The only room that I decorate for St. Patrick's Day is our Den as I decorate the rest of the downstairs for Easter since these 2 holidays are so close together some years......

Today, I am going to share my china cupboard in the Den, decorated for St. Patrick's Day......
There are Celebrations and Parades almost all month with the first parade on Saturday, March 4 in Pittston....
There is also the parade in Scranton which is one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the Country......
Hilary Clinton will be the Speaker for the annual Irish Women's St. Patrick's Day Dinner in Scranton and Vice President Joe Biden has also been the Speaker in the past for the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick's Dinner.
They both have family ties to the Scranton area......
I am going to split this into 2 posts with this one sharing the top half of the display.......
I like to use them over the Christmas Holidays because they remind me of a
Charles Dicken's village in A Christmas Carol ( Scrooge) but they also remind me
of a village in Ireland.......
And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

ReplyDeleteDid you know our area here in Michigan was also settled by the Irish and where we live is smack in the middle of what is know as " The Irish Hills" I am actually doing a week end theme in August at camp called " An Irish Hills Homecoming". We will be celebrating our Irish Heritage. This is a new theme for me and I am hoping our campers enjoy learning a bit about our Irish Hills area.

I totally love the lace clover wreath. Those dishes are just beautiful and perfect for your St. Patty's decorations. My hubby had to go to ireland and he bought me some lace earrings, wish I could have went there too
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you are ready with the green! It's fun to see your collection of Old Curiosity Shop. I think I've mentioned before, this was one of the patterns of dishes my mom had when I was a child. I grew up eating many a meal off of this pattern. '-)

ReplyDeleteI have the same set of dishes. They belonged to my grandmother who passed away at the age of 99 almost 6 years ago. I have so many wonderful memories of Sunday pot roast dinners & Thanksgiving turkey eaten from these plates. My grandmother got these dishes by redeeming S & H green stamps, most likely during the late 50's or early 60's. My favorite piece is the serving platter. My mom displays 1 in her china cabinet & I do the same. These are much loved & I use them as everyday dinner dishes several times a week, alternating with a set of Bennington Pottery.

Debbie, what a fabulous display of green! I have a few of those dishes, but usually don't pull them out until summer for our Pioneer Day holiday. They are perfect for St. Patty's too. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
