What's in Your Curio?, Part 1, My Very own Bed and Breakfast

  Welcome!!

I know it has been a little bit since I last posted....

I had intended to share some photos of the yard work we had been doing around the house but we have had a week of rain!!!
First, we had unseasonably cold temps. for April and in May, we got all the rain that was supposed to be April Showers that bring May flowers!!!!

Today, I am returning with another post in "My Very Own Bed and Breakfast Series"....

I will be sharing what I have on display in one of the 4 curios that I have in our townhouse that I have turned into my very own Bed and Breakfast.........

In previous posts in this Series, I have shared other areas in our Dining Room which I call the most Victorian looking room in our home......

The Buffet........
Click HERE if you missed that post......

And I also shared some of my Tea Cup Collection.......
Click HERE if you missed this post.....

As I mentioned before, I will be continuing in the Dining Room with this Series........
We will be moving to the right of the buffet to the small curio that I was able to take from my dear neighbor Elly's house......
Click HERE if you missed my Tribute post to this lovely woman.....

I want to first share the wall above the curio.........
I still love the Home Interiors products that I have in my home......
The gold wheat plaque is a HI product.......
Along with this shelf and Victorian Lady figurine......
I also want to show you a few items that I have on display on top of this small curio......
A Victorian style dress form figurine and a pink stained glass flower lamp......
I bought this pretty demitasse cup and saucer in an Antique Marketplace last year for $5.00!!
This is the marking on the saucer.......
Such a pretty floral pattern!!
And an equally pretty pattern inside the cup!!
A crystal bud vase holds some pink faux roses.......
A Victorian styled picture frame with a photo of what I call "instant Relatives", meaning I bought the photo at a flea market.......
Also a pink mercury glass votive and a cute Victorian house ornament......
Brass fans hang on the wall......

And now to the curio.......
This is the smaller of 2 curios that I have in the Dining Room that came from my neighbor's house.....
Let's take a look inside, shall we??????
You can see that the plates all have the same pattern displayed in this curio........

Our Dining Room furniture was inherited from Joe's Maternal Grandmother....

The set of dishes that she had on display in the hutch of this Dining Room set was of that same pattern of dishes.......
I really would have liked those dishes but they were taken by one of Joe's Uncle's so over the years, I found a few fancy pieces of that pattern of dishes and decided to pay homage to Joe's Grandmother and display them.........

The top shelf.......
Over on the left side is a vintage pitcher that was Joe's Maternal grandmother's......
It has a luster finish and is marked "Germany" on the bottom.....
To the right is a beautiful plate with a 24 K Gold trim around it.......
It is marked 24 K Gold on the back of the plate.......
I collect dishes in the "Moss Rose" pattern and have the hutch in the Dining Room filled with them.......

I have decided to display some "Moss Rose" pieces in this curio also............
A Hurricane style small lamp, a small pitcher and a small dish.......
A porcelain rose also graces this shelf......

The middle shelf.........
Again, another plate in the same pattern......
The green trim around the plate has a gold filigree pattern on it that I unfortunately did not pick up on camera.......
It is also marked 24 K Gold on the back of the plate.......

A pretty glass in green with a gold trim sits in front of the plate......
Along with a "Moss Rose" lighter and a tea cup and saucer in the same pattern of the plates.......
To the right of the plate , is another small lamp in the "Moss Rose" pattern......
Some pink berries and flowers add a bit to the display......
The bottom shelf......
I have 2 smaller plates displayed on this shelf.........

To the left is one with a simple gold trim around the edge of the plate......
It sits in a plate holder with a gold angel on it......
In front of it , is a vintage nut dish......
Such a beautiful pattern on it....
In the center is a "Moss Rose" vase.......
Over on the right side, is a smaller plate with a beautiful gold trim around it.....
A "Moss Rose" stamp dispenser sits in front of it......
Some greenery was placed in front of the plate......
And a pretty lace doily graces the bottom shelf.......
2 Victorian Dolls stand on both sides of the curio.......
I hope you enjoyed seeing What was in this Curio.....

I will be continuing my series, My Very Own  Bed and Breakfast, in the future........

I hope to be doing a few gardening posts soon.....

I have the front and back yards and the front porch and the back patio all cleaned up and set up for the Summer......
Above is what our front slope looked like when all the phlox were in bloom......

My azaleas are also opening.....
We worked on getting the yard ready between all the days that we had rain......

I just got the patio set up and also worked on my 2 Fairy Gardens.......
I changed things up a bit........

I will be off for a few days this week and we are supposed to have nice weather so I will be going and buying my annuals to plant in all my pots.........

I also will be starting to decorate for the Patriotic Holidays so I will have a LOT to share......

So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  3. Your front yard with everything blooming is so beautiful! Down here (SC) our azaleas, and just about everything else, bloomed early due to a warm Feb. My Mother's china is moss rose. My sister has it now and I've recently found a gravy boat, cigarette lighter and holder for her. Thanks for sharing your lovely collections.

  10. As I'm reading your posts, I'm thinking about all of my mother's wonderful treasures and the cabinets in which they were displayed. My sister and were to each get on of the cabinets and they are absolutely gorgeous, but just like her teacup collection, neither cabinet fits in my style so my sister has them both.
