A Few New Things, Something to Start a Large Project and A Giveaway Gift!!!

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I haven't been out doing much shopping lately because, truly, I really do not want to spend any money on things that, at this stage in my life, I do not really need!!!

HOWEVER..........

I did have a 20 % off everything including sale merchandise at Michael's and since I know that they have their Fall and Halloween items out, I decided to stop in!!

Well......

My O My!!

So much Fall and Halloween Goodness!!!

This Summer is really wearing on me as I am no lover of heat and humidity so I have been cooped up in the house with the air conditioners blaring and the shades drawn so the Sun will not heat up the house anymore than it already is!!!

And once again, we broke a record here for the wettest July on record which was broken last year in July!!!!
This photo was taken from our front porch as a thunderstorm approached.....
That is the Veteran's Administration Hospital up on the hill....
Last year, we got over 10 inches of rain in August....

Hopefully, we will not break that record this month!!!!

Fall can not come fast enough for me....

Fall is my favorite Season of the year.....

I also feel much better in cooler temps. and have less swelling in my feet and in my operative knee.....

Any way......

This is what I bought at Michael's......

I saw this last year and when I went back to get it, it was gone so I was determined that it was not going to happen to me this year......
I think it will be perfect in my Kitchen!!

It was 40 % off and I had that 20% off coupon!!

Same thing with this little goodie!!!
So darn cute and again, it will find a home for the Fall in my Kitchen!!

Then they had 70 % off Clearance which the 20% off coupon was not goof for but that was okay.....

I bought this white enamelware sign.......
Was $14.00, bought it for a little over $4.00!!

I already have 2 similar signs.......

And I bought these 2 bunches of pretty yellow flowers .....
They were less than a buck for each!!

In the Winter, not long after I had to quit work in February because I was having such difficulty walking, I decided to start a HUGE project!!!!

I went through TONS and TONS of pictures that we took when the boys were growing up that I, unfortunately, NEVER found the time to put into albums or anything!
All those containers under a folding table in my Craft Room are filled with envelops of pictures!!!!!
Before my surgery, I did manage to get them all organized by year!!!

Now I realized that to put all those pictures in albums would cost a small fortune and where in heaven's name would I store all those albums!!

So I looked for other ideas on how to store them more compactly and I found this on Amazon that I paid around $30 for........
It holds 16 individual cases which holds 80 -100 photos each!!

Therefore, almost 1600 photos can be stored in this case alone!!

Walking down the aisles of Michael's, something caught my eye!!!!
This case made by Recollections!!!

It also can hold up to 1600 photos!!!!!
And now wait for it.........

It was on SALE for 70% off!!!!!!

Not Clearance......

So that meant the 20% off coupon was also good for it!!!!!

The original price was $42.00!!!

With the 70 % off and the 20 % off coupon, the case came down to $10 and change!!!!!

So I bought 2 more!!!!!
I now have space for close to 4800 photos!!!!!!

I think maybe I should go and get another case????????

I am also going to be organizing and taking photos that were my mother's out of old paper albums.....

These cases are acid free so they will be great for storing antique photos too!!!

Since we are on the topic of organizing......

I picked up 2 binders in Ocean State Job Lot that I plan to use in managing my Time, projects, holidays , gardening, etc.!!!
I also stocked up on "school" supplies like pens, paper clips, scotch tape, White Out......

This is a good time to buy things like that even if you do not have any children who are school age because they are all over the place and are pretty cheap right now!!!!

I also bought this tablecloth which was $5.00 on sale for $3.00......
I plan on cutting it and making a valance and a curtain for my Kitchen and who knows what else!!

You can't buy fabric that cheap....

I often buy tablecloths to use as fabric because they are cheaper, especially when they are on sale!!!!

All clay pots were on sale for 40% off at Ocean State Job Lot so I picked some up to make another light house for a Christmas gift for someone.....

