Dining Room Valentine's Buffet, 2020

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing  how I decorated the buffet in the Dining Room for Valentine's Day.....
As I have mentioned many times before, the Dining Room is the most Victorian looking room in our 1970's built townhouse......
I wanted it to look as if it was a Tea Room in a Victorian Bed and Breakfast.....

The furniture in the Dining Room was inherited from Joe's Maternal Grandmother........

When she passed away, a note was found, written in her hand writing, stating that Joe was to pick anything that he wanted from her house, even before her own children......

Joe and his family lived with his grandmother until he was in 8th grade and she spoke nothing but Polish......
My parent's home had an eat in Kitchen and since we were getting married the following year, I chose the Dining Room furniture as I had always wanted to live in a house with a Dining Room......

After I chose the Dining Room furniture, we were then told that the note, ironically, was found in the drawer of the Dining Room hutch!!
The 1940's set was originally finished in what was called "Blonde" and as a wedding gift, Joe's uncle, who was a professional painter, refinished the Dining Room set for us in "Fruitwood".........

When we were house shopping before we were married, I had to find a house with a Dining Room and luckily, I did!!!

In the corner by the buffet......
On a shelf, a Thomas Kinkade figurine of 2 Ladies enjoying a cup of Tea together....
At my request, Joe's uncle replaced the panels in the doors of the buffet and hutch with mirrors....
The shelves and pictures above the buffet are all from Home Interiors......
I strung a set of heart lights through out the display on the buffet......
The lamp was bought at a church flea market.......
Faux cupcakes and a cup cake dish......
A ceramic heart basket filled with candy and a faux cupcake.....
A compote bowl filled with Sweetheart candies and some lollipops.......
Pink Hearts draped over the compote......
 Heart boxes that I embellished......
In the center......
On a shelf above the buffet, I felt it was only fitting to display a picture of Joe's Maternal Grandparents.......
Interesting that Joe's Grandmother's name was Rose and I have a Collection of Moss Rose dishes in the Dining Room hutch............
On a gold mirror cake pedestal.......
Cherubs, a fax cup cake and cookie and a Victorian styled Calling Card.....
Another cherub.....
A vintage Valentine's card that was my neighbor Elly's......
I found it in a box of cards from the 50's and 60's......
A pair of lace gloves with a vintage pin......
A metal heart box.......
A bowl filled with Valentine candy corn, a faux cup cake and lollipops....
I placed a Valentine's runner, that was made by a friend of mine and fellow crafter from our church, over the white lace scarf
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated the buffet for Valentine's......
In my next post, I will be sharing the rest of the Dining Room
Decorated for Valentine's Day and the month of February.......

Including this Valentine's Tree.......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  1. Debbie, how wonderful to have family heirlooms. It speaks well of Joe that his grandmother put him at the top of her list to choose from her things. The buffet is a gorgeous piece and the perfect spot for your elaborate and ever-changing displays throughout the year. Happy February!

  2. My goodness what a feast for the eyes. So much to see and admire, I had to scroll up and down a few times to really take it all in.

  7. I loved reading your story of the dining room furniture! So few of us have "inherited furniture". I have my late mother-in-laws bedroom set and my grandparents' dining room table--the most uncomfortable 90 degree chairs I ever sat on!!! I love how you have all your knick-knacks arranged; it truly looks Victorian.

    1. Kathy,
Thanks again for stopping by!!! Most of my furniture is "Inherited" from someone , mostly Joe's family and not mine. I do have my Mother's bedroom set which was bought for her when she was 16 years old by her parents...Other than that, she hated old things and liked everything new so she threw a lot of things out that I now would have died to have....Luckily, I will someday be passing her bedroom furniture on to my great niece, Caitlin, who loves it. Caitlin is my Mother's Great Grand daughter...
      Hugs,
      Debbie
