear Mimi gave her...

She enjoyed "dropping" the bear so Mimi would pick it up for her, only to do it again....and again....and again....

LOL!

Faye jumping up on Mimi's chair to check things out on the table.....

It was a nice day though cloudy so Jim and Danielle walked up to Mimi's house and walked  back home....

This is the twin's new Baby Wagon!!

It amazes me how Danielle can hold both of them at the same time as they are over 20 pounds each now...

Jim was assembling their new mode of transportation....

Jim helping to put them in and get them fastened up...

Danielle told me there are other attachments to this wagon that can be used....

Danielle said it was a bit much pushing this up our big hill!!

It will be easier going down it...

Danielle is waving to my next door neighbors who were sitting out on the front porch...

The pups could even ride with them but they preferred to run with Jim!!

It was a wonderful evening spent with family and I so enjoyed it!!!

Before I end this post, I want to share a video of my twin granddaughters running around in a circle through the Living Room, through the Dining Room and Kitchen, down the hall and back into the Living Room like their Dad and Uncle Joey did before them...

Faye was on the ottoman taking it all in and Azumi was running after them with Jim and Danielle....

I also want to include this video from Easter that I forgot to add to the post I did about our family Easter celebration...

You can hear me talking and laughing...

I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY for my next post...

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  4. What a lovely Memorial Day celebration you had! Everything looked so festive! We love deviled eggs and kielbasa, too, and what a smart idea to doctor up pre-made potato salad! I'm going to remember that! The new Baby Wagon looks like a wonderful way for the twins to travel but I'm guessing that pushing it up a hill would be a bit of struggle, indeed! Thanks for sharing your holiday fun!

  5. You are blessed with a beautiful family. Your decorations are beautiful - as always. The food looks tasty too. I have to admit my favorite element is the babies! I want to hold one so much. Thanks for sharing!

  6. You are right, there is always room for ice cream! I love your festive table setting. Lily and Mom sure do look alike! We have a baby stroller/cart similar to that one, one day we walked 2 miles to the park, up and down, and most of it on the freeway, which was pretty quiet for that time of the day. Yikes, my arms got a workout!