And last, I was the lucky recipient of one of Lory's Giveaways over at DesignThusiasm!!!!

I won this charmingly delightful Tea Cup and Saucer!!!!!
Isn't she a beauty????
Love the colors!!
 "Winsome"
 Royal Standard
Fine Bone
China
England
There are flowers on both sides of the tea cup.......
And another style on the front.....
 Stunning!!
I found the perfect place for it in my Sitting Room!!

I will be sharing that in another post!!

Thanks so much , Lory!!!!

I hope you liked seeing some of my new things!!

And I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

    1. Hi Debbie, wow you hit the jackpot! I love those picture organizer boxes, I also have tons of pics from when our boys were growing up. Scattered in different boxes due to our several moves, I also have a lot of old pictures that belonged to my mom, of her teenage and young adult years, of me as a young girl..I need to get those out of the box and do something with them, too. I'd like to get them scanned and put on discs for me, my brother and my sister. Sounds like a fall project, Fall is my favorite time of year too.

I 'lost' my blogging voice a few years ago and over the years I have made half hearted efforts at my blog, but now I feel that voice coming back. Hope you stop by and say hi!

  2. What a great haul you found whilst shopping. I loved the mercantile sign as my blog is called mamasmercantile. Such a great storage solution finding the photos containers.

  5. Hi Debbie, WoW! what bargains you found. I really like the photo storage idea. I am going to look for the same container, and then hopefully I can wait for the right sale price. You are great at finding solutions to many organizing delimas. Thanks for sharing. Hugs my sweet friend.

  6. Boy, Debbie, that is a haul...I would have had to wrestle you to the ground for those photo boxes---I still have to go through 4 generations of photos---ours are pretty well controlled, but not my ancestors--for sure!

  8. Oh girl, you got yourself some GREAT deals! My kind of gal! I am in LOVE with that teacup and saucer! What an awesome idea to do with photos. I have been saying for a long time that I was going to go through and sort pictures and make each of my three girls a picture box and have not done it yet! Well, maybe I will let them do that one day. Hugs and blessings to you dear lady.

  10. Such great finds at Michael's - I love it when I get such great bargains! And I'm with you on the heat, ready to be done with it! Thanks for sharing with us at the Snickerdoodle Link Party! This will be one of my features this coming Saturday!

  11. I loved seeing all of your new treasures! I haven't made kitchen curtains from a tablecloth--yet, but I love making things using a machine done edge that is ALWAYS straighter than I can do. I have made Christmas cloth gift bags from table cloths and shower curtains, tablecloths from shower curtains (only 1 end to sew!), and pillow cover backs using the hem edges of sheets! Altho I often use a credit card, I tell people that if you looked in my checkbook, you'd think my 3 best friends are Joann, Michael, and AC (Moore)!

    1. Kathy,
So happy that you stopped by again!! Our A.C. Moor unfortunately, closed several years ago but Michael's is literally 5 minutes away from me. JoAnn's is also local but about a 15 minute drive and for some reason, I always forget to go there as the majority of stores are located right next to me....
      Hugs,
      Deb

  13. When you see bargains like that it really would be rude not to!

  14. Oh Debbie, what pretty cups! Like the photo holders too -- though I'm more purging and tossing or sending to others than keeping, once I scan them!

  15. Debbie, that's quite a haul! My mother enjoyed shopping and, like you, was great at finding bargains. But I hate shopping. I have to go for a specific thing that I've already determined they have, and then get in and get out! Tea person that I am, of course I love that teacup and saucer!

  16. You certainly have been a bargain shopper, Debbie - and your teacup is beautiful! Thank you for sharing at Party In Your PJ's!

  19. Those are great finds! I love that teacup so much, and the tablecloth as fabric idea is great. I have that same photo storage unit! But when we moved, I think I lost some of the small containers that fit inside. I have a ton of pictures from over the years to organize too. Thanks for sharing at Thursday Favorite Things!
