Early Spring Patio, Minus the Flowers

  Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing my back Patio now that I have cleaned it up after the Winter with all it's snow and ice.....

But first, I want to Thank Karren, over at Oh My Heartsie Girl!, for featuring my post, Storage Ideas in the Craft Room, as her feature from last week's Wonderful Wednesday Linky party!!!

 Thanks so much, Karren!!

And I also want to Thank Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for choosing the same post, Storage Ideas in my Craft Room, as one of her features from last week's Thursday Favorites Link Party!!!

 Thanks once again, Bev!!

Please stop by and link up to these great parties!!!

In my last post, I shared a wonderful gift that I received from my FB friend, Angela, who is a gifted Miniaturist.....

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

You may remember that I also previously shared these Easter items that Joe bought in Big Lot's at 90 % off......

Click HERE if you missed this post....

I do plan on upcycling some of them and I started with this one.....

I thought this is cute, it is not my style.....

I decided to use some of my OOPS paint that I picked up at Lowe's some time ago and paint the unfinished wood perimeter a nice pale yellow.....

Did you know that every Lowe's has a section of paint that maybe was returned because it was the wrong color or discontinued color samples like this one that I bought for $1.00?

It's called the OOPS Paint table.....

I replaced the burlap bow with a bow made from red burlap ribbon that I had in my stash.....

I think this will look perfect in my Kitchen next Easter.....

They say April showers bring May flowers and since Wednesday evening, we have had one inch of rain!!!

Some of the May flowers that April showers bring are Lilacs.....

And luckily, the buds on my lilac tree are beginning to open after the extreme changes in our weather this month.....

Hopefully they will survive yet another round of cold temperatures in the 30's and snow showers predicted for this morning.....

This is the Purple Leaf Sand Cherry shrub that I pruned into a tree......

2 years ago, I pruned the bejesus out of it in an attempt to either revive it or kill it!!

I guess I revived it!!!

I had more visitors in our back yard again.....

This is a parent Morning Dove and a Baby Dove.....

They do seem to like our back yard.....

It has been quite an interesting week to say the least.....

I finally was able to see my family Doctor who I could not go to for 3 years because of Healthcare insurance stipulations....

I spoke with him about my sensitivity to medications and vaccines and with his blessing, I have an appointment to receive my first shot of the Moderna vaccine next week...

I am planning on getting ill from it because I usually have a reaction and become ill from just about everything under the Sun....

Our son Joey felt that he was on Death's Door after his second shot of the Pfizer vaccine but it only lasted for about 40 hours..

Joe had the J&J vaccine some time ago and all he got was a headache but that is so typical of Joe because he seldom ever gets sick with anything!!!

I now have new neighbor's on the side of me and I can not even tell you the amount of damage in that house .....

It is nothing like I have ever seen in my entire life.....

Our new neighbor is a Drug Rep who sells Chemo drugs and bought it for her adopted daughter and grand son...

They have already ripped out carpeting, baseboard molding, tile in the Kitchen, etc

She is gutting the entire house

Take my word for it that she HAS to do this to make it livable again!!!!!

About 2 weeks ago, we decided to clean off the back Patio and get it ready for the Summer.....

Joe moved everything off the patio so we could clean it...

Joe took a seat to supervise......

I swept off the concrete block first.....

You can see that my faux brick paint treatment did not hold up well being exposed to the elements and all the ice and snow here in NEPA in the Winter....

I do recommend it in a sun room or an enclosed area, protected from the elements.....

Did you notice that I matched our storm door to our windows?????

I then rolled out the outdoor carpet that we bought last year at Ollies for under $30!!!

Even if I only get this one more year out of it, I feel it was worth the money.....

Next, I laid down the outdoor mats that I bought at Ocean State Job Lot for $10 each last year.....

I then hung the wreaths.....

A hanging wicker basket filled with faux greenery and one of the wreaths I bought at a church Flea Market....

Another wreath on the back door....

I cleaned the garden mirror....

Then I cleaned all the furniture and unpacked all the patio decor that Joe brought up from our storage shed.......

And now the Patio is ready for the Summer.......

All that is left to do is plant the annuals in all the pots but I will be waiting until right before Memorial Day to do so as I have learned in recent years that we can have the threat of frost up until that time.....

This is what I call my side of the Patio because this is where I sit.....

The other side of the Patio.....

Joe's side because this is where He usually sits.....

This is more of a "working" side of the Patio because this is where my Baker's Rack/ Potting Stand is.....

Now all that is left to do is to plant all my pots with annuals ...

My Dad used to say that it was never safe to do so here in NEPA until after Mother's Day but in recent years, I have lost annuals to frost after Mother's Day had passed...

So I will wait until the week of Memorial Day to be on the safe side and I am also attempting to grow some flowers from seed too....

I hope you enjoyed this tour of our little back Patio....

I will be sharing it again once the flowers are planted...

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. Yes Debbie, I enjoyed looking at the tour of your back patio. It looks so bright and cheery. I have only taken out a few chairs. I need to take more out of the garage once it gets warmer out. I can't wait to do the outdoor planting of flowers and herbs after Mother's Day. Have a nice weekend Debbie.

  2. I wish I had a patio. Rick does and we'll be getting it pulled together soon, although our weather is still a little dicey. I look forward to finally being up north in another month or two!

  3. Gosh, your patio is just beautiful! It looks like a cottage magazine cover! What a restful space to send your time. So glad your doctor (that you trust) has been able to review the vaccine and feels it is safe enough for you to try. Our experience with Moderna was a very sore arm starting that evening and into the next day. No headaches or anything else. After the second shot, just napping. We actually sat here both times with the clock ticking waiting for side effects to hit. LOL. The sore arm wasn't all that painful, but it was so stiff I had trouble putting dishes on the shelf. I hope you have minimal effects, too.

I really wish we could have play by play photos of the rehab next door! I bet you are so happy you could dance. What a nightmare and now a rainbow at the end of the storm. It sounds like they knew what they were getting into and are doing it right. It sounds like it needed totally gutted and a fresh start. I also bet your husband will love this. We had a house rebuilt on our street and it kept my husband entertained for months. He kept track of deliveries and workmen's hours. We would have to go for a walk every night to check the progress. He was not above peeking in windows. Every once in a while a family member would come by and he would even get to go inside. He was the unpaid supervisor of the project.

  4. I was so looking forward to this post, Deb. Your patio is always so cheerful and such a delight to visit. What a wonderful space to relax the evening away or drink your morning coffee. Of course I am coming away with some decorating ideas to use on my own porch and patio. You are always an inspiration .Have a beautiful week, dear, Deb. Hugs.
