I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

That's a Lot of Green......

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

February 26th was the 34th anniversary of my Dad's passing.....

This picture was taken only a few weeks before he died suddenly from a massive Heart Attack.....

He was, and will always be, the Most Important Man in my Life....

My biggest disappointment in Life is that my sons , who were 3 and 5 at the time, did not get to benefit from my Dad's vast knowledge and wisdom.....

This is my son, Joey, who idolized my Dad, with his little hammer, helping his Grampy put up shelves that he made for me......

Jim does not even remember him but Joey remembers my Dad , laying on the floor playing with him, and that is the BEST memory he can have of my Dad so for that, I am forever grateful!!!!

Ironically, I always get a "sign" from my Dad around this time......

Joe buys his numbers that he plays on the Match 6 PA Lottery Game for several days.....

He bought his ticket for this week's numbers on February 26th....

On Saturday, February 27th, he matched 5 numbers out of the 6, winning $1000 on the Match 6 ticket that he bought on February 26th!!!!

Joe picks the numbers in the top row but the 2 other rows are computer picks.....

These were the winning 6 numbers.....

He also matched other numbers which earned him an additional $25 in winnings.....

This is the first time he won something substantial on this type of Game as he usually wins on the Scratch Off tickets.....

Also interesting is that 2 of the numbers that he won on were 11 and 17.....

My Dad's Birthday is 11/17!!!

November 17th......

And Joe's luck continues as he won $500 of a $5 Scratch Off on Sunday, the 28th!!!!

I guess these were my "signs" for this year.....

Good Bye to February, which even though it was our snowiest on record, I LOVED IT!!!!

I LOVE Snow and I do love Winter!!

I am still not in the mood for Spring!!

I finally did get some motivation to start to take down some Winter decorations.....

We had a few days where the temps. actually got into the 40's and even one day, into the 50's!!

BUT

Winter is far from over for us because we got about an inch of snow over night on Saturday before it turned to rain as the temps. rose.....

I packed away only the Winter decorations in and around the china cupboard in the Den as this is the only place where I decorate for Saint Patrick's Day.....

Now Saint Patrick's Day is a BIG deal around here in NEPA as there were many Irish immigrants that settled here in the early 1800's, a hundred years before the influx of the Eastern European immigrants that came to work in the mines......

Scranton is noted for their Saint Patrick's Day parade which is deemed amongst the largest in the country.......

Wilkes Barre holds their parade the day after the Saint Patrick's Day parade in Scranton as many of the marching units that come from far away also participate in Wilkes Barre's parade.....

Last year's parades were cancelled due to the Pandemic..

BUT this year, BOTH Scranton and Wilkes Barre have decided to postpone their Saint Patrick's Day parades until September!!!!!!

YEP!!

You are reading that right..

September!!!!!!

Isn't that the most stupid thing you have ever heard of??????

Now you see how important Saint Patrick's Day is to our area!!!!

It is usually celebrated for the ENTIRE month of March with many parades and dinners held by the smaller towns........

What you can not see is me sitting here , just shaking my head!!!!

Anyway, back to my Saint Patrick's Day decorations......

Like I already mentioned, I only decorate the china cupboard and the area around it in the Den for Saint Patrick's Day.....

This year, I made a few changes.......

This post is titled "That's a Lot of Green" because that is exactly what my son, Joey said when he saw it!!!!!

LOL!!

This is going to be a long post as I usually do it in 2 posts but this year, I am doing it in one.....

So pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee or tea......

We will start with the top of the china cupboard......

I use my green Old Curiosity Shop dishes which I bought at Salvation Army for a $1.00 a dish......

I use these dishes at Christmas as they seem to have a Charles Dicken's like look to them for that Season......

And for Saint Patrick's Day because I think they also have an Irish homestead look to them too!!!

A shamrock and Jim Shore Irish angel ornaments with a Leprechaun's Hat from Dollar Tree!!!

I hung the wreath I made a few years back in the center on a wreath stand......

Placed a vintage Saint Patrick's Day post card in the center of the wreath.......

In front of the wreath is another vintage post card......

Love this Home Interiors figurine who reminds me of an Irish Lass.....

A vintage styled greeting card and a tea pot ornament bought at The Christmas Tree Shop quite some time ago....

To the side of the china cupboard is my Thomas Kinkade Calendar......

With the plate for March displayed......

New this year is the addition of an antique funeral basket on the small table ......

Hanging above it on the side of the cupboard is a shamrock bought at Dollar Tree......

This funeral basket is usually up in my Sitting Room but when I was going through all my Craft Room supplies, I found that I had several bunches of green and white carnations that I had used to make many a wreath when I was a vendor.....

I decided that I would use them up in an arrangement for this green funeral basket......

I made a bow from the green and white deco mesh ribbon that I also had left over from wreath making.....

And topped it off with a Leprechaun Hat!!

I hung one of these sweet vintage styled plaques , bought at Michael's several years ago, from the handle......

Made the arrangement using a greenery bush, the carnations and a shamrock, 2 Leprechaun Hat picks and a small ivy bush......

An Angel and Saint Patrick ornament with another antique post card adorns the table.....

And some of the gold coins found at the end of a rainbow!!!!

I added a set of battery operated fairy lights around the handle

Sitting on a chair, that I covered with a Saint Patrick's Day dish towel, under the small table........

Is a sweet Irish Lass that sings " When Irish Eyes are Smiling"

She is dressed in tradition Irish garb like a dancer!!!!

Now you may be wandering why I have so many Saint Patrick's Day ornaments......

I used to decorate a table top Tree for Saint Patrick's Day initially in the Dining Room, and then here in the Den......

Several years ago, I opted to go with a smaller version and use the remainder of the ornaments in the cupboard......

This year, I decided to leave up the Tree that I had on the side of the cupboard for Christmas and Winter and use the funeral basket on the small table.....

I am glad that I did........

Without any lights on it......

Made a bow for the top out of deco mesh ribbon from my stash......

Tucked white and green carnations into the Tree for fillers......

Used the ornaments that could not be used as knick knacks.....

Without the fairy lights on.......

In the evening.......

I will be enjoying this display for most of the month of March......

I still have the rest of my Winter decorations up in the Den.....

I will wait to take them down until after I decorate the Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room for Easter.....

I am started to take down Valentine's decorations in the Dining Room over the weekend since it was the end of February......

I will have much more to share in the future.....
