In my last post, I shared the other area of my upstairs Sitting Room decorated in a Garden theme for Summer....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

I want to Thank Angie, over at God's Growing Garden, for choosing my post, Late Summer/Early Fall Tree in the Kitchen, as one of her features from last week's Tuesday's with a Twist linky party!!

 Thanks again, Angie!!

Please link up and stop by this lovely party!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

I forgot to mention that we spent a wonderful evening last week hosting our niece Renae and Great Nieces Caitlin and Carly for pizza and ice cream....

It was a nice evening spent catching up on what is going on in their lives....

So much so that I forgot to take pictures...

I am so ready for Fall!!

The heat and humidity this Summer has really did me in....

I have mentioned before that my guilty little pleasure is watching You Tube videos of decorating and shopping on the large TV in our Living Room....

My Favorite "Shop with Me" You Tuber is The Queen.....

Another one I like is All Things Autumn...

I watch their videos and know exactly what I am looking for when I go shopping in Dollar Tree, Dollar General , Big Lot's, Micheal's, Hobby Lobby and many more....

And I know when these stores drop their prices because of these You Tubers....

It also saves me a lot of time when I do go shopping because I have a list of what I am looking for and I also know ahead of time what the prices are....

With all this being said, I have a few more Hauls to share with you.....

Fall is my favorite Season of all and I do LOVE to decorate for it as I adore the traditional deep rich Autumn colors....

Dollar Tree

I bought these 3 head stones to use out front.....

I sent Joe back to get 2 more of these fences, also for the front yard.....

For the Kitchen....

For my Beverage Bar area.....

For the Whimsical Halloween display on the Kitchen Hutch.....

I have only one Halloween pot holder so I bought more.....

I will use this in a Candy Corn display on top of the fridge.....

Ollie's....

Ollie's usually has a nice selection of Seasonal flowers......

These, which I will use as fillers for arrangements and wreaths to freshen them up, were only 99 cents a piece.....

They do have bigger, fuller bushes for only $2.99!!

A Halloween flag for the porch....

Only $7.99......

A bit Mackenzie Childs like....

Dollar General Dollar Haul......

All these things were $1 each......

Cheaper than Dollar Tree....

Spiders that I plan on adding to my Autumn topiary for the front porch.....

Creepy cloth to use in various locations in the house....

Another larger pot holder....

To add to an arrangement....

I have plans for this that I am keeping secret for now....

For the Kitchen.....

To possibly add to existing wreaths to freshen them up!

The bottom sign is metal.....

To use in the Kitchen....

Couldn't resist this with the letter of our last name which can be used year round.....

for the Living Room....

For crafting.....

Also for crafting.....

This is the only thing I bought in Dollar General that did not cost $1.....

It was $2 and I am putting it away to use for Easter.....

All of this was $22, plus a few other items which came out to $25 and we had a coupon for $5 off $25!

So I look at this as I got 5 of these items for Free!!!

Gabes.....

I used to shop Gabes a lot pre-pandemic as it reminds me of Value City which went out of business...

They opened at 8:30 am so I would go after I got out of work when they first opened in the mornings....

Gabes has a Reward program too!!

Once you sign up for it, every Dollar spend is a point...

When you reach 50 points, you get a coupon for $5 off $25....

If you spend over $300 a year, then you earn 1,5 points for every Dollar spent....

On Mondays, Seniors over 55 years of age, get 10% off but you can not combine the coupon with that discount....

You also get a $5 coupon for your Birthday....

So we shop there on Mondays to earn our points which are added up before the Senior discount is applied and then when we earn a coupon, we shop on other days....

2 new rugs for the Kitchen as I realized that I have only one fall rug for that room....

$5 each......

$1.49....for a craft project....

Went back on a Monday for the discount and bought these....

I fell in love with this sweet scare crow lady!!

Sh was $14.99...

These were $5.99

This was $9.99.....

It is metal and is going to be used outside.....

Love these rust battery operated candles!!

We now have a $5 off $25 coupon for the next time we shop there....

Big Lot's......

These were 75% off as their summer merchandise is marked down now......

$7.99 , down to $2....

Big Lot's now has a Dollar Spot which is similar to Target's.....

This cute candle was only $2.99!!

I sent Joe back the next day for one more.....

Big Lot's Rewards Program counts each visit when you make a purchase, no matter what the cost is...

3 visits and you receive a $5 off $15 coupon!

You also can use a $15 off $75 coupon in place of the $5 off $15....

You also receive $5 off coupons for your birthday and they often give you a $10 off $40 coupon on your receipt at various times during the year....

Big Lot's also asks for donations at different times of the year for different charities and if you donate $1, you will receive a $5 off $15 coupon....

Now what amazes us is just how many people refuse to donate that $1 to get that coupon....

Very sad, isn't it???

Love these candles lit, don't you????

If you want to see a video featuring Big Lot's Dollar Spot items and other things that were originally sold at Target but are now in Big Lot's, click HERE!!

