Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!
Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays
and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a
new post......
Today, I will be continuing the "What's in Your Hutch/Curio" Series and will be sharing what is inside the smaller curio in the Dining Room.....
Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!
And now for a few Personal Notes...
My
new next door neighbors, Muhammad and Mehrukh, brought over some
Traditional Pakistani Chicken and Rice for us to taste....
We just got
done eating our dinner of Shake N Bake chicken and mashed potatoes so
Joey and I only tasted it....
Sort of a sweet taste but a spicy after
taste....
Very good...
Will
ask her what spices are in it as I detect some nutmeg and maybe
ginger.....
Joey and I finished it for dinner the following day....
This week's Reheat and Eat Dinners from the WB Scranton Pens Food Service.....
Joey and I got the Chicken Parmigiana with Herb Roasted Red Potato & Tuscany Vegetables
Joe got the Seared Sea Scallops with Creamy Risotto & Grilled Seasonal Vegetable
I will give Joey my risotto and will take his potatoes since he does not care for them but likes the risotto....
Both Joe and Joey are now back to work and feeling fine after contracting COVID.....
Last week, I straightened up and did a bit of cleaning in the Craft Room and if you are like me, that usually leads to a bit of Crafting too!!!
I had this wood tea pot box for quite a few years....
I had painted it several years ago and then left it unfinished.....
I decided to embellished it a bit....
I added trims.....
And ribbon flowers....
I also added some venice lace appliques to the lid.....
I used spray glue to adhere a Susan Branch Graphic about Tea on to the front of the pot......
I added some pink beads on each side....
I also added the pink bead to the spout....
Another project that I finally got to finish....
I am happy with how it turned out.....
You will be seeing where I put it shortly....
Previously, I shared the first installment of this Series, "What's in Your Hutch/Curio?"......
I shared what is inside the Dining Room Hutch.....
Showcasing my Moss Rose Collection.....
Click HERE if you missed that post.....
In my last post, I shared how I cleaned and styled the larger curio in the Dining Room.....

Today, I am continuing this Series of posts with the smaller one of the curios
that I was able to take from my dear neighbor Elly's home when cleaning
it out for her sons when she passed away...
They kindly told me to take whatever I wanted for doing the work....
There are 2 of her curios in my Dining Room.....
Before
I go any further, I want to tell you that Elly had these 2 curios in
her bedroom and had a display of vintage purses, perfume bottles, hair
combs, hankies, shoes and jewelry from the 30's, 40's and 50's inside of
both of them....
It was fantastic and she bought these curios and did the display in her bedroom when she was well into her 70's!!!
I did take her idea and do a similar type of display in my Powder Room but that will be another post!!!
Today, I will be sharing the smaller matching curio.....
As I mentioned, I gave the smaller curio a good cleaning....
I
took everything out, wiped each piece down with Ammonia water ( my
Mother cleaned everything with it), wiped the inside of the curio down,
cleaned all the glass and mirrors , inside and out with Perfect Glass
and newspapers ( prevents streaking ), polished the curios and put
everything back in, rearranging a few things....
I have a display of several Colonial Gold dishes in this curio......
The story behind these pieces has to do with Joe and I inheriting Joe's maternal Grandmother's Dining Room furniture.....
Joe's Grandmother had a set of Colonial Gold dishes displayed in the hutch of the Dining Room set and I would have loved to have had that set but Joe's one Uncle took the entire set of dishes....
So to pay homage to Joe's Grandmother, I picked up a few pieces at yard sales, estate sales and at flea markets.....
On the top shelf of the curio....
A Colonial Gold dinner plate....
A music box that Joe bought for me....
This pitcher belonged to Joe's maternal Grandmother Rose and it is well over 100 years old....
I also have several pieces of Moss Rose on this shelf....
A child's creamer, an oil lamp and a lighter....
The middle shelf....
A Moss Rose vase and a container for stamps....
Another style of Colonial Gold dinner plate...
A Colonial Gold tea cup and saucer....
The dress form figurine is a Popular Creations piece that were sold in the 90's....
You can see that it is similar to the woman's dress on the dinner plate.....
A Moss Rose butter pat, I believe....
The bottom shelf.....
A Colonial Gold dessert plate....
And a different type of Colonial Gold plate.....
A Moss Rose oil lamp and a child's tea cup and saucer.....
See the cupid plate holder that I bought for $1 at a yard sale 20+ years ago?????
A vintage nut dish and a vintage goblet like the others in the larger curio.......
I had originally displayed these pieces on a wall shelf that I moved into the upstairs hall when I decided to put these 2 curios in the Dining Room.....
There was no light in this curio so I added a battery operated puck light inside the curio at the top.....
And this is where I put the wooden tea pot that I "dabbled" a bit with!!
It will stay here in the Dining Room, which I decorated like a Tea Room, for the remainder of the Summer.....
Then in the Fall, when I decorate the Dining Room for Halloween, I will move it upstairs in to either the Craft Room or the Sitting Room.....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I styled these 2 curios in the Dining Room which have special meaning to me as they bring on memories of my dear friend and neighbor, Elly, who was the person who influenced me the most when it comes to decorating.....
I hope you will stop by to visit again on Sunday when I will be doing a Christmas in July post celebrating Rudolph's Day over on my Christmas Blog,

You have so many pretties!!!! But I should not be reading this before dinner!! That chicken dish looks amazing. My daughter lives in an ethically diverse cul-de-sac and several neighbors share food as a part of their religion. They also do a progressive dinner in the circle every December. I am jealous of all the interesting food dishes they get to sample. And those have to be some of my favorite reheat meals I have seen. We haven't had much luck here with buying prepared meals anywhere. We always think our homemade versions are so much better. I would like a cooking break now and then.
ReplyDeleteSo many treasures, Debbie! I'm glad they are behind glass, most of them -- that's a lot of dusting!
ReplyDeleteYour tea cup and pot collection is so pretty. The pink tea pot is adorable. Happy Thursday. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteI don't have a curio, but I did just get a new corner hutch and I've been struggling with decorating it. You've given me so much inspiration today with your pretty collections. I can't wait to go thrifting now and build a collection of my own! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of your neighbors to share some of their culinary dish with you; it sounds delicious! Your curio cabinets are lovely and you have such nice pieces in them.
ReplyDeleteMy hutch has Cotillion's Love theme dishes. I am always amazed by your collections. The pink teapot is adorable. Debbie, I wrote a post about anonymous commenting. I hope it helps. Anonymous Comments
ReplyDeleteYou have so many beautiful pieces in your hutch, Deb, some of which I've never seen before so it was such a treat to be able to disover them. As always I am amazed by your collections and how you style each one. Speaking of amazed, I love your tea pot so much. Adding the little beads from the spout was totally genius! Hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo
ReplyDeleteI'm guest hosting for Niki at Crafty Creators and I've chosen your lovely curio display to feature this week. It will be on my blog and hers starting tomorrow. Hop over and take a look!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to look through the photos of the pretty pieces in your hutch/curio cabinet. I especially enjoyed seeing how you embellished the wooden teapot. Thank you for participating in Talent-Sharing Tuesdays Link-Up 26.
