Early Fall Front Yard, 2019

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing our Front Yard decorated for Fall after we packed away all the Summer Garden Art.....

But first, I want to Thank the hosts of Waste Not Wednesday for featuring my post, I Have Been Making Fall/Halloween Ornaments, as one of the Most Clicked On posts from last week's party!

Thanks so much, Deborah, over at Salvage Sister and Mister, Leanna over at Faeries and Fauna, and Sam, over at Raggedy Bits !!

Please stop by and link up to this lovely party!!

In my last post, I shared how I decorated our Front Porch for Fall with a little bit of Halloween ...
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

I still can not believe how the marigolds are blooming this late in the Season!!

Truly, I am not doing anything special than just watering them......

Today, I want to continue sharing the Fall decorations in the front of our house for early Fall.....

I am saying early Fall because not only are the marigolds still thriving but so are the impatiens and the begonias!!!

This is the small flower bed under our Living Room window......
I went with a red, orange and yellow color theme when I was deciding what color annuals to plant in the Spring because I thought it would make it easier to transition to Fall......
I never thought that I would not have to buy mums yet this late in the Season!!

This is the long planter that is at the end of our front porch.....
I planted it with only 4 begonias!!!
You can see that I put out my Fall mini flags.....
In the center of the flower bed is a Fall topiary that I made a few years ago out of a tomato cage.....
It is flanked by 2 pots planted with red impatiens.....

I need to trim those shrubs again so the topiary can be seen a bit better.....
It is sitting in a tub that I painted a number of years ago......
And then painted a crude "Welcome" on it.....
I turned a pot underside down and placed the topiary inside of it....

There is a set of orange lights wrapped around the topiary.....
These are the 2 large urns that sit on the retaining wall at the end of that small flower bed.....
The urns are planted with red new guinea impatiens......

The other long planter box is nestled in between the 2 urns......
Will you look at how those 4 begonias have grown!!!

Looking back at the front porch.....
Looking out at our small front yard from the front porch.....
At this end of the flower bed is our faux mailbox......
The chippy angel is to the side of it.....
I left out a few bunnies and deer for the Winter months......
And I also set out a small faux pumpkin that I have had for years.....
We will be packing away the solar lights in the beginning of November to make it easier to shovel the snow off the sidewalk when it starts to fall....

I have a cute Scarecrow mail box cover on for now but I will be changing it in October.....
In the small pot under the faux mailbox, is one begonia ....
And on the other side of the mail box is an address sign that has different pictures that could be changed for the Seasons and another faux pumpkin.....
The sweet deer will stay out for the Winter.....
My park bench.......
I have 2 bows made from burlap like deco mesh attached to the lantern.......
The bows match the ones on the front porch railing.....
More faux pumpkins......
I was asked how do I keep the faux pumpkins from blowing away and rolling down the road when it is very windy.....

This is the first time I have placed the pumpkins out in the yard ....

I had in previous years, put them inside the black urns on each side of the front porch.....
And also in the small flower bed under the Living Room window which has a little garden fence around it.....
This year, I pounded a spike into the ground and then made a hole in the bottom of the pumpkins and placed them on to the spike to hold them in place.....

So far it has worked and we have had some pretty windy days...
Again, the Summer annuals in these 2 pots on the park bench are still thriving......
This red gerber daisy is still hanging in there.....
And so is this yellow marigold.....
A small orange lantern and another faux pumpkin were added to the lantern and angel that always grace the park bench.....
Looking toward the end on my front yard....
The red impatiens are still looking okay planted in that vintage watering can.....
These deer even get decorated for Christmas and Winter......
Another Fall mini flag and pumpkin along with a yellow marigold that just popped up out of nowhere......
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated our front yard for early Fall......
We have been having wonderfully beautiful weather here with morning temps even falling into the mid 40's and afternoon temps rising into the 70's!!
But because of the low temps., I am thinking that the first frost is not too far in the future......
Meaning the end of my annuals......
And the need to replace them with some mums and maybe rearrange a few things......

So I will be sharing a late Fall update on the front porch and yard in the future when these changes occur.......

I have been decorating for Fall like crazy and I do mean crazy!!!

So much so that my back was killing me.....

I was so excited to decorate because I have not changed anything in the house since February because I was not able to climb the attic stairs both before and after my knee replacement surgery.....

I admit that I was a bit leary about doing so but I have had no issues going up and coming down the pull down attic steps.....

I do it because Joe had no idea where anything is up there and since you can not stand up straight in the attic, I know how to walk up there without getting impaled by the roofing nails.....

Joe does not know how to do that and usually gets spiked a few times!!

I do hand tubs down to him and he hands them up to me...

I cleaned and decorated the Kitchen and the Powder Room in addition to the outside which I have already shared with you and then I started on the Living Room.....

Now, it is not just decorating each room...

I give each room what my Mother always called, " A Good Fall House Cleaning"..

In the Living Room, I usually change out the Summer curtains for the Winter drapes and change the linens from Summer to Fall.....

This year, I did not have to change out the curtains because I never managed to hang the Summer ones......

We did take out the Living Room air conditioner so I had to clean the window and then hang lace curtains for the Winter......

I moved the 6 foot white Tree back up to the Sitting Room upstairs to make room for the platform in this corner......
Here is the platform in the hall way after we brought it downstairs....
And Joe went and brought the 7 foot slim Tree home from our storage shed......
Okay, now that I am no longer working, I can tell you that the two 7 foot Trees that I have, fit very nicely in a "Body Bag"......

Yes, that is a body bag that found it's way home with me from the hospital.....

Did I creep you all out????

Halloween is coming after all......

Because my back was killing me, I was forced to sit down with a nice heating pad and I began to think about what the heck am I doing.....

I have been decorating like crazy and moving at the speed of light like I always have.....

Then I realized that I am now retired and I do not have to move that fast because I have plenty of time to get it all done!!

This is definitely something that I am going to have to get used to, for sure!!

In my next post, I will be sharing my Fall/Halloween Tree that I have set up for the first time in the Kitchen this year....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. Your porch is like looking at magazine photos. I can look and look several more times. It is all so beautiful. I wish I had a long front porch like yours. Take it easy girl! You are no longer running a race....slow down and enjoy the decorating process as it unfolds. If you are like me I get so anxious to get it done, so I can enjoy it. I can't wait to see the inside of your home all decorated for the season. Hugs my friend.
