I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

My "New" Sitting Room, Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of my "New" Sitting Room Reveal!!

As I mentioned in Part 1, this room was my youngest son 's bedroom.......

I have worked on this project of turning our Guest Room into a Sitting Room since the end of May.....

It all started very unexpectedly when we decided to give the single bed in this room to a neighbor because we realized that in 38 years of marriage, we have never had a "Guest" stay over and our chances of having grandchildren are slim to none!!

We would get a lot more use out of this room if we turned it into a Sitting Room for me so we bought a new recliner for this room and got rid of the single bed.

In Part 1, I showed you this corner of the room which is where the bed once was.......
If you missed that post, please click HERE

Today, I will be picking up where I left off......
But first , let me give you a quick peak of the whole room.......
I will be sharing the Reveal in 3 posts since I have a lot to show you!!

As I said before, we left off here.......
Next to the vanity chair that I re-upholstered using sheets, is a little table that was my neighbor's that I painted white......
Above the table, I hung a cute magnetic board......
This is Rose......
Rose is a dress form that I embellished a long time ago and if you want to see that post, please click HERE

On the table beside Rose is a lantern with fairy lights inside of it that come on by Timer.....
And a vintage blue glass shoe.....

Rose, in all her glory!!
On the other side of Rose, is a blue glass bottle and a Lenox candle......
This table was perfect for my old Radio/CD player......
You can see that it fits perfectly on the bottom shelf........
Next to it is a blue glass basket and on the floor in an old sewing machine drawer that I painted , are some CD's.

I did not want a TV in this room because for one thing, we already have 4 TV's in the house!!

I wanted this room to be a room where I could read and listen to music......
Moving on  along this side of the room..........

Next to that little table are 2 bookcases......
The larger one was built by my father that I recently painted white and the small one was bought many years ago at a yard sale for $10 and has been painted white for some time now.....
I was able to store all of my books in this room......
First let me show you what I hung on the wall above the book cases.....
The pictures are from Home Interiors and I painted the frames white......
The Victorian Lady plaque was bought on Ebay.....
On the top shelf of this book case......
Some vintage pieces and a white milk glass lamp......
The scarf on top of the book case was made by my maternal grandmother.....
Let me show you some of the books that I have in this book case.....

The top shelf houses fiction and a few Tea books.....
The second shelf stores some of my Decorating books......

More Decorating books are on the third shelf along with my collection of Christmas magazines......
And all of my Christmas decorating books are stored on the bottom shelf.....

Moving down to the smaller book case....
A small shelf that I "dabbled' with a few years ago sits on top of it....
A Home Interiors Victorian Lady, vintage tea cups, a creamer and sugar bowl and some fancy shoes are displayed here......
Mostly Fiction books are kept in this book case.......
A mini Hummel tea set sits on the first shelf.....
Some classics and my Anne Perry Victorian Murder Mystery Novels , sit on the bottom shelf....
In a basket on the floor, is my Collection of vintage Golden Books , which I will share with you in another post......

I found that the best place to put our new rocker/recliner was here in front  of the small window to get the most out of any natural lighting in the room.....
In the corner, is a Curio that I got from a neighbor and is the only piece that I will not be painting white...... That is too daunting of a task for me!!
 Above the curio.......
A vintage plate and another Home Interiors picture with a frame that was spray painted white.....
A yellow wire dress form rests on the top of the curio.....
And a Guardian Angel Wind Chime hangs from the swag light hook by the window........
I have chosen to display some of my Angel Collection and some of my Mother's yellow Depression Glass in this  Curio......
We moved the Swag Light which once hung above the bed, over here, above the recliner......
I disguised the chain from the swag light using rose garland bought at a flea market.........
This lamp was bought at an Estate Sale in our neighborhood a few years ago......
This is the swivel rocker/recliner that we bought at Bob's Discount Furniture.........
It is quite comfy and fully reclines.....
These are the pillows that I made from sheets from the bedding set that was once used for the bed in this room.....
In my final post on the Sitting Room Reveal, I will be showing you the remainder of the room......
Including my recently refurbished faux Fire Place......
So I hope you will be back to visit soon!!

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

  11. Nice to have a room with all your special things in it. I really like your frames painted white. When my guys left home I turned one bedroom into an office with a twin bed and the other into the den with a pull-out couch. My other son's room is a guest room downstairs. These rooms come in handy too when the kids come home to visit since two of my guys live off Island. Thanks for joining my little party and enjoy your day, Debbie.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
