Today, I will be sharing my Late Summer "Under the Sea" Tree and the "Beach" underneath it....

In my last post, which is on my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas, I shared A Christmas in July project for Rudolph Day which was a long time in the making.....

Click HERE to read how I made a project that my neighbor Elly had bought to make herself some 20+ years ago....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

This week's Reheat and Eat Dinners from the WB Scranton Pens Food Service.....

Stuffed Peppers w/ Mashed Sweet Potato & Roasted Vegetables for Joe

Grilled Garlic & Herb Chicken w/ Lemon Pepper Orzo & Roasted Seasonal Vegetables Joey

And Shrimp Scampi Pasta w/ Roasted Vegetables for me!!

We have had all of these before and they are all quite good....

I actually left the house the other day and I did not have a Hair Cut appointment!!!

Hell's Bells!!

After working all last week changing over the Living Room from the Patriotic Decorations to my "Under the Sea" decor, I decided that this week, I will be changing over the Kitchen from my French Country Victorian Hen and Rooster theme to a late Summer, Apples and Sunflower theme...

I did a bit of this theme decorating last year and I have been stashing away other items that I came upon during the year for it...

I was perusing Dollar Tree's web site as their Fall decorations are now being stocked and there were a few things that appealed to me...

So after taking the Grand Pups for their morning walk, we went to 2 of the Dollar Tree stores that are only 5 minutes down the road...

But first, let me share a few pics of the Grand Pups......

I get some exercise in the mornings, in addition to at least 4 miles on my stationary bike, 50 chair sit ups ( hernia repair) and arm exercises with weights to strengthen my back, walking up that huge hill.....

This is the dog park that the Apartment Complex recently put in for it's tenants....

Where Faye leads, Joe follows....

Azumi and I were not crawling up that slope....

Back in their townhouse, they leave this TV on with cartoons for the pups while they are at work....

They have 2 TV's in their Living Room.....

This one is a 60 inch one....

One to play their Games on while watching TV on the other one!!

LOL!!

They also have one in the Dining Room, which the pups use as a sitting room to look out the sliding glass doors during the day, and one in their bedroom, of course!

Faye

Azumi loves to lick....most of the time just in thin air!!!

And she loves her toys....

All 3 tubs of them!!!

They will be coming to stay with us again next week for several days as Jim and Danielle are going back to NYC to see another K Pop concert....

They are excited as they have VIP tickets and will get to attend a Meet and Greet....

I will be wearing a mask when they come to pick the pups up!!

I will be taking precautions this time even though the nurse from the Department of Health said they we all could have contracted COVID from anywhere from 2-14 days prior to S&S....

I still think Joe passed it on to all of us as he is out in the public the most and was not masking...

However, he sure is now!!

It was a wake up call for him, needless to say!!

Okay, where I was going with this is I want to show you my Dollar Tree Haul....

Yep!

I hit pay dirt and got just about everything I wanted and a bit more....

More on this in a future post....

I have been decorating my Seasonal Tree in the Living Room that stays up year round in a Late Summer "Under the Sea" theme since 2017....

I missed 2019 because of my Knee Replacement surgery...

The idea to do this theme came from these shells....

My neighbor Elly lived in Miami during the Winters and she had painstakingly collected, cleaned and separated by size, all of these shells from the beaches in Miami....

When she passed away, her sons were going to toss them in our garbage dumpster and I nearly had a stroke!!

Shells like this are sold in Craft stores and so many other places and are not cheap...

Now I did give a good deal of them away to friend's kids and kids in the neighborhood to play with and craft but I still had quite a bit so I started looking up shell ornaments on Pinterest and decided to make some ornaments using them....

If you would like to read more about the ornaments I made......

I took it a step further and ordered wood cut outs in the from of sea horses and anchors from Amazon and made more ornaments.....

I also decided to make some ornaments from Sand Dollars

And star fish....

Click HERE to see how I made all of these ornaments.....

After seeing more pictures on Pinterest, I decided to use up the clear craft ornaments I had with shells...

And wrap some aqua ornaments I bought on clearance with netting....

Click HERE to see how I made these....

I used these on the first Tree that I did in this theme, which was a 6 foot white one, for the first 2 years....

