And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

These are our meals this week from the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins Food Service....

Joey and I both got the Grilled Pesto Chicken Breast w/ Gnocchi & Roasted Seasonal Vegetables:
Marinated & Grilled Chicken topped w/ Basil Dressing served w/ Potato Gnocchi & Roasted Vegetables Assorted Rolls

Joe wanted to try the Oven Roasted Prime Rib w/ Baked Potato & Grilled Vegetables:
Herb Roasted Prime Rib w/ Baked Potato & Grilled Vegetables Assorted Rolls

I will have to cook this a bit more because there is no way Joe is eating this unless it is WELL DONE....

And we also got the Jerk Chicken Breast with rice....

Joey will eat the chicken and I will most likely have the Rice .....

On Monday, we had some snow squalls and snow showers roll through our area with a low of around 14 degrees and a high for around 25 degrees....

Unfortunately, these conditions led to a 50+ vehicle pile up on Interstate 81 about 40 miles south of us....

You may have seen the horrific pictures on National News or Inside Edition...

This is a link to a video posted by a guy who was one of the victims in this awful event as he stood on the side of the road seeing trucks and cars slam into each other with some exploding and people on the side of the road almost getting hit and running up the embankment....

The sound of the explosions and cars crashing into each other is horrifying and I do not blame this guy for using a few four letter words....

It must have been surreal....

I will warn you that it is graphic and upsetting but if you live in the snow states, it may be something you want to watch and be aware of what could happen in the Winter......

Click HERE to see the video......

3 dead and over 2 dozen people hospitalized.....so far....

I was so glad when Joey got home as he travels Interstate 81 to where he works in Scranton because the snow showers and squalls continued into the evening hours on Monday throughout NEPA....

I thought I would share this bit of advice with you as to what to do if you are traveling and hit a snow squall.....

I, personally, do not know if I would stay in my car but if I got out, I would get as far away from the road as I could until conditions and visibility improved.....

I have to give a HUGE Shout Out to all the EMS personnel who saved people by pulling them out of their cars through the wind shields, Fire Fighters who worked for 6 hours trying to put out the burning wreckage, State Police including those that initially responded and ended up being part of the Pile Up , Red Cross, Tow Truck Drivers and the community around the area that set up shelters for the walking wounded and those who amazingly were unhurt...

This was a catastrophic event and one that I am sure we will be hearing about for a long time here in my area....

My hearts go out to those injured and those who lost family members.....

They finally reopened the Interstate today , Wednesday, after working day and night to clean it up.....

UPDATE:  6 Deaths and 80 vehicles involved!!!!

On a brighter note, this is the first Sunset that I was able to photograph from our front porch this Season.....

The sun finally made it around to the front of our townhouse and we are getting some sun on the front porch now....

These were a bunch of birds that decided to take a rest in the Tree across our Court last evening....

There are buds on some of the trees but we are predicted to have below average temps. for the next week or two....

I finally changed over the Powder Room from Winter back to my Lady's Boudior Powder Room.....

I also changed over Nelson Crest from Winter to Bunny Land....

I will be doing posts on the Powder Room and Nelson Crest in the future......

And now on to the Kitchen.....

The whole concept of decorating for Easter in the Kitchen using carrots started 4 years ago when Kris, over at  JunkChic Cottage, gifted me a bunch of carrots after I mentioned how much I liked the ones she shared in a post.....

Thanks once again, Kris!!

The next year, in 2019, I was awaiting my knee replacement surgery and was not able to decorate for Easter that year....

In 2020, I could not wait to decorate the Kitchen adding carrots and orange to my red and yellow Easter color theme for that room!!

But the Pandemic had shut everything down so I decided to look through my vast stash of stuff and found these.....

I bought these in a discount store that sells hardware and other building supplies.....

I was thinking Tussie Mussies when I bought them but now, I saw carrots!!!

This is what I came up with....

That was the first year that I decided to keep up the Tree in the Kitchen that I decorated for Christmas and Winter and add these hand made carrot ornaments to it!!.....

