Winter Front Porch and Yard, 2019

Welcome back to my regular Blog, Debbie-Dabble Blog!!!!!

This year, I decided that I will only be posting when I feel I have something to share, something that maybe you would like to see.......

I traditionally do not take down my Christmas decorations until Epiphany, the Feast of the Three Kings as celebrated by the Catholic Church.......
Or Jan. 7th, which is considered "Russian" Christmas in this area where a large amount of Eastern European Immigrants settled in the early 1900's!!!
"Russian" Christmas is celebrated according to the Julian Calendar by Eastern Orthodox Christians, with their Christmas Day falling on Jan. 7th instead of December 25th......

Many in this area still celebrate "Russian" Christmas.....

We had a bit of ice and a dusting of snow last night but since temps. would be rising above freezing today, I felt it was opportunity to switch over the outside Christmas decorations to Winter decorations especially since Joe was home and could take down things to our Storage shed that we rent......

By the end of the week, we will be returning to our normal Winter weather......
When I decorated for Christmas in the front of our house this year, I had decided to incorporate some of the decorations that I used for Winter to make it easier to switch over after Christmas......

Boy, am I ever glad that I did that because it was far faster to make the change over to Winter Outside decorations!!!!

This is what the front porch looked like decorated for Christmas......
Here it is now, decorated for Winter.......
 Christmas.......
 Winter........
Deciding to put the snowflakes on the topiary trees and the garland for Christmas was one of my best ideas!!
Let's look at the front porch........
The area dividing our front porch from my neighbor's porch........

Remember, I live in a townhouse.......

I left the wicker deer out but just took off the red velvet bow and added some jingle bells...........
Christmas......
Winter......
I also changed out the red velvet bow on the lantern for one made out of the red striped burlap ribbon that I used elsewhere on the front porch for Christmas.......
I left out the Christmas elf so we will now call him a Winter elf or gnome........
Christmas......
Winter.......
The snowflakes and red striped burlap bows were already on the garland around the door.....
I changed out the Christmas wreath.......
For a Winter wreath...
I made this wreath a few years ago.......
Cardinals are part of my Winter theme decorations.......
I love the burlap cardinal ribbon on this wreath and the "Let It Snow" sign with a cardinal on it!!
Christmas.....
Winter........
I took down the Christmas items by the front door and replaced them with Winter Slates......
Christmas.......
Winter......
A Winter garden slate.....
And a Penguin slate hanging from the faux mailbox.......
I leave my childhood sled out all Winter.......
The "Snow" sign has also been left out for Winter.....
Christmas things were replaced with more Winter Snow Man Slates.....
And this Snow Man will stay on the table all Winter too!!
Over in the corner of the front porch.......

Christmas......
 Winter......
The bells and red velvet bow was taken off the tree......
And replaced with a red striped burlap bow.......
The Happy Holidays sign and the tin stocking was replaced with 2 Winter slates......
Christmas.....
Winter......
The lighted snowflake in the middle of the railing finally died so it was replaced with another Dollar Tree snowflake.......
The bows and snowflakes were already on the garland ......
The Tree topiaries on each side of the porch stayed the same......
So this is how the porch will look for the Winter months........
The flower bed under the Living Room window..........

Christmas.......
Winter.......
I replaced the wreath on the window with a Winter one......
I made this wreath a few years ago.......
I added the Let It Snow red metal sign this year.......
It came off of this Penguin which fell and broke into a million pieces last year!!!
I changed out the Christmas mini flags for Winter ones.......
One has cardinals on it and the other has a Snow Man on it.....
The angel and the vintage watering cans with stay out for the Winter......
 The front yard.......
You can see that we had a little bit of ice and snow during the night.....

Everything stayed the same here except I removed the red velvet bow on the garland around the mail box......
I left the Winter Scene mail box cover on......
The Let It Snow sign is perfect for an NEPA Winter.....
My park bench.......
Christmas.....
Winter......
 Christmas......
 Winter.......
The red poinsettia was packed away and replaced with a Winter scene slate..........
I replaced the red velvet bow on the lantern with a red striped burlap bow......
 Christmas.....
 Winter.....
I also removed the red velvet bows from the garland around the deer necks and replaced the Christmas mini flag with a Winter one, again with cardinals on it...........
Here are a few photos taken in the evening......
Just because the Holidays are over, it doesn't mean your home has to look dark and dismal for the rest of the Winter......

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I transformed my front porch and yard Christmas decorations into Winter decorations........
Tomorrow, I will start packing away Christmas in the Living Room and when I have something new to share, I will post again......

So  I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. I always love little white lights - year 'round! And your little snowmen and mailbox and lamp post especially are so cute, all decorated! I have a handful of ornaments from England that I will keep up, but not on the Christmas tree, which is taken down now, but maybe on a little thorn bush or something. ANYway, the Russian Christmas is interesting to me, especially because I've been reading a lot of Orthodox stuff lately.

  2. Lots of pretty stuff girl! Boxing it all up is such a job I am sure. But oh so pretty! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. You are really smart. Just to incorporate Christmas decorations in winter, so that you don't need to take down everything to make winter decorations all over again.

  4. Hi Deb. Love the snowflakes over the porch. I hung my "Let it Snow" sign on the front door but no real snow here yet. We are hopeful though..Happy Thursday..Judy

  5. This is so pretty and I love how it's doing 'double duty' allowing you to keep a lot of it up for winter. Love those big snowflakes (much better than the real thing hahaha!). It's been unseasonably 'warm' here and I've been loving it. We actually got all of our measurable snow this winter in NOVEMBER . . . so far. None in December -- fine with me!

  6. All you decorations look wonderful! I like the tiny lights myself and have a mystical feel to them. I've been decorating the same making it easy to remove a few pieces and add winter ones. I must say I love your angel statue and need to find one for myself. Wishing you and hubs a blessed New Years!

  7. As I have been scrolling through blogs tonight, I have seen so many cute snowmen, but none with fancy porches like yours. I'm amazed that your can leave all the decor out in the harsh winter weather.

  8. You certainly did so much with just a little space. Tons of photos to show us what you did. Found you on Over the Moon link party.

  9. Just found you and I'm hoping you will decorate for Valentine's Day and post soon so that I can copy you!!! I love it! I always decorate inside for each holiday but don't do much outside. I'm hoping you will help me change that! Thanks!

  11. Debbie your front porch is full of cheer. I really like all of those snowmen and the signs too. Perfect for that blustery weather we are having. Stay safe and warm.

  12. That was a great idea to put most of the winter décor out with the Christmas stuff; I find it's just too cold after Christmas to want to be outside decorating but if I only had to make small changes that wouldn't be so bad. Love all the snowman signs and décor; snowmen are probably the only part of winter I enjoy. :)

  13. It looks like winter! Festive and fun and I love that. You did a great job of modifying the season. I finally have Christmas down and (waiting to be packed away, along with some seasonal purging), winter up and one day soon I'll even take pix for Marmelade Gypsy. Until then, I'll enjoy yours!
