Potion Bottles for Halloween, Part 1!!!

Welcome!!!!

It is the end of August and Fall is fast approaching!!

We have been having wonderfully cool weather here in NEPA!!!
And I am loving it!

I am so ready for Fall!!

In my last post, I shared how I embellished some Fall ornaments that I plan on using on my Living Room Autumn Tree.......
Click HERE if you missed that post......

I decorate the Living Room for Fall but I decorate the Dining Room for Halloween!!!!!

This year, I will be passing on the Halloween village, that I have had since my sons were children, to my great nieces Cortney, Caitlin and Carly.......
I will still be setting up my Halloween Tree in the Dining Room but not on the Buffet......

I do have plans for how I am going to be decorating the buffet for Halloween and I have been busy crafting some items that I plan on using for my new Halloween display!!!!
I will be going with an Edgar Allen Poe Raven theme...........

I have done something along these lines in the past in the Dining Room and also chose it as the theme for my table at our church's Harvest Tea a few years back......
Click HERE to see that post from 2013.........

And now I have the whole buffet to set up a new display on!!!
I have been showing some of the things that I have been crafting.......
I will be sharing all of these items in future posts.......
And I still am working on a few more things......
All of these will tie in nicely with this candelabra that I bought in Gabes for $2.99!!!
And this typewriter that I bought in Marshall's for $14.99!!!
Have you noticed in Micheal's and in other stores, all the glitzy potion bottles?????

In this post and in the next one, I will be sharing the Halloween Potion Bottles that I made.........
I started out with a whole bunch of glass bottles that I have been picking up here and there.....

I then painted them black and white........
I used spray paint to make it real easy!!
I had printed out these labels last year when I decided to do this project......
I do not remember where I found them online so if you recognize these, please let me know the site so I can add a link and credit the site!!

UPdate: Thanks to Angie, over at Ambient Wares, I want to give credit to Amanda, over at Domestically Creative, for featuring these labels on a post that she did in 2015.

Click HERE to see that post and get the template for the labels!! Thanks, Amanda for posting this!!

And Thanks Angie for tracking down the post so I could give Amanda the credit!!!

I decoupaged the labels onto the bottles........
Today, I will be showing you the white bottles and a few smaller clear bottles........
You can see that I enjoyed "dabbling" a bit with these bottles......
I spray painted the lids black for contrast.........
I found that I had a few unfinished wooden knobs in our stash of household items.......
I spray painted those white to add even more contrast and glued them on to the lids........

The black rhinestone like trim that I added was bought at Michael's about a year ago ......
And I had the silver trim in my stash......
This black spider trim is something I just bought at Dollar Tree this season......
I also glued on a large clear crystal.......
I bought a pack of 20 of those crystals at Michael's last week on Clearance for $1.79.......
For these bottles, I used a pair of vintage earrings for the Bling!!!!
And the last one has a cork top.......
I also came across these clear bottles that I thought would be perfect to use the smaller labels on........
I plan on using these in other displays around the Dining Room.......
I did have fun "dabbling" with these bottles!!!
In my next post, I will be sharing the black potion bottles.........
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

  12. Ahh, those are the cutest bottles! I love that one with the leaning twisted neck! What in the world did that have in it? Interesting...and it's perfect for a potion bottle. Love all the embellishments! Thanks for sharing at Sweet Inspiration!

  13. Thanx for all the great ideas. I've made some for my daughter who loves to decorate for Halloween. Last year I made some potion bottles for my dollhouse and used a wisp of Halloween spider web to look like steam coming out of some of the bottles and put a bit of glass stain or glow in the dark paint in them. And the GREEN glow in the dark spider web for some--eerie! For the dollhouse, I've got the tiny bottles with corks and love collecting the shedded cat toenails for a bottle to be titled "dragon claws." My son "got me good" one year. I opened the fridge to get the low fat milk for my morning coffee and there's the severed rubber hand holding onto the milk jug! Gave me a few more gray hairs!
