And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

I have steered away from showing a lot of Food lately as I realize that those who are on a journey toward a more healthier Life Style like I am, do not need pictures of Food flashed in front of them to tempt them.....

I found that by leaving a few FB Food Groups, it helped me immensely in my Journey.....

Out of sight, out of mind so to speak....

But since it is Lent, I wanted to share some of the Lenten Food Sale items that are very prevalent in NEPA during this time....

NEPA is an area where many of the Eastern European immigrants settled in the early 1900's as they came here to work in the Coal Mines in the region....

And the ethnic food brought here by those immigrants still reigns supreme in this area, especially during Lent....

Last Friday, we decided to support our local Fire Company who holds a weekly ( on Fridays) Lenten Food Sale...

We got the Pierogies....

Potato Pancakes.....

This one was in a pizza form where others are double crusted like a pie, both equally delicious!!

And Sicilian Pizza......

Everything was delicious and Joe bought enough food for 2 meals for the 3 of us!!

Well, worth the $38 it only cost....

On Saturday, Joey treated us to Mission BBQ which is only 5 minutes down the road from us.....

Joey got a pulled chicken sandwich with fries...

I got the turkey sandwich....

And Joe got a pulled pork sandwich.....

And we also got a Vat of their wonderful Mac N Cheese....

Very inexpensive for all that you get....

We finally had a bit of Winter Monday night into Tuesday morning!!

At 6 am in the morning on Tuesday.....

We got about 2 inches of Snow that changed to a Wintery Mix....

My neighbor Melanie bet us in shoveling all the sidewalks in front of our row of townhouses....

Some pretty Winter pictures, finally.....

Even though February was one of our warmest on record with close to the least amount of Snow Fall, I have a feeling that Mother Nature will correct herself in March....

We have had some of our BEST Snowstorms in March here in NEPA...

Our Grand Pups stayed overnight on Sunday....

Jim and Danielle are very active and work an odd night time shift so I am totally convinced that the pups use their time with us to catch up on their sleep....

This is now how they sleep with me on the sofa at night....

You can see that Faye now sleeps between my legs!!

Even after Joe came downstairs and I was having my coffee, watching the morning news....

And still after I got dressed later in the morning....

Sleepy little girls.....

LOL!

Today, I am going to be sharing half of my Saint Patrick's Day decorations....

I only decorate for Saint Patrick's Day out in the Den as the rest of the downstairs is decorated for Easter by then.....

I usually decorate the China Cupboard and the area surrounding it.....

I like to use my set of green Old Curiosity Shop dishes that I bought a few years back at a Salvation Army Thrift Store......

Along with a few pieces of green depression glass....

I am breaking this up into 2 posts so today, I will be sharing the top and the inside of the China Cupboard....

The top of the China Cupboard.....

I used a Wreath stand to place a wreath that I made a few years ago in the center.....

I used a few pieces of the Old Curiosity Shop dishes.....

And added a few Saint Patrick's Day decorations...

I bought the vintage style plaques in Micheal's a few years ago...

This Home Interiors figurine reminds me of an Irish Lass....

 Inside the China Cupboard....

I also used a tea set that I bought at T J Maxx

Top shelf....

Vintage Saint Patrick's Day post cards...

Pot of gold a leprechaun and gold coins....

 An angel....

Middle shelf.....

I bought the tea pots, which are ornaments, at The Christmas Tree Shop....

Saint Patrick's Day ornaments in the cups.....

A vintage green depression glass compute bowl trimmed in gold...

The bottom shelf....

The pipes were bought at Michael's.....

Another leprechaun sitting on top of a pot of gold....

I will be sharing the area surrounding the China Cupboard in my next post on MONDAY...

Along with a few crafts.....

And my Saint Patrick's Day Tree.....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY!!!

  1. I am almost jealous of your snow. We really haven't had winter yet this year. Aside from a bad, really bad, storm in mid-December, it has been almost spring-like here. Storms go below us, storms go above us - the snow skips us. This weekend there are big snowstorms in the forecast, but we are getting rain. Lots of rain. It is going to rain an additional 2 inches tomorrow and I quit listening when they started on Sunday. I saw clouds with rain drops on every day in the forecast. You know just where to find the best food in your area! I love the all the green for St Patrick's day - so festive.

  2. Debbie, that's a LOT more than a BIT of green! We got about four inches last night. I'm really over winter but I have to say your photos look pretty!

  5. Green is my favourite colour, need to buy a new shamrock plant for this year. We have had 2 bigt snow storms, one on the last day of February and one overnight to March 5. Each dumped about 15-20 cm of snow on us. Counting down the days till spring. Have a good weekend.

  8. Oh Debbie, I am in LOVE with your green dishes! I wish we had a nice thrift shop in my area, but there is really never anything much there when I have visited in the past. The food looks yummy, and I am always so amazed when you share the cost. Food is pretty expensive in my area. Those pups, they steal your heart quick. I do not like my pup sleeping between my legs, but I let him do it anyway. He is 70 pounds and so I feel like I am being held down. Your St. Patrick's Day decorations are so lovely, and I cannot wait to see more! Where did you find ornaments for St. Patty's Day? Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing with us at Whimsy Home Wednesday, and I was so happy to share your post and family photos!
