Spring Blooms, 2019

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I want to Thank Kathy, over at A Delightsome Life,  for featuring my post, 4 Walls in The Kitchen, Part 1, from last week's Home and Garden Thursday Party!!
Thanks so much, Kathy!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!

Spring has finally sprung here in NEPA!!!!

One of the first flowers to bloom are the creeping Phlox on the slope in front of our row of townhouses.....
I know I usually share this with you every year but this plant puts on such a wonderful display in Spring that I love to share it......
They are not quite in full bloom but we have 3 days of rain with temps. in the 50's for a high coming our way and I feared that these would be the best photos I could get of them this Season.....
White, light purple and dark purple are all planted here.....
They have spread over the years, almost forming a carpet....
Looking down at the slope at the top of the front flower bed......
You can see that the azaleas are staring to bloom up at the top of the slope......
This red azalea is always the first one to boom......
It is a brilliant color, isn't it????
The next azalea that blooms is this purple one down at the opposite end of the front flower bed......
Another vibrant color.....
And the last one to bloom is this white one......
You can see that all the blooms are not yet opened......
When fully bloomed, it looks like a huge ball of white fluff......
I hope all the rain does not knock the blooms off before they fully open up......

And those are the blooms in the front yard......
In the back yard......

My lilac tree is also in bloom......
This tree has the deep purple blooms......
My MIL had taken a slip of her neighbor's lilac tree to give to me almost 40 years ago......
I love the deep purple lilac blooms, don't you?????

Also in the back yard is a red leafed bush that I have trained to grow as a tree over the years......
In the Spring, it has pretty white flowers on it......

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Spring Blooms!!

They certainly bring a smile to my face!!

Surgery Update:

Keeping it real, I had the staples, yes, staples, removed from my incision on Thursday when I went for my first post op visit with my Ortho Surgeon.....

The incision now has steri strips on it......
It looks good with little swelling and almost no ecchymosis ( black and blue brusing)!!

I have to admit that I made a mistake in scheduling my first follow up appointment back to back with my Physical Therapy appointment.....

By the time I got home, I thought I was going to die because they gave me quite a work out in Therapy......

It was a cool rainy day and I was sore, cold and tired so I vegged out for the rest of the day in what my oldest son calls my "Campground" in the Living Room......
You can see I am all set up with all the things I need....

I am still sleeping on the couch downstairs as I am afraid that Joe will kick my knee....

He tends to toss and turn a lot.....

I am feeling much better now......

I also want to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day!!!

My Mom and Dad

My Mom and I had a Love/ Hate relationship and were frequently at odds with each other but before she passed away, we said our peace, forgave each other for the sins of the past and I am able to live with no regrets........

My Mom, who prided herself in never weighing more than 115 pounds.....
 My Mom and me.....
My Mom was 40 years old in this photo......

This photo was taken a few years before she passed away.......
I hope you get to spend Mother's Day with those that you love.....

I will....the kids are coming over and we are ordering out to one of our favorite restaurants.......

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

  1. You look like a queen all decked out on your throne! It might be healing, but those boo-boos look like they hurt to me. Here's hoping it heals up real fast.

  4. Those are some gorgeous blooms! I love all that phlox creeping over the wall. We still don't have much blooming here yet but I see so many buds I know it's going to happen soonish. Glad to hear you are healing well after your surgery.

  7. Beautiful flowers dear lady. I do hope you are mending well with your knee. Don't be trying to overdo it! I am sure it is quite hard for someone that is so active! Love that picture of your mama in that dress! WOW! Praying that you recover totally and soon! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  8. OUCH! Your knee does look good. I don't blame you, stay downstairs until you feel a lot more well and comfortable. I remember those stitches coming out. Mine were taken out at home and some were stuck to skin. I don't remember tape.
Good pictures of your mom and dad. She was a little lady for sure.
Your spring has really come on strong hasn't it? Love that phlox. Such a beautiful sight. Your azaleas are just so vibrant especially that deep red, gorgeous!
At least downstairs you can look out at that beauty that you have growing. I bet those lilacs scent your yard. Looks like French Lilac?
Many Blessings sent your way for total recovery,
    Betsy

  11. Hi Debbie,
I love all your blooms. I have that same red leafed tree with little white flowers--- it is some sort of ornamental plum tree, I think. The first one that was here when we moved, died. So we cut it off and dug it out. Then a new shoot grew from the roots and is looking great!

  13. Good to see you are now post surgery and at least up and about to the physio and to photograph your stunning creeping Phlox, which is a real show stopper. I hope you continue to progress well and that you will soon be bouncing up those stairs!

    1. Michelle,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I could not find any other way to get in touch with you so I am doing so here. I only wish the spring flowers would just last a few weeks longer than they do..
      Hugs,

  17. Debbie, I'm glad you're on the mend! Your flowers are soooo beautiful. What is the name of the white, light purple and dark purple flowers that formed a carpet? I love that your lilac tree has a family story!

  18. Aw, Penny---I'm laid up just like you with a torn ligament...and not able to do squat. Hope the healing goes well..and I always took a pain pill before therapy---. But, now they don't exactly hand them out anymore. Your flowers are gorgeous---I have some on the east side of the garage and I haven't even seen them. Hugs, your knee bed partner of sorts! Sandi
