I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

The Azaleas are Blooming!!

Welcome!!

We have been caught in a very unseasonable weather pattern for the past week with temps. barely getting into the 60's , lows down to the 30's and 40's in the mornings and off and on rain showers with little Sun to top it off

My azaleas are in full bloom now but it has been hard to get good photos of them with the rain and cloudiness.

First, I want to Thank these hosts for featuring my post, The Patio Project, Part 1, from last week's parties!!

Thanks to Jillian, over at Vintage and Co. Blog, for featuring it from last week's Let's Talk Vintage Party!!
 Thanks so much , Jillian!!

And I also want to Thank Beverly, over at Across the Boulevard, for featuring it from last week's
Brag About It Link Party!!
 Thanks so much, Beverly!!

Please take some time to stop by and link up to these great parties!!

We have a long thin flower bed in the front of our house along the sidewalk that runs in front of our row of townhouses........
The rest of our front yard is a huge slope with a retaining wall separating it from the parking lot where we park our cars.......
In a previous post, I shared how the phlox on that slope looked when in full bloom......
Click HERE if you missed it........

You can see the azaleas from down in our parking lot.......
You also can see that the phlox blooming season is winding down......
The red and white azaleas are easily seen from the parking lot.........
The red one was the first to bloom.......
And the white one followed.....
Let's go up the steps to the sidewalk........
I actually was able to get a photo when the Sun came out for a brief moment!!!
This is another Azalea that is blocked from view from the parking lot by the Rhodendron........

Here it is just starting to bloom......
 And now in full bloom......
 Another peek of Sun!!
This is the white one before it bloomed......
And now in full bloom......
Doesn't it look fluffy?????
You can see that my Rhododendron is also starting to bloom......
But I will save that for another post......

Looking out the Living Room window before the air conditioner goes in .....
This is the red Azalea in full bloom......
Too bad that the azaleas only bloom for a short period of time.......
But they do put on quite a show in the Spring!!

Since we have had such unseasonable weather, I have been doing a lot of work in the house......

I cleaned all the windows, washed the curtains, changed some curtains for Spring/Summer and went through a LOT of my linens and curtains.

My One Little Word for the Year 2017 is HOPE!

I HOPE to PURGE a lot of the things in our home that I don't really need........

I started this quest last year and now I see what I did not use in a year .......

I only kept the linens and curtains that I plan to use and the rest was donated to our church for the Flea Market that will be held in a few weeks........

I also have been going through and purging a lot of my craft supplies. Since I no longer plan to be a vendor at local Craft Fairs, I have also donated many things not only to our church but to the local Volunteers of America Thrift Store and to my little great niece Madalynn, who is quite the crafter!!!!

There is a good feeling in trying to simplify one's life and free up some space in one's home......

This coming week, we are predicted to have temps. in the 80's......unseasonably high!!

Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind......

I hope to plant my annuals this week so I will be sharing more of the front yard, front porch , back patio and yard......

So I hope you will come by and visit  again!!

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

Hugs,
Debbie

  1. Hi Debbie These are beautiful blooms! How long did it take for the phlox to take off like it did? I think everything grows slower in Denver (no humidity). How long have you lived in your townhome? Your photos make me happy! laura

  7. BEAUTIFUL, Debbie!!!! What a contrast to "not so long ago" when there was a ton of snow, eh? I am so happy that last week's cold chill is gone! Tomorrow it is supposed to be 91 here... not ready for that yet either! LOL. Thank you SO MUCH for the Let's Talk Vintage SHOUT OUT! Much appreciated. Have a wonderful week!

  10. Oh Debbie, you make me want to be a better person in the garden. I'm much too random with my attention I guess, because our flowers don't look as wonderful as yours. Wondering if you have read Marie Kondo's first book (of two) "The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up" ? If not, read it. It was only $10 last year when I bought a second copy. It's that good! Even if you are a good down-sizer, the book will change your life. I no longer would think of storing something due to the new outlook I have. And I once rented two storage spaces ($60 and $80 per month) for over a year because I couldn't part with things. Now, no more.
