Fall/ Halloween Kitchen Hutch, 2019

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I thrilled that you stopped by!!

I finally finished decorating for Fall and Halloween!!

I was able to fill 2 boxes of things that I no longer wanted which were gladly passed on to my niece Renae and my great nieces to decorate their home...

I am so thrilled that they like what I have and will take it for their own....

I not only decorated but I did a lot of Fall House Cleaning before I decorated!!

Since I have not been able to decorate for any Holidays or Seasons since the early Winter because of my knee surgery, I was really excited to get back to decorating the house as I have in the past.....

I get bored with things quickly and decorating for different Holidays and Seasons is one way to change the way your home looks without remodeling!

In a past post, I shared that I decided to do a Fall/Halloween Tree in the Kitchen this year......
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Today, I will be sharing this wall in our Kitchen.....
I always say that this is the focal wall of our small Kitchen.....
I like to decorate the desk area of our hutch and underneath the it.........
I decorate the Kitchen for Fall with a touch of Halloween and that is why I chose to decorate this Tree the same way.......
Next to the Tree is a chalkboard that a former co worker of mine had given me.....
I added a bow that I made from plaid ribbon....
Taped a vintage style Halloween picture over the apple tile......
Wrote Happy Harvest on the chalkboard.....
And placed a cute Fall Block sign that I bought in Michael's last year and a few faux gourdes on the shelf.....
Next to the Tree on the floor, is a vintage milk carrier and milk bottles that I painted from a Dairy that is still in business here in NEPA.....
I tucked a cute sun flower stake, bought at Dollar General for a buck, into one of the milk bottles and placed a sweet wooden pumpkin bought at Dollar Tree into the empty section of the carrier.....
Now on to the Hutch......
I leave the top shelves the alone......
Except for adding another plaid ribbon bow at the top.....
The top shelves have a Fall Farmhouse type feel......
Which I think lends itself nicely to my Fall decor.....

I decorated the Tree, trying match with how I decorate the desk area.......
I think I did pretty well with that.....
I turned off the milk glass hurricane lamp because of the glare.....
I cut a plaid runner that I had bought in Dollar General last year and used for my table at our church's Harvest Tea, to fit this area.....
It goes well with the plaid ribbon that I have used through out the Kitchen......
Ghosts, Jack O Lanterns......
Lollipops and glass candy.......
Mason canning jars filled with different types of candy corn.....
I bought this cute wood sign at Gabes a few years ago.....
I placed a few burlap like leaves bought at Dollar Tree this year on top of the plaid runner.....
I keep the candy corn from year to year.....
I bought this cute Jack O Lantern cookie in Gabes.....
I filled this Fall recipe box that I bought at a church flea market with a Fall floral arrangement.....
With the light on......
The bones scattered about are actually candy bought at Dollar Tree.....

I am so glad that I decided to do a Fall/ Halloween Kitchen Tree this year.....
It will save me the time it took to bring it down from the attic and set it up when it comes time to decorate the Kitchen for Christmas....

Underneath the desk area....
A gold ceramic Bird bird house hangs from the knob of the drawer....
I like to set up a small display on top of the vintage metal picnic basket....
We do not use the heating element behind the hutch so I placed a pumpkin tray bought at Dollar Tree last year that I used for the Harvest Tea sandwiches on the heater as a back drop.......
That is the nice thing with electric heat...you decide what heaters you want to use or not and we have never used this one in 41 years.....
I added a painted mason jar and a red glass leaf to the copper lantern and candlelight which is here all the time....
Now let's take a look at a few things on this side of the hutch....
I hung a metal pocket with a floral arrangement in it from the antique styled hook.....
And wrote Fresh Apple Cider 4 Sale on this vintage bread board that I had painted with chalkboard paint....
And that is where I will end this post for today....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated this wall in my Kitchen.....

On a more personal note, I am sure you will be shocked to find out that I drove yesterday for the first time since February!!!

When I had to stop working because of the pain in my knee, I stopped driving because it was my right knee....

After surgery, again, my right knee was sore and stiff and I did not want to take the chance driving and possibly getting into an accident because of my knee so I just didn't drive...

We went down to one car right before I had to stop working so I think I only drove our new car about 4-5 times....
With Joe being retired and working part time, he was able to drive me to where ever I had to or wanted to go and when he is at work, he has the car so I am not able to go anywhere and I am good with that....

Now that I am retired, I LOVE being able to stay home and often joke that I could live quite well with never having to leave my home....

Joe is the opposite because his skin starts to crawl if he is home for too long hence, the need for him to get out of the house and work part time which suits him just fine....

I do not like crowds and a lot of people and having worked for over 41 years as a nurse who had to deal with people who are at their worst because they are ill or because their family member is ill, I am good with not being around a lot of people!!

That was another reason why I worked night shift for over 37 years......

Anyway, I drove home from Big Lot's yesterday and it truly is like riding a bike.....

Joe had his eyes covered the whole way home so nothing has really changed!!

But he did keep his mouth shut because he knew better!!!

In my next post, I will be sharing the rest of the Kitchen decorated for Fall and Halloween.....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  6. Hey, up there in PA, Debbie! Your kitchen looks adorable in all its Fall colors. I love the season but wish it would get cooler and start feeling like Fall, here in SC, where we are having some of the hottest weather since(I think I've heard) back in 1940's! I'm glad you are now feeling up to doing some of the things you have always been used to doing. That's very good news! I hope to get back into the swing of things and start blogging again. I have a very active Pinterest account and I still post pins to that on a fairly regular basis. I hope the holiday season will be a good one for you and Joe and the family. I often think of you.

  7. Debbie, everything looks lovely, it makes me tired just thinking about decorating. I did out a few things out though.
Driving! Im going to do a blog post about driving soon. Hubby stopped driving a year ago so now its my job. He's the one who liked driving and im the one who did not. Life turns funny sometimes..

  8. I enjoyed seeing your kitchen; you surely do work hard at decorating. My kitchen table has a vase of faux sunflowers on it and I'm calling that good. I decorate my front hall for fall/Halloween and enjoy that. I have found several H. items for my H. dollhouse at GW this season and treated myself to one of Michaels' big foam pumpkins with the cut out so I can make a scene inside--dunno if it will get done this year as I am working on things for our Nov. church bazaar. But I have it! Bought some skellies at Dollar Tree this week; I am a happy camper!
