Garden Tea Table in the Sitting Room

  Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing my Garden themed Tea Table in the Sitting Room......

I posted this in 2019 but today, I am linking up to the If I Had a Tea cup Link Party!!!

But first my Personal Notes.......

We are starting our 5th week since our oldest son, Joey, has moved back in with us because of this health crisis that the world is in......

It has been over 10 years since he first moved out to his own apartment which is in the Apartment Complex right up the street from us......

I have to say that it has been a joy having him here with us.....

Joey and I think alike and share many of the same views about things which I do have to say annoys Joe to no end because Joe's views are grossly opposite from mine in so many ways!!

I LOVE it that I have a partner in crime now with Joey being here.....

I have been cooking a lot more because Joey and I like the same types of foods where Joe is extremely picky and will only eat certain things.....

Usually I would cook for Joe and I would eat a sandwich or a can of soup because I did not want to eat what I cooked for him.....

So now, I am actually eating better.....

Joey and Joe are enjoying each other's company in the evening watching many of the Pittsburgh Penguins old games being shown again....

And we even have Joey watching the Masked Singer with us!!

I was finally right when I guessed that the Banana was one of my favorites, Brett Michaels from Poison!!!
Joe is having a hard time having to wear a mask at work now and has tried several different types...

I think it is because he was a smoker for over 50 years before he quit 3 years ago when he first retired.....

He finds it hard to breathe wearing a mask for 4-6 hours at a time even though miraculously he has no lung issues from smoking for that long a period of time.....

Working at Wegman's , even though he only works 15- 20 hours a week normally, he is entitled to one FREE pair of slip resistant shoes every 6 months!!!

He ordered these New Balance shoes which cost $99!!
They even ship them straight to the store.....
Joe said they are very comfortable......
An Interesting conversation with a neighbor happened last Saturday...

He asked Joe if he was scared to go to work at Wegman's and did he want to quit....

Joe said "No, he was not scared and No, he never thought of quitting"...

Our neighbor then said that he has been thanked for his service as a Veteran many times and he then thanked Joe for his service during this health crisis.....

One of the few times Joe did not know what to say....

And wouldn't you know it, for the first time this week, a worker at Wegman's, where Joe works, tested positive for the virus....

It is a young man who is home, the isolated area in which he worked was deep cleaned, workers who he was exposed to are home in self isolation and Joe had absolutely no contact what so ever with this person and never met him.....

Joe will continue to work part time at Wegman's because he feels that it is as safe as it can possibly be there for their workers because of the following measures.....

Wegman's response to this pandemic has been based on the advice of a Physician that is employed by Wegman's who normally coordinates their food and employee safe practices....

All employees now have to check into a Wellness area upon arriving at work where their temperature is taken and they are asked questions about their health......

Should they have a fever of 100 degrees or more, they are sent home with pay and have to be checked by a physician.......

Wegman's was the first store in this area to install Plexiglass at all check outs on BOTH sides of the check out, institute 6 foot social distancing at the check out and sanitizing the check out area between EACH customer along with having cashiers close down their registers every half hour so they can go and wash their hands in addition to using the hand sanitizers at the check outs....

They are packaging their deli meats in one pound packages to avoid customer to employee contact and also doing so in other areas...

They are paying their 50,000 employees an additional $2.00 an hour for the entire months of March, April and May along with discount coupons for purchases and free merchandise....

They are providing cloth and disposable masks for their employees.....

We are BLESSED that everyone in our family is still working and not waiting for unemployment compensation like so many others are........

I spoke about this in a past post called,Weathering the Storm But We Are Not All in the Same Boat....
Click HERE if you missed that post....

We are trying to support local small businesses by ordering Take Out but I can't help by wonder how many Small Business owner's will be left in financial ruin and forced to close after this is all over.....

I also wonder how many others will lost their homes and their jobs....

I know there are a lot of prayers being said during this time.......

A long time ago, a priest told me that people should NOT pray to God asking him for things but should pray to God THANKING him for the Blessings that he has bestowed upon you......
Since then, I do pray to God and THANK him at the end of each day for keeping my family safe and healthy for one more day....

I think that is all any of us can ask for, don't you?????

In previous posts, I shared my Fairy Garden Mantel on my faux Fire Place in the Sitting Room.....
Click HERE if you missed it.....

And the "hearth" area of the fire place and how I made use of the storage that this piece provides......
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

In keeping with the Garden theme in the Sitting Room, in this corner, is a round table that I decorated it in a Garden Tea theme......

This is the corner where my new 4 1/2 foot white Tree was set up for Christmas.....
This is how the corner looks now......
For today, I am just going to share the Tea Table as I will be sharing the rest of this corner in my next post.....
This room was my youngest son Jim's room......
I embellished this lamp shade along with another one in this room.....
Here is a better look with the lamp off......
The tea table.....
On the left side....
This is a vase that I bought at a flea market for $1.00......
Yellow and a bright pink is pretty much the main colors that I have used to decorate this room.....
The vintage creamer and sugar bowl are part of a tea set that I bought many years ago at a church Flea Market for $8.00!!
It had 4 tea cups and saucers with it!!!
The yellow bird was bought at Michael's......
The lamp is a vintage Capodimonte lamp that was given to me by a wonderful older couple who were antique dealers.....
I have a thing for vintage lamps.........
Joe and I once had a deal that for every hockey jersey he bought, I got another lamp.......

