Winter Front Porch and Yard 2018

Welcome!!

Today, I will be sharing how I decorated the Front Porch and Yard for Winter...

But first, I want to Thank these Hosts for featuring my post, My One Little Word for 2018 from last week's parties!!
Thanks to Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for featuring it from last week's Thursday's Favorite Things Party!!
 Thanks so much, Bev!!

And Thanks to Lynda, over at Reviews, Chews and How To's, for featuring it from last week's Awesome Life Friday party!!
 Thanks so much, Lynda!!

Please stop by and link up to these great parties!!

Finally, the below freezing temps. that we had for 2 weeks after Christmas have disappeared.........
And now we are having unseasonably warm temps. but for only a few days before those below freezing temps. return again......
I took advantage of this break from Winter to decorate the Front Porch and Yard for Winter...

I took down and packed away anything having to do with Christmas and replaced it with Winter decorations.......

I did change things up a bit this year because I bought this pretty red burlap ribbon in a chevron design.in Bon Ton on Clearance after Christmas.....
The original price was an appalling $16.00 a roll!!! REALLY!!!

It was marked 85% off so that took it down to $2.10 a roll so I bought 2 rolls.....

I made a whole bunch of bows........

This is what the Front Porch looked like last year with bows made from burlap ribbon......
I wanted to add a bit more color and that ribbon added that pop of color that I was looking for......
You can see that there was still a bit of snow left even though the temps.were rising......

Let's take a look at how I decorated the outside of our townhouse for Winter this year......

A railing separates our Porch from my neighbor's......
I left out the snow man and the penguin.......
I added 2 Winter slates.........
I think this slate looks like a Winter scene.......
You can see the new bows made from the ribbon I bought on each side of the garland that frames the front door.....
I also added a few snow flake ornaments to the garland.......
Last year, I made the wreath for the front door.......
I bought the ribbon last year on Clearance and I just love the cardinals on it.....

Cardinals are sort of the theme to most of my Winter decorations both inside and out this year.....
Next to the front door......
Again, I took down any Christmas decorations.....
I kept out this slate but hung it a bit higher.....
Hanging from the vintage mailbox is a sign that I bought in the Fall at Gabes......
It was $20.00 but I had a $5.00 off coupon.......
I added a red bow to the porch light.....
And kept out my childhood sled....
The sign on the sled "Welcome to the Warming House" is perfect for Winter.....
I made this snow man out of wreaths last year and added snow flake ornaments to it for Winter.....
Hanging next to the snow man is another slate.....
In the corner of the porch.....
A Dollar Tree snow flake hangs on the railing.....
A bow made of of the same ribbon as the bow on the snowman dresses up the lantern.....
And I also switched out the Christmas Flag for a Winter one.....
This was the best photo I could get with the wind blowing!!

More red burlap bows grace the garland on the railing....
Snow flake ornaments and larger Dollar Tree snow flakes were added to the garland and railing.....
In the center is a snow flakes that lights up......
The greenery that Joe cut off trees in the woods behind us is still looking good in these pots...
The flower bed under the Living Room window.....
A wreath, that I re-did this year, hangs on the Living Room window....
I took off the plain burlap ribbon that I had had on it and re-did it using this burlap ribbon that I bought last year.....
I like the berries on the ribbon....
Christmas mini flags were changed out for Winter ones.....
Cardinals......
And other Birds......
After I took these pics, I sent Joe back down to Bon Ton to buy one more roll of that red burlap ribbon so I could make a few more bows!
They added that pop of color that this area needed!!

I added bows to my Tree Topiaries in the large urns on the side of the flower bed......
 The front yard......
I took the red velvet bow that I had here on my faux mailbox and added the "Let It Snow" sign......
I left the mail box cover one because I think it still depicts Winter.....
My Park Bench.....
Again, I changed out the red velvet bow in the front of the lantern for a one made out of red burlap ribbon....
And added this cute metal bird.....
On the bench......
I added a Winter scene slate ......
A new bow on the lantern and a Dollar Tree snow flake with a small snow man slate in the middle of it....
This is what it looks like with a bit of snow and ice.....
Next to the park bench....
Again, I remove the red velvet bows from the deer's necks.....
And hung a new Winter mini flag....
This is how the front of our townhouse looks from the parking where we park our cars....
You can how the red burlap bows pop!
Joe took these photos and of course, he had to take a photo of this.....
Joe put this sign on the wall  in front of his parking space....
See the ice hanging off the bottom??

This is because of this!!
We went from 65 degrees with rain to freezing rain and sleet and then snow as the temps. plummeted!!

Everything is frozen solid!!

Poor Joe had to use an ice chipper and several application of ice melt just to get our side walk clear!
It has definitely been a crazy Winter and I am glad that I was able to change over the front of our house from Christmas to Winter before the frigid temps. set in again!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing that change over in my decorations......

Christmas......
Winter.......
Christmas......
Winter.....
And I thought I would share a few pics of how our back yard looks in the Winter......
And even though we hardly use the back door and go out into the back yard yard in the Winter, I still like to put a wreath on the back door........
I simply joined an evergreen wreath with a pine cone wreath and put a burlap bow on it....
In my next post, I will start to share my Winter with a bit of Valentine's Day decorations in the Kitchen.......

Starting with my Winter Cardinal Tree in the Kitchen......
I went mainly with a winter Cardinal Theme in the Kitchen this year....

So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. I love the cardinal theme. I always take down the Christmas stuff and leave up my snowmen for a few months following Christmas. I will be glad to see the artic cold that we are having come to an end.

  2. Love those snowflakes. I put just about everything away except for winter candles and snowmen. That ribbon you found on sale shows really well in your decorations. Happy Monday Betsy

  9. Debbie, it looks very festive! I have my winter décor out on the porch and with no snow it looked a bit out of place. We finally got snow and now it looks like it belongs! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
