More Fall Buys and a Labor Day Celebration!!

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!
I am so thrilled that it is September!!!

This Summer has been very hot and humid and I have spent most of it in the house with the shades closed to keep the Sun out and the air conditioners blaring!!

Because of the heat and sun sensitivity that I suffer from auto immune disease and side effects of medications, Summer is the worst Season of the year for me.....

I have always loved Fall since I was a kid.....

And since I have not been able to decorate for any Holidays or Seasons since February because of my knee, I am so excited to decorate for Fall and Halloween.....

But first, I want to Thank Charlene, over at A Pinch of Joy, for featuring my post, Suddenly You're Retired, Now What? from last week's Busy Monday Link Party!!
Thanks so much, Charlene!!

And I also want to Thank Kristie, over at Love My Little Cottage, for featuring the same post from last week's Little Cottage Link Party!!
 Thanks again, Kristie!!

And I want to Thank Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for featuring my post, A Summer Day in Victorian Times, from last week's Over the Moon Link Party!!!
Thanks so much, Bev!!

I also want to Thank Michelle, over at Our Crafty Mom, for featuring my post, Fall Haul, from last week's Merry Monday Link Party!!
 Thanks again, Michelle!

Please stop by and link up to these great parties!!

If you noticed, the photo above says Farewell Merry Monday because the hosts of Merry Monday are  ending their linky party...

This past Monday was the last one..

It is sad to see another linky party fall by the wayside......

In my last post, I shared a few Patriotic things that I bought on Clearance in Gabes for $1.00 each!!
Click HERE to read the post if you missed it....

The same day I bought all those things in Gabes, I also hit Dollar Tree again......
Now I know that I recently posted about my Fall Haul at Dollar Tree and Big Lot's.....
But after reading a post over at Penny's Vintage Home,  about how she decided to put up a Fall Tree in her Kitchen  because it would be easier to decorate it if it was already in the Kitchen for Christmas.....
I thought to myself, what a great idea!!

Even though Penny's style is different than mine, I just love how her Fall Tree looks in her charming Kitchen, don't you?????

So I decided that I will be setting up the Tree in the Kitchen that I use for Christmas and will be decorating it as a Fall Kitchen Tree this year!!!

But I do not want to spend a lot of money on decorating it......

I had already bought 2 packages of pumpkins with the thought of decorating them and using them for ornaments for my Autumn Tree in the Living Room.........
So I went back to Dollar Tree to buy more wood cut out ornaments......

And I ended up finding Fall Goodies that were not there the first time I went!!
Yep!!!!

Another Fall Haul!!!!

I love this red truck Fall sign.......
I might see if I can use it on a wreath.....

I love these 2 wood block signs....
I will be using these in the Kitchen, I think....
I picked out a few Fall flower and leaf bunches that I plan on tucking into my Kitchen Fall Tree....
And I found these metal corn stalks....
They also come in orange...

I will probably be using these out on the front porch....

And of course, I did buy what I went there for in the first place....

Another package of pumpkin wood ornaments....
And I also bought a package each of Owl and Leave ornaments......
Since I usually decorate the Kitchen in mostly a Fall theme with a touch of Halloween, I really like this Tree that I found on Pinterest.....
Source: Pinterest

I really like those Halloween Gingerbread Men ornaments.....

I just may have some of those in my stash in my Craft Room.....

I have to check on that....

And I actually have similar plaid ribbon which I used to make a Fall Wreath for the Kitchen last year....
This week, I will start to decorate the Kitchen and Powder Room for Fall now that Labor Day is over.....

Speaking of Labor Day.....

We celebrated the Holiday on Sunday because ironically, on the first Labor Day since I am retired that I did not have to work either the Eve or the Day of a Holiday, Joe had to work on Monday from 11am to 4pm...

He didn't mind as he chose to work so others could have the Holiday off....

For our Holiday celebration on Sunday, we had the usual cheeseburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad that I get from Wegman's, corn on the cob from an Amish farmer, watermelon and ice cream, I decided to make up some Turkey Kielbasi that Joe bought at a local Schiel's ShurSave Food Market.....
And I also made a ring of Cheese Kielbasi, which was really quite tasty!!
I made potato salad.......
And zucchini bread......
Amazing how I do not mind cooking and baking as much as I did when I was still working!!

We had a lovely family get together with our sons, daughter-in-law and our nieces!!

My family gets annoyed with me when I take pictures and I can not blame them because I am not one who likes my picture taken either but Joe and I did manage to take a few candid photos!!!

So I apologize for the poor quality of the photos....

Sitting at the table on the left is our niece Renae, Joe who is standing, our Great Niece Caitlin, our DIL Danielle, next to her is our son Jim, who you can't see because our son Joey's head is blocking him.....

Danielle, Jim and Carly were playing a "Truth or Dare" game and this is a photo of Jim dancing!!

Our Great Nice Cortney was unable to come as she had to work.....

We had a wonderful day spent with our family.....

Again, I want to Thank everyone for their condolences on the passing of my nephew John.....

You can see that his family is doing just what he wanted them to do......

Living life to the fullest.....

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. You found some really awesome fall decorations and I too have from DT the red truck and pumpkins. I love that sign and I have it hanging on my china cabinet. The DT store that was near me closed down! Boo I am so upset and I will now have to drive a half hour to the nearest one. I will have to really stock up on items whenever I go now. Oh well. It looks like you had fun entertaining for Labor Day and I love your menu. It must be a lot easier for you entertaining now that you are retired. I can't wait to see your fall tree in the kitchen. Enjoy the week.

  2. Dollar Tree is the best and you are maxing out the one in your area for sure!
It seems I can't go in there without spending a small fortune -- a dollar a piece!

Your celebration looks like fun. Yes, retirement does that to you, and isn't it the best?

  3. I can't wait to see your Fall Tree. You found some great things to decorate with. I want one of those cute red truck plaques. I am just getting started on my fall decorating. I am with you I love the Fall. BTW what a cute family you have. You can tell through the pictures you shared you all like getting together. What fun, your son dancing. You are blessed Deb. Hugs to you my friend.

  4. I have given up on trying to play catch up with everyone....lol! First, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your nephew...hugs.... Second, thank you so much for giving me a shout out about my fall tree in the kitchen, can't wait to see yours! I'm staying busy as usual, the only really important thing going on is that my grand daughter is pregnant with her first baby. We had the reveal party last week and it's a girl....I'm beyond excited! xoxo

  6. Happy belated Labour Day Debbie. So glad you didn't have to work. What a great Fall haul(s). You always find such interesting things and I can't wait to see how your tree turns out. If there's one thing I've learnt over the years visiting you, it's that no-one knows how to do a Christmas tree like you. You can teach some of the big stores a thing or two <3

  7. I love taking photos. I tell everyone to smile because if one of us isn't here tomorrow it would be sad that we couldn't find any photos to share. Life is short, laugh and have fun but take plenty of photos. You do the nicest displays. I sure like the pinterest one you shared here. I have often thought, why can't we live nearby? That way you could help me create those beautiful wreaths you seem to make so beautifully. Have a great weekend and that food display, Y U M !

  9. Love the idea of the fall tree. Did you set up a tree in the kitchen? I took my trees out of the attic this weekend.
    Happy Fall,