As I already mentioned that today I am sharing the Tree and Hutch in the Kitchen....

I call this my focal wall and what I really like to decorate for the different Holidays and Seasons because after all, I hate to cook and would much rather decorate in the Kitchen than cook in the Kitchen!!!!!

My Kitchen is decorated in what I call a Country, Victorian, Vintage Style.......

Many of my "normal" decor items are now back out after the Christmas and Winter Holidays....

One of the shelves and brackets that my Dad made for me out of scrap wood over 40+ years ago.....

My neighbor Elly's wall phone that would actually work if I still had that hooked up for a land line...

A chalkboard that a former co worker gave to me....

A bunny , an Easter Basket made from a peat pot and an egg box that I embellished....

I hung a lid to a vintage enamelware pan on the wall and use it as a magnetic board.....

My Mother bought, over 35 years ago, the cross for me from one of her co workers who made and sold crafts.....

On the side of the Hutch, for Easter, I taped a picture from an old Cynthia Hart calendar for Easter over the current calendar....

This year, I decided to use my hand made carrots else where in the Kitchen as I bought a carrot garland for the Tree last year.....
Also this year, using an Amazon gift card that I received for my Birthday, I bought wooden Chick cut outs....

I painted them and added a few of them to my Tree....

After all, it is not easy trying to find red, yellow and orange Easter Tree ornaments!!

I tucked a forsythia bush, some pussy willows and a carrot bunch into the top of the Tree....

I also topped the Tree with a bow made from black and white buffalo checked ribbon with a red stitching on the edges.....

All the other ornaments on this Tree were taken from what I already had and used on my other Easter Trees....

I had a set of 3 small yellow Easter plates on a rack that you hung on a wall that I decided to use as ornaments....

I tucked cotton ball picks into the Tree to add a bit of dimension.....

Plus they remind me of cute bunny tails!!

I am happy with how it turned out this year...

In the evening....

Many years ago, I created the Hutch from an old shelf unit from a bedroom set that I bought at a church flea market for $5 and a desk that I bought at a yard sale for $10.....

I then painted them red and white and added new knobs to the drawers....

Most of my "normal" nonseasonal decorative items are now back on the shelves of this Hutch....

On top of the Hutch....

I bought the wire apple basket and hen basket a very long time ago at a yard sale for a buck a piece!!!!

I bought this cute Easter Bunny at Dollar Tree a few years ago and added a few carrots to it....

I made another bow from the black and white ribbon....

The top shelf.....

Some vintage and vintage style Kitchen items.....

The bottom shelf....

I like to decorate the desk area of the Hutch for the different Holidays and Seasons....

Again, I went with a carrot theme......

On the left side....

I bought this bunny in J.C. Penney's a few years ago....

The moss covered bunnies were bought at Micheal's.....

I bought these two carrot fairy garden houses in Dollar Tree a few years ago.....

I framed this picture of carrots in a black frame that was in my stash....

Some carrots and an Easter egg in a sweet chick dish bought at Michael's for 90% off a few years back.....

Chicks, eggs and Reese's Pieces carrots!!

On the right side.....

The black and white ribbon that my friend Kris used on the carrot package that she sent me, gave me the idea for the black and white ribbon.....

Ironically, I had bought this lighted bunny cloche at Big Lot's the year before I decided to do carrots in the Kitchen.....

I did arrange this display a bit differently this year.....

I also decorate the area underneath the desk.....

On top of my vintage metal picnic basket....

Some vintage and some new paper mache eggs inside a bunny egg dish.....

And 2 copper eggs to go with the other copper elements that I have in the Kitchen.....

A cute bunny figurine gifted to me by a friend....

I hung a yellow Easter plaque on the stand....

On the right side of the Hutch.....

On the other shelf that my Dad made.....

I hung this green Easter egg on the hook......

I think I may add a few embellishments to it....

The shelf above the doorway into the Den.....

And this is where I will leave off today.....

In my next post, on Sunday, I will be sharing the rest of the Kitchen decorated for Easter......