When I decided to leave up the 7 foot evergreen slim Tree that I used at Christmas year round, I decided to keep my eyes open for more ornaments...

Several years ago, I was able to buy a few more ornaments for this Tree at Boscov's on Clearance after Christmas....

I loved these pretty aqua shell ornaments.......

I also bought these cute fish ornaments......

And a few more......

I loved this bottle with shells in it.....

Also before Christmas one year, I bought this ornament in Michael's for 50% off and I had a coupon for an additional 20% off....

Another year, I bought these in Walmart for $1.00 each!!

And I bought these in Bon Ton for $1.80 each!!!

So those are all the ornaments that I have used in decorating this Tree.....

I made garland out of aqua deco mesh that I wrap around the Tree....

To top the Tree off, I found these branches 5 years ago in Dollar Tree that looked like sea weed to me so they are tucked into the top of the Tree....

I made a bow with aqua and white deco mesh ribbon and streamers too.....

Next I wrapped some rope that came right out of our storage room around the Tree like garland....

I then draped netting that I bought in Michael's on top of the aqua deco mesh garland and hung all the ornaments.....

I will let the picture do the talking...

So there you have my "Under the Sea" Tree for this year....

A few pictures in the Evening....

Back on June 21st, I was invited by Katherine, over at Katherine's Corner, to join her and other bloggers, participating in her By The Sea Decor on a Tray Blog Tour!

Just a few months prior to that my dear friend Anne Marie had gifted me some beautiful things the last time she visited that would fit in perfectly with the theme of this Blog Tour.....

And oddly enough, Joe had picked up these things at Dollar Tree!!!!

I knew I wanted to use all of them for my Tray ....

Once again, I decided to do my Tray as part of a tablescape....

Click HERE if you missed that post....

I was able to use the beautiful things that Anne Marie gifted me and Joe bought in Dollar Tree on the "Beach" under the Tree this year.....

I decided that I would use the plastic tablecloth that Joe bought at Dollar Tree as a tree skirt this year.....

I also embellished a few of the new items with shells and the scatter star fish gifted to me buy my friend Anne Marie....

The sign from Dollar Tree....

And the sea horse from Anne Marie.....

I did change it up a bit from last year.....

This was last year's "Beach"

And this is this year's "Beach" under the Tree....

In the left corner.....

I tucked some aqua and white flowers into the boxwood orb in the urn.....

You may remember that I made the wood pilings last year....

I started with a Pringles can, a container from Parmesan Cheese and a container from Herb Ox Chicken Broth Cubes.....

Click HERE if you want to see that post on how I made it......

I also dabbled a bit with the large shell.....

I placed these battery operated candles that I added more shells to around the "Beach"....

Have to have a Mermaid on the "Beach"....

And a Sea Horse....

A vintage Christmas Tree platform fence was placed on the "Beach" for a back drop.....

Coral that came from Miami Beach and am aqua coral from my friend Anne Marie....

Star fish, driftwood, stones and shells strewn on the "Beach" that washed up from the tide....

Even a bottle filled with shells and sand....

Over on the right side.....

The Lighthouse that I made out of clay pots......

I used a mailbox cover that Joe bought one year as a back drop.....

Another large shell I "dabbled" with....

And another bottle I filled with sand and shells....

And of Course, the Lighthouse is to guide ships safely into port.....

This Sail Boat that Joe bought at Big Lot's was a royal blue until I painted it aqua......

The Mermaid sign from Dollar Tree....

And there you have it.....

I hoped you enjoyed seeing this year's "Under the Sea" and the "Beach" underneath it!!!

This is one of my favorite theme's to do in the Living Room as I love the way the aqua looks in the Living Room with all the other things that I have in an aqua color

And it brings back so many cherished memories of vacationing every year down at the Jersey shore both as a child and then as an adult.....

In my next post, I will be sharing how I decorated the rest of the Living Room for late Summer....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on Sunday!!

  2. Your ornaments are wonderful - so creative and fun. And so is your decorating! It is like a visit to the sea and so summery. What fun! Those look like some interesting buys from Dollar Tree. Our store is very tiny and aisles are packed with unopened packages. Sometimes I get lucky and can stop at one in another town. THREE winning dinners at Reheat and Eat!!!
