But first, I want to Thank Rachelle, over at My Hubbard Home, for choosing my post, A Huge Landscaping Project, from last week's Friday with Friends Linky Party!!

 Thanks so much, Rachelle!!

And I also want to Thank Lisa, over at Condo Blues, for choosing my post, A Huge Landscaping Project,  as her feature from last week's Friday Favorites Linky Party!!

Thanks so much, Lisa!!

Please stop by and link up to these lovely parties!!

In my previous post, I shared the projects that I thought I "Might as Well" do since we landscaped our next door neighbor's yard.....

Click HERE if you missed that post......

And now for a few Personal Notes...

We had our little Grand Pup Faye over to visit for a good part of the day on Thursday as her Mom and Dad had places to go and things to do after work and they did not want to leave her in the crate for such a long period of time.....

Yes, she is getting furry and yes, it looks like she is winking in the pic above!!

She discovered that if she sits on the arm of this chair, she can look out the front door down into the parking lot since we landscaped our neighbor's yard!!!!!

And she became the little daredevil trying to see if she could see more....

She then found out that if she lays on this arm of the chair, she can see down the hall and out the back door.....

But there wasn't much happening out there so she got a bit bored and started to fall asleep.....

She is her G Pop's little buddy......

Watching TV together.......

And of course, her Uncle Joey was thrilled to see her when he stopped in after work for dinner......

In my next post, I will be sharing how we all celebrated Little Faye's One Year old Birthday!!!!

My neighbor, Tom, who was the one who was feeding the squirrels the peanuts which they kept burying in my pots in the back yard, asked us to landscape his slope.....

We declined as doing my neighbor's slope did put quite a physical toll on us with our bad back issues....

I did agree to help him put down mulch and weed block fabric in his flower bed at the top of his slope after he cut back his trees and shrubs....

On Saturday, with Tom's help, I turned this......

 Into this......

No sooner did we finish my neighbor Tom's yard, my neighbor Ed, who lives next to Tom, renting my neighbor Elly's old home, asks us if he could hire us to do his top flower bed and the large one underneath his Living Room window which is twice as big as ours.....

Now how could you say yes to one neighbor and no to another when their yards are next to each other between 2 sets of steps??????

Ed is physically unable to take care of this area himself as he has hip and knee issues so Joe and I struck a deal with him and were able to complete the flower bed on top of his slope on Saturday.....

After cutting back the Burning Bush, which had lost most of it's leaves and looks to be dying, and the Rose of Sharon Trees, with Tom helping with his electric shears......

I removed a bunch of large rocks as Elly had built a rock garden and laid down the weed block fabric on top of the rocks.....

Then I put down 6 bags of mulch and put the larger rocks back......

Again, the "Might as Well's have hit again!!

We will be working on the remainder of that project this week......

So stay tuned as to how it comes out.....

In the beginning of last week, I managed to strip down the Seasonal Tree in the Living Room after packing away the Patriotic decorations....

I was able to decorate the Living Room in my Late Summer "Under the Sea" theme, starting with the Tree.......

I started with the deco mesh garland that I made.....

I then added a piece of rope, draping it like garland....

I topped the Tree off with a bow and streamers made from aqua and white deco mesh ribbon......

I tucked this greenery from Dollar Tree, which looks like sea weed to me, into the top of the Tree....

Next I added fish netting to the aqua deco mesh garland.....

Next, I started to add the ornaments......

I bought the octopus ornament and I made and embellished the star fish ornaments....

Next I added some store bought sea horses and fish.....

And shells.......

I added some of the ornaments that I made using sea shells that my neighbor Elly picked on Miami Beach when she lived there in the Winters and painstakingly cleaned and separated into sizes .....

 The finished Tree......

I decorate the platform under the Tree also for each Season and Holiday.....

With my "Under the Sea" theme, I set up the "Beach" underneath the Tree......

On the left side.....

I made the "beach" sign several years ago.....

I honestly do not remember where I got the Starfish story from but I remember that I framed it last year and stuck it in with the decorations to be used this year.....

 The "beach" in front.......

I added the candles after the majority of pictures were taken.....

 On the right side.....

 Another sign that I made.....

I bought the anchor at Big Lot's a few years back.....

My Mermaid.......

After I took these pictures, I finished a project that I wanted to do and started 2 years ago......

See it to the right of the platform...

I finally finished the light house I started!!

You may remember that I made this lighthouse out of clay pots for the Front Porch 2 years ago.....

I had wanted to make one for the inside of the house and started it and painted the pots white....

I worked on it several evenings while watching TV and finished it!!

I used aqua as the accent color....

I glued a rope that I had around the rim of each pot.....

Since my hands are not that steady because of the arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, I glued peach colored gem stones to the windows to hide my shaky painting.....

I attached a piece of fish netting to the shells that I glued around the pots.....

And I used river rocks bought at Dollar Tree and small shells to the base which I painted blue for the color of the water......

Instead of a solar light, I glued clay saucers that you put under pots together and put a battery operated candle on top.....

I put it on the floor next to the platform........

So here is my Late Summer "Under the Sea" Tree for this Season.....

I will keep the Living Room decorated in this theme until after Labor Day.....

I really love how this looks with the aqua drapes.....

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon as I have a lot more "Under the Sea" decorations to show you and a few more craft projects!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. I love all your under the sea themed items. Our bathroom has lots of lighthouse items, shells, and photographs of lighthouses I have taken. I also have the story of the starfish with a starfish pin. I will be checking out your ornaments and perhaps make some more. Our guest bedroom has all sorts of memorabilia of shells, sea glass, and so much more. I am thinking of moving a display ladder I have into there and setting it all up that way. I did get all my widgets to work after the Wordpress theme update and have added your blog to my list of links. I'll be adding more now that I have it working again. Have a wonderful day. Hope the good weather continues.

  2. You don't need to visit the beach - You live at the beach!!! So summery and just perfect for August.

I am so impressed with your landscaping business. No wonder everyone wants to hire you. I hear you about the bad back issues, though. But you are doing such a wonderful job with all the projects. Your building looks marvelous!

  4. While we've lived in a lot of different places our home base has always been in Florida, Deb, and I swear I've never seen a prettier or most festive beach tree. All the ornaments are spot on and I definitely appreciate all the extra special details. Can't wait to see the birthday party for your cutie pie grandpup. She's adorable! Hope you have the best day, CoCo

I bet you never imagined that when you retired you would become the neighborhood landscaper. LOL! You and Joe have done a great job cleaning up the "hood". Oh Debbie, that tree is gorgeous! Aqua is my favorite color and all those ornaments you made are just so pretty. Love the adorable lighthouse. So cute!
