Winter Vignettes in the Den, 2020

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Last year, because of my knee, I was not able to do most of my Seasonal and Holiday decorating after Christmas like I usually do......

Now that I had my knee replacement surgery and my recovery is complete and I am retired, I am back to decorating with reckless abandon!!!!

LOL!!

I get bored very quickly and decorating for Holidays and Seasons changes the way the house looks without doing any major remodeling and saves me a bunch of money too!!!

In my last post, I shared my Winter Snow and Ice Tree in the Den!!
Please click HERE to see this post if you missed it.....

The Den is the only room that I decorate completely just for Winter....

This year, I challenged myself to use as much Christmas decor as I could for my Winter decorations in this room..

I truly enjoy sitting out in the Den in the Winter........

This is the room where I sit and watch TV while on my lap top when Joe is either watching a Pittsburgh Pens Hockey game on TV or at the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins game which we have Season Tickets for........

This is the corner directly to the left when you enter the Den from the Kitchen.....
And this is where I like to sit.....
This area was originally part of a storage room......

When my Dad turned the patio into the Den, I had him remove the wall that separated the patio from the storage room, making the room much larger......

The door with the mirrors on it was the original door to the storage room and became the door to the remainder of what is still left of that storage room ....
I also had my Dad build me a pantry closet as I have very little cabinet space in the Kitchen and the door with the calendar hanging on it is where the pantry closet is.......

I bought this mail box last year in Michael's and decided to leave it up for the Winter......
I removed the burgundy poinsettias and replaced them with some greenery and snowflakes.....
I bought this wreath about 5 years ago on Clearance long before flocked trees, wreaths and garlands became the Big thing as part of the Farmhouse craze.....
I changed it up a bit this year and added more pine cones, snowflakes and a bird's nest......
I made the bow out of white deco mesh ribbon......
I also placed a white lantern ornament in the center.....
As I mentioned before, this is my corner......
When I had to stop working last February because I could hardly walk, I spent a lot of my time here.....

I could not wait to decorate this room for Winter.....
And as I mentioned, I tried to leave out a lot of things that I used for Christmas.....
I borrowed the evergreen swag from the Powder Room and hung it above the center picture.....
I bought this Winter snow bird in Sears a few years back.....
I added pine cones and a burlap bag ornament with a snowflake on it...
Another owl on this shelf.....
And 2 music sheet trees that I made....
I believe I bought this owl in Target....
I love this cute vignette......
I left out the "Believe" sign from Christmas.....
I took 2 Thomas Kinkade Christmas cards with Winter scenes and framed them.....
On the table in the corner.....
I simply removed my Woodland Santa, added a few snowflakes to the greenery in the burgundy tin pocket and moved a few bottle brush trees over here.....
I left the Snow man under glass....
Above my chair.....
You may remember that I bought these plates in Gabes.....
I loved the Winter scene on them......
I placed them up on this shelf with a flocked tree that I have had for many years and used some Christmas burgundy florals in front of the plates....
I added a bottle brush tree and some vintage deer after I took away the Santa's that were on this shelf......
The back door....
I hung a snowflake garland and 2 bird houses from the curtain rod......
And hung a sweet snow man on the door.....
Next to the door is my Winter Snow and Ice Tree.....
I left this shelf the same as it was for Christmas with the Thomas Kinkade angel on it but just added a snow ball.....
I do love sitting out here in the evening with this Tree lit .....
Next to the Tree on an ottoman......
Are 2 of my dear neighbor Elly's snow man collection.....
One is sitting on a sled and the other is laying on one.....
I hung large snowflakes ornaments from the curtain rods on the windows...
I replaced the Charles Dicken's Scrooge figures that were on these shelves for Christmas with a few other things that I had in the Den for Christmas but felt I could use for Winter decor.....
A Lenox snowflake candleholder, vintage looking angels and a white tree.......
I added a few snowballs and pine cones to each shelf.....

Over on top of the computer armoire.....
I moved my Thomas Kinkade houses here.....
Left out the angels from Christmas and added snowmen and pine cones....
And also left out my Ice church....
I like the way this looks so much that I might just set it up this way for Christmas next year....
When I was cleaning out my neighbor Elly's house for her sons, I found this hanging Tree....
I wasn't sure what to do with it until now......
Last Christmas( 2018), I bought these owl ornaments in Dollar Tree.....
I decided to hang them on the tree along with pine cones and snow flake ornaments and a snow man....

In the corner is Nelson Crest.....
But I will be sharing how she is decked out for Winter in my next post.....

This is between the computer armoire and Nelson Crest, my Victorian Doll House.....
After Christmas, I removed the Santa head that was inside the bird cage and replaced it with this neutral colored bottle brush tree, topped it off with a snow man's hat and added a cute Winter bird to the greenery surrounding the bottom.....
I placed more Winter birds , snow balls and pine cones on the shelves....
And also this bird house that I bought at Gabes for $2.00 on clearance....
Above the other chair, I also left out this Believe sign and sat another one of Elly's snow man collection on top of the chair......
And this is where I will leave off for today.....

In my next post, I mentioned that I will be sharing Nelson Crest and I will also be sharing my china cupboard all decked out for Winter.....
This year, I am choosing a Word for each Month and I chose a Theme for the year instead of a Word for the Year, which is POSITIVITY........
My Word for January is PRODUCTIVITY......
I think I chose that word because of most of 2019, I did not feel very productive because of mobility issues, my surgery and then my recovery from the surgery.....

So I wanted to start this New Year off on a productive note.....

I think I have done pretty good so far because I have managed to......

Pack up Christmas, clean and re-decorate the Den for Winter....

Take away Christmas items from the front of the house and replace them with Winter items and snow man things for Winter.....

I also took away everything Christmas related in the Powder Room, cleaned it and then re-decorated it with Valentine's Snow Buddies and other Valentine's things....

Packed away, cleaned and re-decorated the Kitchen for Winter with a bit of Valentine's decor.....

Made a curtain and 2 valances for the Kitchen out of a tablecloth.....

Cleaned out some of the Kitchen cabinets and donated 2 boxes to Salvation Army....

And I have finished packing away all of the Christmas from the Living Room.....

This week, I will clean the Living Room, pack up all of Christmas from the Dining Room and re-decorate both rooms for Valentine's, including the 7 foot Trees in both rooms.....

I leave up my Winter and Valentine's decor for almost all of February because we will have Winter in in NEPA well into March and we have even seen snow in April.....

And February is American Heart Month so Valentine's decor is also left up for most of the month.....

With Easter occurring on April 12th this year, I will not need to hurry and take it all down so I can re-decorate for Easter.....

So I think I have been fairly PRODUCTIVE!!

I have a lot that I want to share with all of you.....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  3. Wow, Debbie, that still is a lot of stuff you have out. Lots of sparkle and snow. Now that we finally have snow here, I'm good with winter. Nothing is worse then staring at gray, black, brown desolation of a snowless winter. I really love the post box. You could leave that up all year as traditional post boxes in Scandinavia are red, I think in the UK also. Anyway, enjoy winter, I need some hot cocoa now after perusing your gorgeous post! Sandi
