Dining Room Valentine's Tree and Vignettes, 2020

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

In my last post, I shared the buffet in the Dining Room decorated for Valentine's Day.........
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Today, I will be sharing how I decorated the rest of the Dining Room for Valentine's Day and the month of February which is American Heart Month....

But first, I want to Thank Richella, over at Imparting Grace, for featuring my post, Winter/Valentine's Vignettes in the Kitchen, from last week's Grace at Home Linky Party!!
And Thanks, Richella, for your kind words!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

Before I go any further, I want to remind you that I chose POSITIVITY as my Theme for this Year....
Just this week, I got a lesson in choosing to be Positive rather than Negative.....

By the grace of God, Joe decided to take a peak in the coat closet in our downstairs hall the other evening........
One of our neighbors was having some work done in his house and I wondering if maybe his water heater blew......

Then we started thinking that our water heater was over 7 years old and we have had to replace water heaters about every 6-7 years......

So Joe took out some of the coats to get to the trap door in the closet........
We do not have a basement so not only do we use the area under the stairs to store all the Christmas decorations for the Tree in the Living Room, but that is also where our water heater is.....
 Well, wouldn't you know it??????

Joe saw a small area of water to the right and around the back of the water heater......
We immediately called our plumber who came the following day and confirmed it was the water heater and we needed to replace it.......

Now, instead of stressing out about this, I wanted to drop down to my knees ( which I can still not do since my knee surgery) and THANK GOD that Joe caught this when he did because the 6 other times that we have replaced the water heater in the 42 years that we have owned this house, it flooded the hall way, out to the foyer and twice, it happened over night and flooded the Dining Room....

It would have been much worse this time if we did not catch it when we did because we now have the Pergo Max flooring throughout the downstairs and you can not just replace a section of it if you have to.....

Plus, I just bought new area rugs in the Summer that could have possibly been ruined.....
So I am POSITIVE that this was the best outcome possible with literally no damage done and even though it cost us money to replace the water heater, wouldn't you know it that my first Retirement Annuity check comes in a few days and that will cover the cost of the water heater and installment????

AND I will not have to worry about this for at least another 6-7 years!!!

SO, no negative thoughts about this, only POSITIVE thoughts and also GRATITUDE that I did not end up with a mess and have to replace flooring and rugs!!!!

Okay, so that was my week........

Let's get back to the Dining Room........

I stripped down the 7 foot pencil Tree that I had decorated for Christmas and redecorated it for Valentine's Day.....
I decided to change up the bow that I use as a topper for this Tree and took it apart and added another ribbon to the solid pink ribbon and made a new bow......
The ribbon I added is a pretty pink rose ribbon that I bought many years ago in Bon Ton after Christmas.....

I started to decorate the Tree with the ornaments that I have amassed over the years.....
And I also decided to hang this large pink heart on the Tree instead of on the window divider....
After the Tree was re-decorated, I tucked the glittered Baby's Breath that I used for Christmas  back into the Tree....
I am pleased with how it came out this year......
Let's take a closer look......
 In the evening.....
At the end of February, I will take this Tree down and Joe will take it back to our Storage Unit and I will replace it with a Pink Tree decorated for Easter on top of a round table in this corner....

I like to hang things on the window divider between the Dining Room and Living Room......
I made the bottom 2 plaques......
A wall clock that Joe bought for me.....
On the side of the Tree is a marble topped plant stand.....
A heart shaped candy box that I embellished set in a vintage milk glass compote bowl.......
A handmade Valentine's card and heart......

Looking toward the Kitchen......
I have said before that our Dining Room is the room that most reflects my love for the Victorian style and I have tried to decorate it as if it was a Tea Room in a Bed and Breakfast....
I collect tea cups and saucers.......
In the corner by the Dining Room......
A Home Interiors figurine and a cardinal that was gifted to me by my dear friend, Anne Marie......
On the side of the curio on a marble topped stand is my "Funeral" basket that I like to decorate for the different Seasons and Holidays.....
You can see that I have it decorated for Valentine's Day.....
On top of the curio that was my dear neighbor Elly's.......
A vintage sale with tea cups on it......
 Inside the curio.....

