I want to Thank Cecilia, over at My Thrift Store Addiction, for choosing my post, Strawberries, Coca Cola and Bees in the Kitchen for Mid Summer, as one of her features from last week's Vintage Charm Link Party!!!

Thanks so much, Cecilia!!!

I also want to Thank Laurie, over at Ridge Haven Homestead, for choosing my post, Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby Haul for Fall, as one of her features from last week's Sunday Sunshine Blog Hop!!

Thanks again, Laurie!!

Please stop by and link up to these wonderful parties!!

In my last post, I shared how I decorated the top and the floor in front of the TV Entertainment Center in the Living Room in a Nautical/Pirate theme!!!

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

The other area that I decorated in a Coastal/Nautical theme is the area by the stairs.....

But first I want to show you the front door....

I hung a Dollar Tree sign that I embellished last year from the rod....

On the left side of the stairs.....

I made bows from aqua and peach ribbon for the Lanterns....

Wrapped the candles with aqua ribbon and added shells inside the Lanterns....

On the other side of the stairs.....

This year I hung a Sea Horse ornament inside the center of a wreath that I made a few years back.....

A lighted anchor that I bought a few years ago in Big Lot's......

I bought this unfinished Sea Horse in Dollar Tree in the Spring.....

I painted it, added shells......

And a few star fish to it....

I made this glass box several years ago....

In my previous post, I shared these hand made scarves that were made by my Maternal Grandmother....

She tatted the edges on them after cutting them out to fit my mother's vintage Waterfall Bedroom Furniture, which is now my bedroom furniture.......

This is the piece that she made for the center area of the vanity....

I placed it on this chair that I like to use for display.....

This display is dedicated to Starfish.....

I framed this copy of "The Starfish Story" that I ran off from the computer......

I embellished these starfish and shells a few years back.....

Underneath the chair are 2 Lanterns.........

In the evening....

I have 2 of the candles set on aqua and one on peach.....

The LED lighted Branch Tree is not decorated in a Coastal/Nautical theme but with Butterflies, Dragonflies and Birds for Summer.....

I bought these ornaments many years ago after Christmas on Clearance in Big Lot's.....

I placed a vintage peach and ivory doily on the marble topped  table where the Branch Tree is set up.....

I placed 2 Coastal candles and shells around the base of the Tree.......

And of course, I kept out my beautiful gift from my son and DIL, Jim and Danielle, for Mother's Day....

So this is how this corner is decorated for Late Summer....

I now want to share my faux window....

If you are new here, this was a huge mirror made from mirror tiles ( which I recently saw are back in style!) that adhered to the wall and I framed with molding back in the early 80's.....

As time went on and the look went out of style, I realized that I attached it to the brick paneling on this accent wall so well that to remove it, I would also have to remove the paneling....

One day while watching one of my favorite Decorating Shows from the late 80's, Christopher Lowell, I found a solution to the problem...

He did a segment where he disguised something similar to look like a window!!!

Genius!!!

Ever since watching that segment, I have treated this area as if there was a window there......

And I always hang a wreath and other decorations on the mirror.....

For this Coastal/Nautical theme I hung 2 signs that I made on each side of the drapery rod using shower hooks....

I embellished this Dollar Tree sign that I recently bought using aqua tinsel trim and a few shells.....

And hung it in the middle....

I made this wreath several years back....

This year is the first year that I lit the Wreath because after Christmas, I bought a set of only 20 lights with a white wire and it worked out perfectly to light this smaller sized Wreath.....

I also decided to embellish this Fish, that I bought in Dollar General for a Buck, using the same tinsel trim and 2 shells....

I then placed it in the center of the Wreath....

 I like the new look....

 Hanging underneath the Wreath.....

Is a mini outdoor Flag that Joe bought by accident thinking that I would use it outside....

Since it did not go with anything that I had outside, I glued a bunch of shells to it and now use it inside....

This is one of my favorite theme to decorate the Living Room in as it goes so well with my aqua and peach color scheme for this room....

I also hung a sign that I made from the drapery rod on the Living Room window....

 Mermaid....

This area of the Living Room is what I call the "Under the Sea" area as all the decorations here have to do with what lives and is found "Under the Sea"......

And the "Beach" underneath depicts the same "Under the Sea" Theme....

Including things you would find on a "Beach" like Wood Pilings, Fish and even a "Genie in the Bottle"!

Along with shells, rocks and driftwood....

Even a Mermaid.....

Who supposedly have more Fun!!

And of course you have to have a Lighthouse guiding the Ships into shore safely!!

Speaking of Ships.....

There are always Pirates out there sailing the 7 Seas!!!

And of course they would dock at Pirate's Cove and have a drink at a Tavern.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how my imagination ran a bit wild when decorating the Living Room in this Coastal/Nautical theme for Late Summer this year....

I did have a lot of Fun!!!

  2. Your shells are fun. I really should make a shell wreath -- it's such a wonderful idea and I love the blue.
