A Few Seasonal Changes in the Kitchen......

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

Today, I want t share a few Late Summer Changes that I made in the Kitchen.....

Thanks, Kristie, over at Love My Little Cottage, for choosing my post, A Gentleman's Dresser, as one of your features from last week's Little Cottage Link Party!!!
Thanks so much, Kristie!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

My Personal Updates......

Now is the time of year that I start baking a lot of zucchini bread and freeze it so that I have it for the upcoming Holidays.......
Who knows what this year's Holidays will look like but I will be prepared no matter what!!!

In my last post, I revealed what my Word of the Month for August is.......
BREATHE!!!

Click HERE if you missed that post about why i chose this as my Word of the Month......

I have packed away all my Garden, Porch and Patio magazines and got out all my Fall/Halloween ones to peruse through, looking for inspiration for the coming Holiday and Fall Season which is my favorite Season of the Year!!!
Quite a stash I have, don't I????
Speaking of Fall and Halloween, I saw these on Big Lot's web site and even though I swore up and down that I was not going to buy anything new in the way of decorations, they just caught my eye.....

Joe ran down and bought them......
The cashier told him that they were flying off the shelves!!
He ran down the next day to pick up both for my niece Renae, who loved them, but all they had left was the one Halloween globe!!!
I have learned over the years that when I see something I like, I buy it because more often than not, it is gone when I go back for it!!!
Joe and Joey stopped in to Gabes over the weekend , who was just putting out their decorations......

He bought these , which I will use in my Kitchen, for only $1.99 each!!!!
I do decorate the Kitchen in both a Fall/ Halloween theme for the upcoming Season!!
And we bought a new printer!!!
We had had an HP printer which I liked but about 2 years ago, Joe felt we needed a new one......

Why is beyond me as I felt the one we had worked just fine but Joe does like to shop and spend money!!

Well, the Epson one that he bought ate ink cartridges like they were candy even though we used the printer very little...mainly for printing out his work schedule.....

We spent a small fortune on ink cartridges and I hated that printer!!!

So to avoid spending any more on ink cartridges, Joe and Joey went to Sam's Club and bought this HP printer for $85......
We also enrolled in their Instant Ink program in which they send you a cartridge based on your usage and you pay a monthly fee which is cheaper than the cost of one ink cartridge!!!

So now, with the brand new monitor and tower that my son, Joey, who is an IT specialist, used from his stash to replace my old ones........
And the new wireless keyboard and mouse that he bought for me all in appreciation for having him stay here with us in the early months of this health crisis and for coming here now for Dinner daily....

And now with our new printer,,,,,
I have a whole brand new set up!!
He also upgraded my laptop for me, buying whatever he needed to do so and also bought a new, more efficient and longer lasting battery and mouse for it!!

I wanted to put a small TV in the upstairs sitting room, which was the only room in the house except for the Kitchen and bathrooms that do not have a TV in them.....

Joey gave me a small TV that he was no longer using......
And bought a $10 antenna, which amazingly picks up 26 HD TV channels, including the major networks!!!
This has allowed me to now have a TV in this room without needing cable for it!!!
Joey has 2 of these antennas, one for each of his TV's in his apartment, in case the cable goes out, he will have back up.....

Now I will too......

I am so glad that I have my very own IT specialist and Electronic wiz!!

He's a good kid!!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am still on my deep cleaning kick and just finished the Den.....
I will be moving into the Powder Room today....

Tropical Storm Isiasis rolled through our area on Tuesday and dumped 2 1/2 inches of rain on my yard.....
Some areas of the Pocono Mountains got over 6 inches of rain....

Amazingly so, this was the sky in the evening......
You would never know that a Tropical Storm came through in the morning and afternoon.....

Yesterday, was one of my Carpe Diem Days......

It was a nice day with low humidity for once and a temp. about 80 degrees......

I took advantage of it and spent a few hours on the front porch reading a book, seizing the day.....

When I deep cleaned the Kitchen, I made some changes for the late Summer......
After Labor Day, I will be replacing this yellow milk can with my 4 1/2 foot Tree and decorating it for the Fall/Halloween Season......
On the shelf of the chalkboard.....
I placed the Gold Medal Flour tin in a vintage loaf pan......
Along with a red and white checked dish towel........
It gives this area a Summery look if there is such a thing.....
You may remember that this was how the desk area of the Kitchen Hutch looked in the beginning of the Summer.....
I had decorated it in a Strawberry theme.....
I decided to change it up for the late Summer....
I decided to go with a cool Summer beverage theme.....
I used a few vintage pieces.....
A vintage milk glass lamp in the corner.....
That I placed in a vintage yellow fiesta ware bowl......
One of my neighbor Elly's vintage mashers....
I replaced the strawberry tray that I hung here in the beginning of the Summer......
With this enamel tray that I bought at Michael's a few years back......
Some faux treats.......
A cinnamon scented candle in a green depression glass dish......
Goodies in a jadite bowl......
This vintage glass pitcher and set of dishes was my neighbor Ellys......
I placed the pitcher on a vintage dish from Poland with a doily on top of it...
I also changed the place mat and used this red and white striped one.....
In the corner.....
More vintage mashers.....
A faux pie in a yellow fiesta ware bowl.......
Can you picture some fresh squeezed Lemonade in this pitcher?????
Or freshly brewed Iced Tea?????
On the side of the stove, I sewed a rod pocket on top of this sweet vintage towel and hung it.....
Depicted is 3 levels of a Victorian house....
I changed this valance......
Out for one I made from a vintage embroidered tablecloth topper.......
I like how it brightens up the area....
And I also changed this valance out too.....
And hung this one that I made from the other half of the vintage embroidered table topper.....
Over by the Beverage Center.....
I also used another red and white striped place mat.....
Not long ago, Joe bought a clear acrylic board that will protect the place mat from spills.....
I changed out some of the owrds that i had written on this shelf that I painted with black chalkboard paint......
And this is how the Kitchen will look until I decorate it for Fall/Halloween after Labor Day.....
I hope you enjoyed seeing the changes that I made to the Kitchen for late Summer....

And I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  4. The ornaments look nice that's great he was able to find some of them for you.
So nice your son can help with the computer stuff. We had an HP and had the same problem with ink, we went to a Canon this time and it seems to be better.
    Cool cloud pictures!

  5. Oh, Deb. Your kitchen and den look awesome. I love the refreshing beverage theme that you decorated the hutch in. You have so many lovely vintage treasures. And how cute to use the loaf pan to put a vintage tin and tea towel in. I completely understand about having a printer eat up the ink cartridges . I hope you continue to like your new printer. It sounds like a good deal in respect to the ink usage. Also fabulous idea on pulling out seasonal magazine. I definitely need to do that. Thank you for another great post. Hugs, Melisa.

  6. That was a great idea to sew a rod pocket so you could hang your vintage towel. The vintage tablecloth valance is so pretty!

  7. So many cute fall finds! I am pretty jealous of all the rain you got; we barely even had it sprinkle here but we did have enough wind to knock out the power for several days. Thanks for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.
