Red and Gold Valentine's Vignettes for American Heart Month 2018

Welcome!!

I know Valentine's Day has passed but I keep up my Valentine's and Winter decor until the end of Feb. because it is American Heart Month as deemed by the American Heart Association......

How did I spend my Valentine's Day..........

In the Urgent Care with Joe in the afternoon......

We had some unexpected Freezing Rain during the night so on the morning of the 14th, I called Joe to put some Ice Melt down so I could get out of the car and make it into our house, after working all night, with out falling.......

Only Joe fell on the ice......

Long story short, when he wanted to be seen by a Dr. , I knew something was wrong because Joe is Dr. Phobic!!

He has a hairline fracture of the 7th rib on the left and chipped a bone in his left wrist.

We were concerned about his back because Joe has severe Osteoporosis and has already had 2 compression fractures in his back and receives yearly infusions of Reclast to try to increase the density of his bones........

Thank Goodness his back is okay but he is in a lot of pain because of the rib fracture.

He will be seeing an Orthopedic Hand Specialist and Surgeon about his wrist , which is in a splint but is hardly bothering him.....

So for right now, his career as a cashier at Wegman's is on hold until he heals and I am playing nurse at home now too on my days off.......

So I am a bit late in doing this post........

I want to share with you a more detailed look at some of the decorations on our Living Room which I did in a red and gold theme for Valentine's ........

On the marble topped plant stand near the front door......
I filled the bottom of this hurricane candle with red and gold ornaments and tied a red rope chord around it......
On each side of the candle are embellished heart boxes.....
Surrounding the apothecary jar below, on a gold tray, is a red rose garland that I cut into a candle ring with gold roses tucked into it......
Another red rope chord hangs from the top of the jar......

On the front door, hangs an embellished heart that I made......
I added a few red touches to the hutch in what I call the foyer......
On each side of the hutch, red velvet roses were added to existing vignettes......
Along with a small red ornament......
The top of the hutch was decorated for Valentine's.......
The garland and the lights on it  stay there all year.......
I left out the gold LED battery operated trees from Christmas.......
A few Valentine's items are displayed on each side of the top of the hutch........

With red rose velvet garland with gold roses tucked in and a vintage styled Love sign in the center......
I added a few red touched to the inside of the hutch......
Red ornaments and red glittered rose ornaments......
Also in this hutch are a collection of angels........
Iris  Herringbone Depression Glass......
Along with several pieces of aqua colored glassware.....
Gold glittered candle holders......
A vintage crystal sugar and creamer set that was Joe's Grandmother's.....
And Gold mercury glass votives.......
I added a few red touches to existing vignettes on the tables in the Living Room........
Along with a few vintage styled Valentine's cards......
I will let the photos do most of the talking......
The box with a heart on it is one of a set of 3 that I just bought on Amazon using a gift card from my son that I received for Christmas......
A vintage Valentine......
A heart garland and wreath......
Vintage styled Valetuine's slates.......
I hope you enjoyed seeing more of my Valetnine's decor........

In my next post, I will be sharing how I changed the Powder Room over from Christmas to Winter with a bit of Valentine's........
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  2. Best wishes to your husband. I broke a rib on my last day on crutches after knee surgery - it was way worse than the knee!.

    Happy Heart month.

  3. Sending many well wishes Joe's way. So good that his back was not injured in the fall. Something I have forgotten to get checked until your post is bone density. Gotta do that. I hope he is mending well and on his way to a full recovery very soon.
    Your decorations are just beautiful

  6. My goodness that was a nasty fall Joe took. Glad his back is ok. He is blessed to have a nurse right there at home. No way to spend Valentine's is it? I still have my Valentine's mantle and coffee bar up because I love it and just am not ready to see an end to the holiday spirit. So glad you share with us at Merry Monday. I always enjoy visiting your home.
