Word of the Month for June.......ENJOY!!!

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Happy June!!!
2020 is half over!!

And what a productive year it has been for me so far!!

But before I go further, I want to Thank Pam, over at An Artful Mom, for choosing my post, Memorial Day Front Porch, as one of her features from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Linky Party!!
Thanks so much, Pam!!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

2020 is what I consider to be the first year of my Retirement and I have enjoyed every minute of it!!

Yes, the health crisis did change a few of my goals and plans for the year but really not that many....

Luckily, our family has been able to continue working so financially, we were not affected like so many others were.......

As for myself, I consider myself an Anti Social person normally so Staying Home for me was not any different since I stopped working in February of 2019......

I LOVE finally being able to Stay Home and I seldom went out even before all this started....

As I wrote in a previous post. I was not "Stuck" at Home.......
 I am 'Shining" at Home.....

I was not 'Cooped Up" at Home......
I am "Catching Up" at Home on all the things that I was not able to do when I was working!!

And I was NEVER "Isolated" at Home......
I am "Invigorated" at home!!

Click HERE if you missed this post on how Words can affect one's Mind Set......

All of Pennsylvania's Counties are now at least in the "Yellow" Phase of reopening and some are in the "Green" Phase.......

Ours is still in "Yellow"....

How will this affect us?????

NOT AT ALL!!!

During all of this, Joe and I have pretty much maintained the lifestyle that we had before....

He has continued to work at Wegman's, supposedly taking the risk of being exposed to the General Public and he has continued to shop in all the stores that have remained open around us with Joyful Abandon!!

Notice I did not say Reckless Abandon because he complied to the rules that the CDC put forth.....

Truth be told, we never spent a Holiday without our family during this time.....

As a family of 5, we believe that "What was meant to be, Will be" and we all decided that we were not going to be separated during this time.....

With Auto Immune Disease, I am the one who supposedly has the greatest risk of contracting something but as a Mother, I refused to be separated from my children....

And they all felt the same way....

We celebrated our DIL's Birthday in March, Easter in April, Mother's Day and Memorial Day in May together....

So our Holiday traditions continued and nothing changed because of this Health crisis....

We even had a few socially distanced visits with our Niece Renae and our Great Nieces....

Truth be told, I am still on my first opened bottle of bleach wipes and hand sanitizer and I NEVER wiped anything down that came into this house......

Not groceries. packages, etc......

I think working in Health Care for 42 years helped me not to buy into the panic....

My Word of the Month for May was CHANGE........
And I did make a lot of Seasonal Changes......

I redid Joe's Pittsburgh corner in our Bedroom....
And even allowed him to display some of his Sports Memorabilia on another wall in my very Victorian Bedroom!!
The weather also changed, allowing me to work out in the yard.......

I cleaned and set up the back Patio......
I re-did my Gnome/Fairy Garden in a galvanized tub.....
Joe and I extended the flower bed by our Court's mail boxes....
I decorated for the Summer Patriotic Holidays in the Living Room......
And in the Den.....
I changed the curtains in the Living Room and our Bedroom and bought new air conditioners for both rooms.....
Hung different curtains in the Den.....
Changed the Dining Room to the way it looks normally, without any Holiday decorations.....
And also did the same in the Kitchen.....
Set up and decorated the front porch for Memorial Day and planted all my pots with annuals.....
 And also the front yard.....
 And the back yard.....
Have I mentioned just how much I LOVE being retired????

LOL!!

May was a month filled with a lot of routine Seasonal Changes.....

Another change was that our oldest son, Joey, who stayed here with us from the beginning of this health crisis, moved back to his apartment....

That was a change for all of us even though he still comes here every evening for Dinner and to spend some time....

It was a change for the good because he is now eating healthier...even lost weight since he is not doing fast food and take out all the time....

And one that we will continue with even when this is all over....

And his presence here has prevented Joe and I from killing each other!!

Sad but true!!

So now that May is over and I have made all the changes that occur Seasonally......

June has bright promise!!!
I will not be re-decorating the house again until the second week of July when I switch out all the Patriotic decorations in the Living Room for my late Summer "Under the Sea" Theme decorations....

From now on, I really have more free time than I have had since the end of last August when what I call the Holiday Season started.....

So I have chosen "ENJOY" as my Word for the Month of June......

What exactly does ENJOY mean.....

"to take delight, satisfaction in or pleasure in (an activity or occasion)."

'to have a good time...."

And that is what I intend to do.........

 ENJOY Life......
I intend to ENJOY sitting out on both the front porch and patio........
Looking at my flowers and the birds in the garden and maybe even reading a book or 2.......
That is if I don't fall asleep doing so because I am not used to sitting still, just doing one thing!!

And sit back and ENJOY the Sun Sets from our front porch every evening......
I took those pictures a few nights ago....

I intend to ENJOY doing some crafts that I haven't had the time to do up til now.....
I hope to ENJOY doing some organizing tasks like organizing our storage room which Joe changes on a daily basis....

I plan to ENJOY family time and celebrating Father's Day together.....
And I hope to ENJOY  all the Blessings that God has given me.....
Even though the road has been a bit rough lately for some people.......

My Wish for you all for the Month Of June is that You ENJOY the Journey.....
Life is always about what we choose to make of it!!!!

May you all have these June Blessings in your Life!!
In my next post, I will be sharing some garden projects......
 And a few visitors.......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and happy!!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. Since I fell and broke my humerus the week before the stay home order, being home alone with hubby has been a Godsend to someone who couldn't shower, comb her hair or dress herself. It has been humbling to hear of friends and relatives suffering with both the illness (one passed) and those with financial issues. Now we are just enjoying staying home. And to show my privilege, I just wish I could have one great meal and fellowship in a restaurant like the good ole days! Praying someday things return to normal.

  2. This blog post is very encouraging and I like your choice of the word Enjoy. I too love being retired, ten years now. Your June calendar girl is so cute and cheerful, and I like the photo of your bird visitor enjoying seeds from your tea cup bird feeder.

  6. Debbie,
I am so glad that you will finally have time to enjoy your home and your outdoors. My life didn't change much either except that hubby has been working from home and here every day. That took some getting use to, still am. We were able to get together with family before they went back to Ohio and I get to see my daughter all the time. Life is good.
Have a great and "enjoyable" month.
    Hugs,
    Bev

  8. Debbie, love those gorgeous sunset photos! Glad you are enjoying life and your retirement. I have not been the least bit in a panic at any point during the pandemic, but I have strictly followed the guidelines and will continue to do so. Like you, I enjoy being at home and have plenty to keep me amused! Stay well and happy!

  9. Right now it's sometimes hard to enjoy what we have. I dream of life as it was before, but we are so lucky to be healthy and have a safe home. I should take time each day to enjoy what we do have. - Margy
