I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

The Greatest Show on Earth- One Last Time!!

Welcome!!

On April 6th, we had the pleasure of experiencing the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus for the final time!!!
In May, this wonderful American Institution will perform for the last time......

This really saddens me because generations to come will not know what it is to see this great American Iconic Event.

As my youngest son said even without the animals, the acts are terrific and put on a great show worth seeing.

We were delighted that we were able to experience this show through the eyes of a child.......
Our great niece. Madalyn!!!

Madalynn was mesmerized during the entire show and truly enjoyed it!!

My whole family attended.........

Me and Joe.....
Our youngest son Jim and his Love, Danielle.......
Our oldest son, Joey.....
And my niece Lynn, her daughter Madalynn and my sister Barb also came and were seated in front of us!!
Lynn and Madalynn.....
Madalynn and her grandmother, my sister Barb......
Madalynn!!
There was an hour Pre Show were you were able to go down onto the floor and see the performers up close.......

Madalynn had a blast!!
Here she is sitting watching the clowns perform......
That is my sister Barb and my niece Lynn ( in the black coats) down on the floor while Madalynn was being entertained!!
The Show is about to start.....
The Opening Number.......
Kristen Michelle Wilson is the first ever Female Ring Master!!
So sad that her time as Ring Master was so short and will be ending.......

Congrats to her for breaking that glass ceiling!!
She was fantastic!!
Out came the camels.....
The tight rope act was right in front of us!!
He just jumped over those 3 guys!!
Aerialists in neon outfits.....
That girl was shot out of a cannon!!
Another song and dance number before intermission.....
Intermission was now over......
This guy was amazing, jumping all over this spinning device!!
And then the Tigers performed....
And then the Dogs performed!!
Check out the sweet little one in the basket!!
The Concrete Jungle Acrobatic and Cyclist act...........
It was fun experience and we were blessed to share it with family!!

I am still saddened that it is the end of an Era in American Entertainment history and I hope that it will re-emerge in another form for future generations to enjoy!!

In my next post, I will be sharing what the Powder Room looks like now that it has been returned to how it normally looks when not decorated for Christmas and Winter.....
So I hope you will come by and visit  again!!

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

Hugs,
Debbie

  1. What a treat for the whole family! I've always wanted to run away with the circus as a child. I wanted to be a trampoline artist.

  5. Yes, it is the end of an era! I hope the people acts will continue in some way. Loved the animals, too, but with our consciousness being raised, it is kinder to NOT have them "performing". But it would be great to see the acrobatics continue; hopefully many of them will be snatched up by Cirque de Soleil.

  9. Glad you were all able to go and enjoy it together, it looks like it was a great show! I am thinking that all those acts may be able to come back with just another name.

  10. I am so bummed that I wasn't able to take my children. Well, I have actually taken my older children, but not my little girls. The weekend they were here we had too much going on and I just couldn't make it work out!

  11. Oh, My!!! Memories, memories! But even in person, not quite so vivid and extravagant as this one---I can't even IMAGINE that there are THIRTEEN TIGERS in one place. And all the other entertainment and exotic animals---what a show. Nothing like it.

  12. I love the circus and saw them years ago. It is so sad that generations to come will not experience this. Looked like your family had a great time.

  13. We always enjoyed the circus and hate to see it end. Your pictures tell the story of a family who had a great time. I think the grown ups may have had more fun than Madalynn!

  17. I had the privilege of seeing the circus once many many years ago and it was a show stopper even back then. I can only imagine how impressive it must have been now.