Do you know how many lamps I have in this house and how many Hockey jerseys he has????

Lol!!
In the middle of the table......
Is a pretty vintage plate and a tea cup with fairies inside of it that I bought last year at Big Lot's......
In the center, is a garden stepping stone from Dollar Tree surrounded on each side by flower seed packets.....
On the right side of the table.......
On a pedestal, sits the Tea Pot.......
The pattern on this vintage Tea Set is called Ribbons and Roses.....
A fairy bought at Jo Ann Fabrics years ago.....
I tipped the tea cup so you could see how pretty this pattern on it is......
A tea spoon with a cute tea pot on the handle seemed fitting for this setting.....
A vintage scarf with pink tatting around it that my maternal Grandmother made adorns the top of the table.....
It is on top of a vintage topper........
A vintage hanky, also with a tatted border, is placed in the center of the table......
The vintage topper has pockets on all 4 corners.......
For tea bags!!!!
I bought this cute topper at a church flea market......
So cute, aren't they?????
I added the ruffle, made from an old bed sheet, to the bottom of the blue tablecloth......
And used the same tassel trim to embellish it a bit that I used on the lamp shade......
Next to the table is a vintage Ice Cream Parlor like chair.....
I bought it many years ago at a yard sale and painted it pink.......
I reupholstered the chair again using the same bed sheet as I used for the ruffle on the tablecloth....
I also made pillows for this chair and also for the recliner in the room.....
Sitting on this chair are my sons Cabbage Patch dolls......
Remember how crazy people were to get Cabbage Patch Dolls when they first came out????
NEPA made National news because of the manager of Wilkes Barre's Zayre's Department Store, wielding a baseball bat to fight off customers that mobbed the store looking for Cabbage Patch dolls!!!

Click HERE to see the video which made National news and is part of NYC's WABC archives!!!

At the time, Joe was working as Shipping and Receiving manager for a local store and had access to as many Cabbage Patch Dolls as he wanted so I had no trouble getting them for our young sons.....
I hope you enjoyed seeing my Garden Tea Table.......

In my next post, I will be sharing the rest of this corner of the Sitting Room and possibly the rest of the room if I get pictures taken.......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and happy!!!

  1. I would like to thank your husband for his service too! Our local IGA has many of the same safeguards and my husband has ventured out (with his mask) the moment they open to pick up things. We are lucky we can also get items delivered, so I do place one big order for the month. If everyone would exercise the same caution, maybe we could lick this thing sooner!

That tea cup tablecloth with pockets is just the cutest thing!

  3. Beautiful, Debbie!
I love the fun and happy atmosphere in this room. The table in that corner, with the lamp and tea set and other lovely things adorning it really add to that atmosphere.
I really like the way you go through all your precious things and explain each one, including where and when you got them. They are so valued by you and that's just wonderful to read about, too.
Please pass on my thanks to Joe for his service at this tricky time. We all need to learn from this experience and value those in our community who work so hard for us at all times as well!
    Cheers

  5. So nice to read that you are all well and in employment, my heart goes out to all those affected by this pandemic. There are a lot of business's here that have gone under, its heart breaking. On a lighter note it was a joy to visit and be inspired by all your decor. Stay safe.

  6. Good for Joe to be working and thankful for his Military service too! My husband is working, would've never thought he retired but now back part time doing what he did before in Information Technology with state. He works from home mostly monitoring and goes in when asked. Meetings are mostly done online. He is retired also from the Army.
My sister works and had a fellow employee testing positive about a month ago. Better now. She goes in a few days a week and works from home too. Gotta keep going and just be careful and take precautions. Glad to see and hear all is well where you are and Joey is home with you and enjoying time spent together. I always love it when my daughter comes and we do things together, wish she could stay. I told her and her husband they both could move here with us.
Love all of your beautiful arrangements and decorations. Especially the fairies in the cup. So sweet.
    Happy Sunday, Betsy

  7. Your tea table is cute! Kudos to your husband and his dedication to working at Wegman’s and kudos to Wegman’s for their loyalty to their employees and creative ways to serve the public.

  8. I had some tea cups that were similar to some I see in your pictures. Hubby has also been enjoying watching old hockey and football games. He said it's nice to watch without being nervous about the outcome, lol. Your husband's store sound well managed. I've worn glasses almost all my life, from the middle of grade school on. Right now I wish I didn't, it's hard to keep them from fogging up while wearing a mask. Stay well.

  9. The sitting room looks beautiful. I love the cute shelf with all the cute tea cups. I am sure you enjoy your sitting room. Your townhouse must be quite spacious. How many rooms on the two levels? A sitting room is like having a bonus room to decorate. Lucky you! As always it is beautifully decorated. I love visiting. Stay safe and healthy.

  10. Wow! A new pair of shoes twice a year! That's great! What a great way to keep their employee's feet in good condition! I wonder if that priest knew about Philippians 4:6 where the Bible says to make your requests known unto God. It includes thanksgiving, too, in that verse....
Glad to hear you are doing well. I hope that continues. Take Care!