 Figurines, depression glass, tea pots.......
And Lenox dishes.....
 My faux window.....
A stained glass panel hangs between the Kitchen and Dining Room.....
I bought several sets of those rose colored curtains at a church flea market......
On top of a cabinet that my Dad built to match our Dining Room furniture which was Joe's maternal grandmothers.......
Vintage cherub candle holders that I bought at Salvation Army....
A vintage crystal compote bowl......
Thomas Kinkade "Pink Ladies"  ( for Breast Cancer Awareness).....
Above the doorway into the Kitchen......
More tea cups......

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I shared the Buffet in my previous post......
Another shelf with more tea cups.......
Next to the buffet is another one of my neighbor Elly's curios.....
Above the curio......
A Home Interiors shelf and Victorian Lady figurine......
On top of the curio......
A bit of Valentine's decor added......
Inside the curio......
In my last post, I mentioned that the Dining Room furniture was Joe's maternal Grandmother's......
I would have loved the dishes that she had inside of the hutch but Joe's Uncle quickly grabbed them.....
So I have several unique pieces of the same pattern of dishes that were Joe's grandmother's in this curio......
The pattern is called George and Martha Washington.....
In top of the hutch......
Valentine's decor and more Thomas Kinkade Pink Ladies........
My Paternal Grandparent's Wedding picture......
I bought the lamps for $1.00 each at a yard sale and ordered the crystals on Ebay many years ago....
The window divider between the Dining Room and the Living Room.......
I left up this wreath that I made......
I also made this......
My Collection of Guardian Angel plates.......
Joe's Aunt Margy gave us this crystal chandy as it did not fit in with her decor.....
I like to add a little something to it for the different holidays.......

I hung gold heart ornaments and Valentine's tags that I embellished from it.....
I can't keep the Dining Room table set because Joe reads the newspaper in here and we eat everyday in here but I did put a Valentine's tablecloth on the table and did a little centerpiece in the middle of the table......
I bought the tablecloth in Boscov's on sale with a coupon so it only cost a little over $7.00!!
I have a red and white tiered dish that was gifted to me filled with faux pastries in the center of the table.....
Red heart glittered plates were bought at Target many years ago on Clearance.....
In my next post, I will be sharing a Valentine's tablescape so you will see more of this table then.....
And that completes my tour of our Dining Room decorated for Valentine's Day.....
 I hoped you enjoyed it......

In future planned posts, I will be sharing as I mentioned, a Valentine's tablescape , a Winter/Valentine's Tour of our home and why I chose "Contemplate" as my Word for the month of February......

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  1. I am speechless! I didn't know it was possible to decorate that much for other holidays beyond Christmas. You are truly amazing. I think I may need to go shopping tomorrow for a little something to liven things up around here. Now that Christmas decorations are put away, well...it needs something. Good luck with the plumbing, that can be an expensive situation. We recently had to have the furnace man out. Seems we home owners always have something to deal with. Swing by for a visit.

  5. Wow, Debbie! You have really outdone yourself with your Valentine decor! That is a blessing that Joe caught the leak before it flooded. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!

  6. How pretty, Debbie!!! I love your Valentine's tree but it was the gorgeous Victoriana display on the wall that caught my attention for this week's Share Your Style #244, so I featured that instead. <3 I am sooo glad Joe found the water heater leak before it really blew! What a relief to have it taken care of... We lost a water heater in the garage and thankfully all the boxes which could have been ruined were up on small pallets at our last house (about a year after we moved in and, yes, the water heater was about 8 years old... Funny how that works! I need to check the date on our current one but I think it is pretty new from what I remember the inspector saying last year.

Gotta run as the computer is about to die from lack of power. Sharing on my Pinterest, too, of course!
    Hugs,
    Barb :)