I had no idea that Big Lot's gets Target's close outs, did you????

They seem to be carrying more and more clothes which are supposedly from Target....

After watching some of the decorating You Tube video's and seeing a few Bloggers decorate with more and more vintage pieces including vintage milk glass and other glassware, I hauled out Joe's maternal Grandmother's Carnival Glass pieces that I have had stashed away in nondescript places....

This is a Sunflower bowl.....

And I have 2 of these....

Joe's Mother gave them to me several years ago because she knew I would keep them as she told me that her own daughters would sell them....

Sad, but true....

I will be using them in the Living Room which i decorate in an elegant Autumn theme.....

My son Joey has been after me to decorate the outside of our house for Halloween for a few years now....

I used to go all out when the boys were young but only decorated for Fall outside since they got older...

Fall 2022

I do put out a few Jack O Lanterns that I did not get rid of when the boys got older....

And I do use orange lights....

One of our local TV stations features not only Christmas houses decorated for Christmas but Halloween Houses too....

This has only enticed Joey more into trying to persuade me to decorate the outside of our house for Halloween....

If it was up to him, we would have two 16 ft. skeletons attached to each pillar of the porch!!!!

We do not get Trick or Treaters anymore like we did when my sons were young and that has also been a reason why I mainly just decorated for Fall outside.....

Joey pointed out that no one really sees my Halloween decorations inside the house so what is the difference with the outside because I would still be doing it for us....

Point taken.....

I also had several people on FB tell me that they decorate the outside of their homes for Halloween even though they do not get any Trick or Treaters either but do so because they just love Halloween!!

Point taken again.....

So.....

I will be adding a few Halloween decorations to the outside of the house this year at the end of September...

Joe and Joey are thrilled...

When the boys were young, I would set up our slope with tombstones and various creatures popping out of their "graves"....

Since I do not want Joe to break his neck on our slope, I will be turning this flower bed into a little "cemetery"!

I am going to be adding those black spiders to this topiary which does light up at night....

I will also be adding a few more Halloween things to this bench....

And painting these old faux pumpkins....

I made a few things, I bought a few things and I can pull a few things from my Dining Room to use outside.....

I will decorate the front of the house for Fall first the day after Labor Day like I always do weather permitting....

Closer to October, I will add the Halloween things....

I have been doing a bit of  Falloween "Dabbling" so I will be sharing that on FRIDAY in my next post....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on FRIDAY!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. You are always an amazing shopper! I am going to have to google the closest Gabes and take a field trip. They seem to have some really great stuff! I used to decorate for Halloween and trick or treaters, too. My favorite was a ghost hidden in my trees that was noise activiated. When the kids said "trick or treat", it would slowly fly over their heads to the other side of the porch (on an invisible string). I actually staged a "barely scary" haunted house at our church's halloween party, too - the stand out there was my electric chair (a wooden chair constructed by my husband with a child wrapped in orange lights. The power strip was on the arm of the chair and the child would flip the lights on and shake when people rounded the corner in the dark). Then our church decided we couldn't celebrate Halloween anymore. I had accumulated too much to bring home and store and ended up selling it to someone who stages a haunted trail. And now I just decorate for fall at home.

  2. I love those battery operated candles because I have cats and don't like lighting real ones. I've been lucky to have found some at estate sales that must be the really good quality ones because the batteries last a minimum of six months and they have timers so I don't have to run around switching them on then remembering to turn them back off.
"Now what amazes us is just how many people refuse to donate that $1 to get that coupon....

    Very sad, isn't it???"

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe some would rather donate directly to a cause they believe in instead of a donation that will require them to spend another $10 to a corporation before they can use the "benefit"? I'll be honest, I almost never donate when a store asks me to because I like to research a charity first to make sure they are actually going to use my donation for the stated purpose and not for overhead and staff salaries.

  3. Thank you so much for stopping by, I have many battery operated candles....some that you have to switch off and on, some with remote control and some that work on Timers... I love them..
As far as store donations, I agree with you if they were asking for a donation in excess of $20 or more but this is only a Buck....and it is usually for local or national organizations that are quite reputable...We always give when stores ask because usually they only ask you to round it up to the nearest Dollar for a donation and it is usually for the United Way or Red Cross...Again, only a Buck or under....and I feel that that is not going to break anybody's bank even if they do not use the coupon which is given as a Thank You and not an enticement...We always use the coupon though...I hope you have a great week!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

  4. Super haul, Deb . I love seeing what is available in fall decor. I have picked up a few things from the Dollar Tree and Dollar General, but I will have to keep visiting our DT in hopes that they put out some of the things you have found. Your Carnival glass is gorgeous and will look beautiful in a fall vignette. Enjoy your week. Hugs.

  6. This post just reminded me that I should visit the dollar tree to get some fall decor. Last year they had colorful fake flowers and mini plastic pumpkins. Those are great for me because I can be trusted with real plants! 😂
