I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

"Reflections" of My Cottage Garden

In this post , I am going to share with you a few Reflections of my Cottage Garden in a Mirror!

But first, I want to THANK Kathy, over at A Delightsome Life, for featuring my post,
"How Is My Garden Growing?" from last week's Home and Garden Party!!

Thanks so much , Kathy!

Please stop by and link up to this lovely party!!

Before I show you this half of the Patio ( which I will do in my next post), I wanted to share one interesting piece that I have on this side of the Patio......
I bought this Mirror several years ago at a Yard Sale......
I have seen lots of mirrors used in the garden with the majority of them mounted to fences......
I treat the back wall of our townhouse like it was a wall in a room inside the house......
So I decided to hang this mirror, which I paid only $5.00 for and then spray painted it white, on the back wall  above "Joe's Chair"!!
I wanted to see the "Reflection of our Cottage Garden" in the Mirror.......
Here are some of those "Reflections"......
I hope you enjoyed my Cottage Garden Reflections!!
Like most of the country, it has been an incredibly HOT Summer!!

I am NO lover of heat and pretty much HATE the Summers.

Now that I am Part Time, every 2 weeks, I get a 3 day stretch off from work......

So I took advantage of the that time off this past week to work on my Faux Fire Place Transformation in my new "Sitting Room"!!

Here is a sneak peak after I coated it with Kilz, a Sealer Primer paint, and took the doors off to paint it.
During these days, the temp. here in NEPA reached 90 with a dew point of 70!!

One Meteorologist on one of the local TV stations calls it " The Air You Wear"!!!

I just have to tell you that I did this in an upstairs room with NO air conditioning and with 2 tower fans blowing on me!!

In the words of one of the priests who was Pastor in our church during a Heat Wave a few years ago, " I thought I died and went to Hell!"

LOL!! He had quite a wonderful sense of humor!!

But poor Joe is out in this awful weather delivering the mail...He does prefer the Winter as you can always get warm but in the Summer, you just sweat to death!! He is counting down his days to retirement which now number in the 50's.......

I will be showing you my finished Faux Fire Place project soon!  I do have some finishing touches left to do......

In my next post, I will be sharing the other half of our Bright and Colorful Patio!!
So I hope you will be back to visit soon!!

I hope you will also take some time to visit my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas, where I am posting, celebrating Christmas in July!!

  1. Well...you already know my thoughts about summer...sigh...you said NEPA--We are only a hour drive (north of) Mansfield, where I will be attending school Aug 2017...I think I mentioned that before...I am so over summer---btw, it is nice here to day in western/Southern Tier NY--It seems the humidity has backed off a bit. Have a beautiful week ahead, friend.

  7. I really like the mirror, Debbie. I see mirrors in gardens everywhere and they just add so much depth. Yours is so pretty. We are getting some warm temps today which is nice after the freezing rainy weekend we had. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  9. I have not seen mirrors used outside but it is so nice to see the lovely reflection of your garden in it and the area is so homey :) We are having the same type of heat wave here in southern Illinois too, I am happy that my hubby doesn't work out in it anymore, he is behind a desk now

  10. I think the mirrors are a great idea for your lovely garden space. Can not wait to see more on the faux fireplace, but do take care in this hot and humid weather! How exciting for Joe to be getting so, so close to his retirement! Take care of you and Joe!

  13. That mirror was a great find! Looking forward to seeing the fireplace finished. You wouldn't like living here in our semi-tropical climate! I don't like it either. :) I guess this is your husband's last summer delivering mail. Congratulations to him.
