Today, I am going to be sharing a bit of Falloween Crafting!!

In my last post, I shared some Falloween Buys....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For years, I have been saying that when it came time to put yet another "New" roof on our 46 year old townhouse, we would make the decision to stay or to move to a maintenance free apartment.....

Well, I guess we are staying as I had a leak from the last heavy rain we had that dumped an inch and a quarter of rain in a few hours...

I had a small puddle on my floor in my downstairs Powder Room!!

It came down from the area around the exhaust pipe which has been fixed several times...

So we called a local roofer, who has done work in our development, and our neighbor Trish, who owns the house next to us, and both of us will be getting a new roof...

There may be 7 other neighbors who will be in on this and the more there are, the cheaper it will be for all of us...

25 years ago, we did the same thing where several of us had a roofs done at the same time by the same contractor....

He did go up on our roof and did a quick fix until we can have the new roof done and he did not charge us...

Of course after much debate, he did take some money from Joe to "buy himself some lunch"!

Hopefully this will work, if not he told us to call him and he will come and tarp it if he has to because the plywood in that area is almost deteriorated...

This is when I really HATE being a home owner....

On a much brighter note.....

HAPPY FALL!!!

Meteorological Fall that is!!

This is the Fall that I prefer to go by!!

It actually makes more sense as it is science based on the weather....

While Astronomical Fall is based on the position of the Earth in relation to the Sun....

Which I have no idea what that actually has to do with anything that has to do with me.....

So I wish you all Happy Fall!!!

This is my favorite Season of the year.....

It always has been and it always will be....

And I have been itching to decorate for it but I always hold off until after Labor Day which is thought of as the official end of Summer...

So on Tuesday of next week, I will start by decorating the Front Porch and Yard for Fall....

This year, in the beginning of October, I will be changing Fall out for Halloween outside....

And with that being said, I have been making a few Halloween decorations for the Front Porch and Yard....

Back in the early Spring while I was out on a walk, I found a water jug behind our dumpsters.....

After seeing these pictures on Pinterest, I knew what I wanted to do with it....

I used spray paint that I had in my stash to paint it orange.......

And chose a face to paint on it....

Next I poured some sand and a few red landscape rocks into it so it would be weighted down.....

Next, I sprayed a sealer on it....

I decided to use a can from soup to cover the opening at the top so I spray painted it a gold/yellow before gluing it in place.....

I added some leaves and topped it off with a cork....

Next I added a bow made from black sheer ribbon along with a few black pipe cleaners and another bow I made from orange deco mesh rope.....

I will use this on the Front Porch.....

I did a bit of reorganizing in our Storage Room last week and went through my box of scrap wood pieces.....

And I found these....

I decided to make a pumpkin out of them.....

After gluing them together, I painted it.....

And tied a bow around the top made from a rope I also found in our storage room......

I will also use this outside......

I looked back on my posts of my Fall outdoor decorations and realized that my faux pumpkins, which are over 10+ years old, were looking a bit worse for wear....

This one actually cracked in half when I packed it away last year.....

So I thought .....

I can work with that!!!

I again spray painted the 2 halves with paint in my stash....

Next, I looked for ideas again on Pinterest and came up with these!!

 A skull face...

And a spider web....

I will be gluing a spider to the spider web one...

Bare in mind that I am no artist......

I will be hanging these on the weeping mortar of the front porch after I thread some wire on a needles to create a hanger for them..........

Next I decided to take 2 more of the faux pumpkins that I used outside for years and make a topiary out of them.....

This one caught my eye on Pinterest.....

And this is my version......

I copied the faces to the best of my ability after spray painting the pumpkins white using what I had in my stash......

I made a bow tie out of sheer black tulle with silver spider webs on it from Dollar Tree......

This will also go somewhere on the Front Porch......

I also made bows for the porch railing out of deco mesh ribbon in my stash........

And that's it right now for the Front Porch and Yard....

You may remember these items that I got at the Church Flea Market recently....

When I saw those orange thread spools I immediately thought of Pumpkins!!!

A few years ago, I made these out of ivory ones.....

Here is what I came up with for the orange ones....

I used a roll that I saved after I used up the ribbon that was on it and covered it with burlap for the stem.....

Those rolls are made from stronger cardboard than toilet paper rolls.....

I glued leaves from Dollar Tree on it...

And I found this brown ribbon in my stash for the bows.....

I also did a floral arrangement in the ceramic pumpkin......

Using the picks that I bought from Dollar General for $1 each....

And I cut stems off of these that I bought in Ollie's for 99 cents....

All these pumpkins will be used in my Living Room.....

Speaking of Pumpkins.....

I recently bought these at Dollar Tree.....

I embellished them a bit....

Dollar Tree leaves ( came in a pack of 50) and some I made from burlap....

Black pipe cleaners, a few ribbon flowers and a bow made from rope right out of our Storage Room....

I will use these in the Kitchen......

I bought these in Dollar Tree also for the Kitchen.....

Of course, I had to do a bit of "dabbling"....

I added a few leaves and pumpkins from Dollar Tree to them.....

And trimmed them with gimp from my stash....

These 2 signs will hang on each side of the Kitchen sink on the cabinet doors...

I did get to do a bit of straightening up and reorganizing in my Craft Room last week and a came across a few things that I used for some Halloween crafting...

I painted this wooden book box black and the "pages" gold....

I then decoupaged white tissue paper on the "cover"....

Next I painted black over the tissue paper......

And decoupaged a graphic on it and added some moons and stars....

Along with that book, I found a vintage aluminum tray in my craft stash.....

I dry brushed it black .....

And painted the flowers and leaves in it gold....

Both the Spell book and the tray will be used in my Dining Room as I will be decorating the inside of my Hutch for Halloween for the first time this year.....

I also found 3 wooden blocks with hangers on the back of them.....

Truth be told, I have no idea where these came from!!!!

But I thought of wood blocks being sold in the Dollar Stores for Halloween...

So I painted them black....

And added Letter stickers to them!!!

The letters were bigger than I thought so the "D" is off the block a bit on the "Haunted" one but who cares....

I will be using these in my Powder Room.....

I also made a Witch's Hat from a cone, a round circle of a foam like material used for packaging and a card board circle.....

I covered it with fabric I had and gimp trim.....

I still want to add more but I will have to wait until I unpack some Halloween decorations from the Dining Room , where I will display this, to do so....

And that about finishes up my Falloween crafting for now....

There are a few things that I still want to do but I have to wait until I move everything downstairs and start unpacking things...

I guess you can tell just how excited I am for this Season to begin....

I am a huge fan of Halloween and loved it as a child and then again when my sons were young as I made every single costume they wore!!

They never wore store bought costumes and it was fun coming up with something unique and different each year...

I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and get to spend some time with those you love even if you are among those that will have to "Labor" on the weekend!!!!!

  1. I hate the big bucks we spend to maintain our homes! I always would say, how come the neighbors can got to Disney yet we have to buy a roof, or a furnace, or replace windows, or re-wire? And now I say How Can It Be Time to Replace Those . . . Somehow 15-25 years has passed in a blink of an eye! My favorite was when my husband called me at work in the middle of winter to tell me he came home to a cold house and we needed a new furnace ASAP! I was fuming until I did the math and realized it was 29 years old. Then I just fumed about the cost. But the good news is you will have a nice dry home and won't have to worry about it. I hope lots of neighbors join in to lower the price!

Your crafts are adorable! I am slowly thinking about changing the seasons at our house. Maybe I will start this weekend.

  2. Happy September, Deb and Happy Friday. You are so talented and creative to see the potential in items and elevate them to make them even more special. I would have never thought to turn the spools of crochet yarn into pumpkins. The orange ones are so vibrant. Beautiful job on the florals in the pumpkin as well. Thank you for sharing and giving inspiration for fall crafting. I just love this time of the year. Have a great Labor Day weekend. Hugs.

  5. I get those hate being a homeowner moments. Necessary and absolutely no fun. But that's a great idea, getting a good rate by bundling roof work with the neighbors. Love your fun crafty stuff, too!

  6. I am very excited for fall this year. I’ve fallen in love with the autumn aesthetic. I love the apple cider and cozy decorations. The leaves just turn brown and die where I’m from, but I love look at other people’s photos of the pretty scenery. I make up for the lack of scenery by putting on a few fall themed outfits! Also you Halloween decorations really make me cheery. Honestly I would be happy skipping to Halloween at this point. It gives me an opportunity to celebrate and hang out with friends!
